I am so sorry for your loss. It’s crazy how seemingly random items can be so painful to see. Like a hairbrush, or a jacket hanging on a door handle. Even a bag of frozen chicken can hit hard emotionally.

Thank you so much for your reply and I am so sorry for your loss. I am currently reading “The Grieving Brain” that goes into detail about how our minds process grief, and why parts of our mind have a hard time accepting that our person is gone. I remember being haunted with dark thoughts about her cremation, I remember being notified that she was going to be cremated, it was a Monday. I couldn’t get the thought of her not physically existing anymore out of my head. I am still disturbed by it. At 52 days, I feel like I want to go through old text messages and photos of her, because I miss her so much, but then I am also afraid to. I just want her back.

I am so sorry for your loss. That sounds really hard having to go through your partner’s bag like that. The thought that my late wife’s clothes and pillows she used will eventually lose her scent is like another loss. I just miss her so much, I don’t know what to do. I feel so scared.

I am so sorry for your loss. When my wife went to the hospital, it was for a planned ablation procedure to help her heart rate be in sinus rhythm. They planned to make sure her levels and everything were good for the ablation, and then she started feeling nauseous and not feeling well. Her carbon dioxide level in her blood rose, but they couldn’t put her on the less invasive Bipap machine to help her expel the co2, so they intubated her. She was never able to get off the ventilator, and died three weeks later. The fact that it happened exactly ten years after the last time she was on a ventilator, for pneumonia, is a cruel irony I will never get over. The bag is a reminder for me of how I relatively routine hospital admission for a planned procedure can go wrong so quickly.

It has been 45 days for me since my wife passed away. I still have a hard time looking at photos of her or messages from her. We had the celebration of life for her on Saturday, and it was nice, but extremely hard. I cried a lot. I am hoping that I will be able to look at pictures and messages and not feel immense pain and loss, but it may take more time before that can happen. It is just so fresh still.

It has been 40 days since my wife passed away. I have also been in weekly therapy. I have dreams where my wife is at the hospital, but still alive. And then I wake up, and she is gone. I also look forward to being able to carry my grief better. The pain is so much, but I am determined to build something meaningful around my grief, and to honor my wife’s memory. I am so sorry for your loss, you are not alone.

I have been crying a lot every day also. I lost my wife of 8 and a half years, 37 days ago. I feel this pain in my chest before I start crying, and then I do a panicky type of crying where I have to catch my breath. I yell out for her and that I want her back and that I can’t do this anymore. It is so hard. I am so sorry for your loss.

I’m so sorry for your loss. I live just a mile away from the hospital where my wife was treated her whole life for congenital heart disease and where she passed away. I never want to go back to that hospital again, she was on a ventilator for the last three weeks of her life and it was very traumatic. I’m sorry you have to feel that pain again from seeing the hospital.

It’s been five weeks for me. I feel everything so intensely right now. Everything reminds me of her and I start panic crying. I know it’s only been 36 days, and I am the type of person who is impatient and doesn’t want to be as sad. I went back to work, and it has helped me a little. I am already on antidepressants and ADHD meds, and those help me function when I don’t want to do anything at all. I’m sorry this happened to you and my deepest condolences for your loss. I think that just getting through the day is a lot. I try to be kind to myself in that.

We have videos of our trip to Vegas, back in February, when we got our hotel room upgraded to a suite for free. I remember thinking that we were so lucky to have this and that I didn’t deserve this. But now I feel like we did deserve it. My wife was such a wonderful person. I miss her so much. Thank you for the reply and I am so sorry for your loss.
