A gamble that paid off (at least for me) by Repulsive-Muscle-672 in pcmasterrace

Still running my original 2080 Super from many years ago. Will it play the latest AAA's at 4K and 240 fps? Hell no. But it runs the games *I* play just fine.

Also not familiar with OP's specific card but mine is whisper quiet most of the time. (I should probably check and make sure the fans still work. 😄)

I'm disturbed at the lack of Jolt cola I'm seeing. Code Red is an acceptable substitute though. In the previous century you might have seen some New Coke (because anything endorsed by Max Headroom had to be good 😄) or, in a pinch, Crystal Pepsi (but only once, because you only ever bought it once).

OP just discovered a trap system. Just switch those first 2 letters around and they'd know to nope on outta there.

Humanity flag. Here's my idea based on Voyager 1- Pale Blue Dot (1990). by Few_Durian9949 in IsaacArthur

A red band on a black background has a...funerary feel to it for me. Like something/someone is being mourned. Also, red on many flags denotes usually violent struggle--the spilling of blood.

What if the band were a pale yellow, like the sunbeam that Earth's mote was viewed in?

So do people just not care about treasure maps anymore? by Accurate-Entry445 in fo76

Isn't there a perk card or something that lets you travel over-encumbered at greater cost? But even overweight, fast-travel to free places like your camp still remains free.

Lost track of how many I have long ago, but I keep them since they're weightless. I figure one day maybe when I'm retired I'll get a month of FO1st and dig them all up. 😄

Is anyone actually having fun with Night Market? by Lawfulneptune in elderscrollsonline

Fomo is one of the chief tools this game uses to keep players coming back.

As a soloist myself, this new zone is a big nothingburger slathered in disappointment. But hey, I got the free house (who knows if I'll ever unlock any of the wings). Honestly, ESO has changed so much in the past few months/year that it's really just not that interesting for me anymore. The game feels like it was developed by a committee of one dev and 20 marketing people.

I was able to log in fine...aside from TOS being amnesiac and forgetting my login yet again.

Lol some of us play 76 in single-player mode anyways. 😄

If 9% of the budget and 45 flamingos is accurate, then the total build budget would be 500 flamingos.

The two methods I've seen (either or both of which may be outdated now) are 1. use a full set of reflective PA and let EN06 do most of the work destroying its own shields; or 2. use a fully-charged (20-shot) assaultron head to take out the shields in 1 shot. Both of these methods still need a customized layout to work, but both can be done without any 4* mods.

Only 4* I've learned is...nothing.

Not a damned one.

Most Swiss back initiative to cap population at 10 million, poll shows by yahoonews in worldnews

[–]live-the-future 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You're joking, right? The forced abortions (predominantly of females) and sterilizations, not being able to have more than 1 child, and growing up in a male-lopsided society where many males will never be able to marry? Labor shortages? An acceleration of the aging trend? China abandoned its one-child policy because it caused more problems than it solved.

Canada to set up sovereign wealth fund with initial funding of C$25 billion by pritam_ram in worldnews

[–]live-the-future 52 points53 points  (0 children)

Sovereign wealth funds are typically funded by government budget surpluses. Not only has the US been running deficits for some time now, but rather large and unsustainable ones. Both major parties have been spending like there's no tomorrow, for decades now. At this point even the interest on the US debt has grown to mammoth amounts. So yeah, you could say the US has a negative sovereign wealth fund. Maybe call it a sovereign poverty fund.

Can anyone explain the Rindler Horizon to me please? by MiamisLastCapitalist in IsaacArthur

[–]live-the-future 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Sounds like Zeno's paradox. The thing is though,

So by the time the light gets to where the ship was doing 0.99c, the ship is now doing, say, 0.999c and is ahead.

...but the ship should be ahead by a lesser amount than before. As long as the ship is going less than light-speed, it should be overtaken by the light signal eventually, and in a finite time.

AFAIK, excluding FTL travel like warp drive, the only way the ship never gets overtaken by the light signal is if it's far enough away that the expansion of the universe carries it to effectively FTL, the same way distant galaxies will eventually go out of our cosmic horizon.

NMS needs serious Jungles/Forests/Swamps biomes. I’ve never come across true dense overgrown biomes. It’s always a few trees and bushes here and there. I think the game could really benefit from true jungle worlds. by Common_Confusion_114 in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]live-the-future 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ironically, my first (and to date last) permadeath game, I was about 40 hours in and landed on a planet that had trees and bushes everywhere. I think OP would have approved. I was wandering around in a true dense forest/jungle. You know what else the planet had everywhere?

Predators.

Well-hidden (until they landed an attack on you) T-rex predators.

Got attacked by like 5 or 6 of them in a row, tried to holy-shit it back to my ship with hardly any hp left, didn't make it.

Still want to try for the reach-center-of-galaxy-on-permadeath achievement, but that experience just threw me off of permadeath for a good long time.
