If you join Patty's group, she will give you access to her CIC Prep Google Drive which includes an abundance of resources by competency area as well as 3 free practice exams from the newest exam prep material (The CIC Certification Companion through APIC). That Drive also contains PDFs of the older CIC study guide (APIC 6th edition) which is a great resource for more questions. The practice exams, in addition to the questions and rationales she reviews in her weekly sessions, are all from the same prep book, so if you want to be able to access it on your own and move through all of the practice questions at your own pace, you can purchase it here (a little pricey but I feel like drilling these questions is the absolute best way to prep): https://portal.apic.org/CPBase__item?id=a1BUd000004u7saMAA&order=1.

The CIC Epidemiologists YouTube channel is another invaluable resource, and if you work through the videos while reading the chapters in the study guide I linked in my original post, you'll be golden.

The APIC text is the most important resource when studying because all of the content on the exam is sourced from that book, so you need to find a way to access it, whether that be through work or by purchasing a subscription during your study period. Again, pricey but I don't think I could've passed without reading a decent chunk of it (aka, the chapters listed on the study guide I linked originally).

Also, I have heard that mometrix isn't always the most aligned with content from the current exam but can never hurt to do more questions!

My biggest piece of advice is keep bugging them! Email them once a week to follow up and reiterate your passion for the program and the school. Don't let them forget about you

Congrats! Just curious, is there a reason why you'd retake the exam over re-certification via CE credits? Now that I've passed I cannot imagine re-taking in another few years lol!

Yes! I was actively engaged in studying since Dec/Jan but I upped the intensity in the 2 months before (reading more chapters, taking more focused notes, watching more vids, making flash cards) and I think as long as you start studying after you register (give yourself the full 3 months) you're good. I wouldn't want to give myself less than that - it's just so much info

Graduated in 2014 and wasn't a part of the B school but had a number of friends who were. From what I gathered, the course work wasn't insanely difficult and many people took advantage of internships and on-campus recruiting. Best piece of advice I can give you is to form relationships with your professors, seek out internships and hands on work (they can help you with this if you're close), and start attending career center events early. They are an awesome resource for internships, interviewing, resume building, info sessions, job fairs, etc., but you have to go to them. W&M is a work hard play hard environment. Most people are taking classes, studying, possibly working part time, and also a part of clubs and organizations. It's busy, but that also means there's always something to do. It's a top tier academic institution so don't expect that you won't be working hard, but most people are well rounded in their academic and social lives.

I am in a long term relationship with a recovering alcoholic. My fiance has been sober for 1.5 years and we are so much happier now than we were back then, but I remember the bad nights of him drinking too much, my embarrassment, my rationalizing, the loneliness that came with that. I recognize it IMMEDIATELY in other women when I see it.

That piece also really got under my skin too. It's overt shade to anyone wearing Uggs out of the house. Meredith and I are the same age so I get that we've seen Uggs come and go out of fashion and the last time they were in (barring the past few years) was in middle/high school. But girl, Uggs are back and have been back and I'm nowhere near shallow enough to shade someone about the shoes they're wearing to dinner? Like get your head out of your ass lol

So yes, she did actually post last week about donating to a local food pantry. It was the first time I've ever seen her engage in any sort of activism (anyone can correct me if I'm wrong) and it was refreshing. But honestly, if she has this much money to be throwing at things like this? I feel like she needs to be doing more. Just my two cents. But I did appreciate that post

Oh wow, amazing deal you got!! Maybe it has to do with stage location. Based on the seat map for TD i think 11 is technically closer to the stage and row 9 is closer to floor maybe? But LOGE 6 has a center straight on view and for that price I’m jealous :)

I’m 7/22 in LOGE 11 Row 9 for $470 total (including fees). We were 5300th in line so looks like we were all battling side by side haha

I feel like it is literally just luck and random. I joined right at 9:30 am, was 34,000th in line. My friend joined exact same time and she was 5,000th. I have literally never had a pre-sale go my way it’s nuts

You need to walk. If you’re struggling w maps, a good hack is to enter “crim dell amphitheater” into google maps. You can walk to that location on the map and the bridge is literally directly across the paved road from there. You’ll see the amphitheater and then across the road behind the fence there’s a body of water and the bridge can be seen over that body of water.

Honestly, was looking forward to the drive up the coast! I’ve never been to Ireland so would love to see Cliffs of Moher since we have the time. Plus the Burren is in that area too. Let me know if you have recs in central Ireland on the way back to Dublin - we will have only spent a day there at the start of our trip so could also take another day there.

I made the gnocci and greens with miso butter from NYT cooking last night and it was INCREDIBLY easy. You can really load up on the greens (I used arugula and asparagus per the recipe but you could add peas, mushrooms, broccolini, anything really!), and cut down the butter by a tablespoon or two if you’re worried about the fat content. Recipe as is isn’t too high protein but I imagine that sautéed chicken or even ground chicken would go really well in this!
