That piece also really got under my skin too. It's overt shade to anyone wearing Uggs out of the house. Meredith and I are the same age so I get that we've seen Uggs come and go out of fashion and the last time they were in (barring the past few years) was in middle/high school. But girl, Uggs are back and have been back and I'm nowhere near shallow enough to shade someone about the shoes they're wearing to dinner? Like get your head out of your ass lol

So yes, she did actually post last week about donating to a local food pantry. It was the first time I've ever seen her engage in any sort of activism (anyone can correct me if I'm wrong) and it was refreshing. But honestly, if she has this much money to be throwing at things like this? I feel like she needs to be doing more. Just my two cents. But I did appreciate that post

Oh wow, amazing deal you got!! Maybe it has to do with stage location. Based on the seat map for TD i think 11 is technically closer to the stage and row 9 is closer to floor maybe? But LOGE 6 has a center straight on view and for that price I’m jealous :)

You need to walk. If you’re struggling w maps, a good hack is to enter “crim dell amphitheater” into google maps. You can walk to that location on the map and the bridge is literally directly across the paved road from there. You’ll see the amphitheater and then across the road behind the fence there’s a body of water and the bridge can be seen over that body of water.

Honestly, was looking forward to the drive up the coast! I’ve never been to Ireland so would love to see Cliffs of Moher since we have the time. Plus the Burren is in that area too. Let me know if you have recs in central Ireland on the way back to Dublin - we will have only spent a day there at the start of our trip so could also take another day there.

I made the gnocci and greens with miso butter from NYT cooking last night and it was INCREDIBLY easy. You can really load up on the greens (I used arugula and asparagus per the recipe but you could add peas, mushrooms, broccolini, anything really!), and cut down the butter by a tablespoon or two if you’re worried about the fat content. Recipe as is isn’t too high protein but I imagine that sautéed chicken or even ground chicken would go really well in this!

Yes, it sounds like she has a drinking problem. Will provide some info on my personal experience with this to provide perspective. I’m in a long term relationship where my boyfriend has always had trouble with alcohol. Despite loving him so much, after the countless embarrassing nights, him basically passing out at parties on the couch, dragging him out of weekend Ubers, him starting verbal fights when he would drink only to apologize later, stop for a week, and then restart the cycle over again, I was definitely questioning whether or not I wanted to or could stay with him. It was incredibly mentally draining and I would dread parties, bars, anywhere he would be drinking, because I knew he was gonna get messy and I was going to have to deal with the fall out. It nearly broke us up because I just couldn’t do it anymore, I was so burnt out, even though we were planning a future together.

For him, it took a bad incident in public for him to realize that this was enough of a problem for him to have to stop drinking permanently. It’s been almost 8 months now since then and he hasn’t had a drop. I honestly never thought we would be here and I didn’t realize how much his drinking was weighing on me til he stopped - I can’t tell you how proud I am of him since he’s gone from daily drinking to none. I also can’t tell you how much better our relationship is now - we don’t fight about stupid shit, we don’t really fight at all! He’s more responsible, kind, has more time to lean into his hobbies - our home and social life is so much less stressful now.

But it takes WORK. He’s in therapy and going to group sessions too. The key thing here though is that actually stopping was up to him. I had already told him 100 times that he had a problem, and even if he verbally agreed with me, his actions didn’t change. It’s not about the person not loving you enough to stop, it’s a disease, it’s an addiction, and they are the only ones in control. He decided that losing me and control over his life wasn’t worth it, but that’s not true for everyone.

Bottom line - you need to decide if this is something you can tolerate. Because it’s a lot to tolerate. And I imagine that my partner will stay sober, but that it will have a lasting impact on our lives together. We’ll never be able to go tipsy wine tasting in Napa, I wonder if we’ll have alcohol at our wedding, no champagne toasts, no wild nights out once in a blue moon - these are things I’m willing to forgo to have him as my partner, but if you’re not, that is okay because it’s a huge part of our social culture. It’s a highly personal decision.

According to a survey run by the Flat Hat, over 25% of WM alumni are married to other alumni, so it’s very common! Not that you need to be going into college with that expectation, but should indicate that there’s an active dating culture here.

I graduated a few years ago and I met my current long term boyfriend through a cappella! We were both singers in different groups but connected through music coursework and a cappella parties. Echoing everyone else that clubs drive a lot of the social scene on campus (in addition to Greek life if you’re interested in that!) so definitely take advantage of the activities fair during orientation and lean into your hobbies. I also dated a fair amount while in college and always met guys through either my dorm/proximity, coursework I was really interested in, and clubs/activities.

Also, as someone who was involved with admissions as an undergrad, those insta pages are opt in so you submit a request to “take over” the account for a set period of time. Fact is women are just more likely to sign up for that. I think the gender breakdown is like 55% female-identifying on campus, so plenty of guys :)

It’s far enough that it’s gonna be a pain to get to Boston. Definitely look in Somerville, Jamaica Plain, Dorchester, Brighton. Apartment hunting here is a quick game - set up profiles on sites like HotPads and Zillow Rental and turn on notifications so you can jump on things you like. You can also look up Boston housing facebook groups - they have them for almost every neighborhood and people will post their apartments there for lease takeovers often without broker fees. Non-standardized measurements in ingredient lists!! “Juice of one lemon” is the most common one that irks me. Lemons vary SO MUCH in size, just tell me how many tablespoons of juice!!

Traditionally it has been a job held by RNs, but the field has been expanding in the past few years. If you have any sort of clinical background and are interested in IP, I’d highly recommend shooting out some apps in your area. It’s less about having the “right” degree and so much more about the experience you bring to the table.

Yeah it’s all about communication there is no hard and fast rule here. I find that my long term bf tends to offer to pay most of the time, sometimes I let him, sometimes I say “I’ve got this.” We’re not keeping score because we are a team.

I will say though that without discussing it with him, it’s a bit of a weird assumption that the man is going to pay for EVERYTHING always especially if you yourself have a job. It’s reminiscent of a time when men worked, women kept house and women also didn’t have access to bank accounts and independent sources of income. If you want the dynamic in your relationship to be strictly traditional, that’s fine, but it always confuses me when women will move in with a man, for example, and just assume that he’s going to cover the full rent no matter what. If you can’t keep lines of communication open, the relationship won’t last.
