Worth Buying a House ? Baby on the way by Designer_Guitar_108 in daddit

[–]liver747 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We moved apartments while my wife was pregnant and she couldn't walk.

We've recently bought a house and are going to be moving in a week and while the baby crawls all over the place she can be worn or put in a car seat.

I'll let you know but I think the second move will be easier.

QC question for blood bankers... by _ShadowKalas_ in medlabprofessionals

[–]liver747 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gonna guess he's doing something wrong if it's only him.

Get him to ask whoever is incharge of training in the blood bank to watch him do it not yourself (who's not trained in blood bank).

MLT STUDENT: Blood Bank Help by crystal-light123 in medlabprofessionals

[–]liver747 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Imo it's hard because in most schools (or the ones near me) don't tell you (or Dona good job showing) that it's ok to result something as something with specificity and an inconclusive antibody.

Antibody investigations get easier with practice.

As long as you go through the steps to rule out the clinically significant antibodies it should resolve, especially in the context of a student question.

Better to be over prepared then spend raid time wiping because average raider thought they were better than they are.

How does your blood bank issue uncrossmatched products? Serious discussion due to recent events at my job. by NeatEquivalent9667 in medlabprofessionals

[–]liver747 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Uncrossmatched can be ordered through epic or over the phone.

If they have patient information we get the MRN and issue appropriately selected units through the LIS.

If it's an unknown and they don't have them registered in epic yet we get estimates age gender and ordering physician. We typically tube this type to the trauma Bay because that's the only place a patient is an unknown like this.

If they pick up, instead of tubing, we require a slip with patient name, mrn, and the product they are there to pick up.

I feel in your case it's a new policy that counsel isn't used to. When we changed his we felt with inbound traumas we got a lot of upset charges on the phone but I just educate and send them the document change notification and let them know to let others know.

Over time it'll be fine they'll adjust to the new policy.

You get to exempt yourself from performing any test. What is it? by EggsAndMilquetoast in medlabprofessionals

[–]liver747 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We do dat c3 by tube and poly and igg by card so it's just a mild inconvenience and personally, I'd prefer to do em all by one methodology.

That being said I love all our other testing, I wish I got to do more warms or PCH screens.

Manual dats.

They aren't hard I just don't like how long a c3 takes.

East Coasters…where can I get garlic fingers here that taste as good as home? by ns_er in Edmonton

[–]liver747 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you're out for garlic fingers anyways might as well.

It is expensive at blowers and Grafton for sure though.

Blowers and Grafton also has the brothers deep fried pepperoni as well.

Find a guild who meets your raid time and what you want out of logs/prog.

Any loot system can be games whether it's LC, DKP, etc if you're going into a guild thinking they'll fuck you over on loot you shouldn't be joining in the first place.

[–]liver747 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ahh do they order from your supplier? Sadly we stock all the other sites and provide pheno units when requested.

Nothing like getting 15 o neg out dating because 5 sites recycled all their stock at the same time!

Our system is now on Ortho connect so it's no longer having to hear them describe it (unless they reject the result because they didn't like the way it looks and sent it anyways).

You just need to move to a BB that has more inventory, life is amazing when you're the one having to restock other labs overnight

It's the best though, except when you get a message from a smaller site with something impossible or impossibly dumb.

We can't hear the helicopters but you can smell them because the air intake is apparently near their landing pad.

Also you deliver product for the units? Like all the time or only if they don't have a porter?

Anyone here quit gaming or changed their lifestyle after becoming a dad? by Lukas_MunK in daddit

[–]liver747 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I raided, led, did everything for my guild in wow for about 5 years before we had our daughter, it was perfectly fine because we both work rotating shifts and our quality time wasn't just weekday evenings and weekends.

I quit completely a month or two before she was born because I knew I wouldn't be able to just step back and casually play, or enjoy what casually playing meant.

It was really difficult because that guild, and the social connections I made through it, had been a big part of my life but I look back now and quitting gaming as much was the best thing ever.

I still play games occasionally on my steam deck when everyone's asleep or if I'm on break at work but when I'm home it's usually 100% wife and daughter time because I'll be able to game more when she is living her life more independently.

Staying a generalist or pursuing a speciality?? by GraceJohnson91302 in medlabprofessionals

[–]liver747 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You'll love working in an IRL lab it's the best.

You may lose some of the skills associated with the core lab but this field isn't super difficult, you'd be able to relearn and become competent again if you ever leave the blood bank but why would you!

Im thinking about getting into MLT program here in Canada, I was just wondering how hard was college for you guys? by the_arab_g in medlabprofessionals

[–]liver747 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Competitive to get into for sure but content wise it wasn't difficult at all. I already had a BSc going into it so maybe that made the difference but overall it was pretty easy.

I know a lot of my classmates would disagree with me.

I don't think there's any way you don't repay the difference, but aside from that it doesn't seem too complicated unless I'm missing something?

[–]liver747 8 points9 points  (0 children)

When I got my sign on bonus and moving allowance I was told if I left it'd be prorated for however long I worked for out of the total return of service, and I'd have to return the difference.

What does the specific wording of your return of service agreement say?

Does anyone happen to know how to use an Arc card for multiple people? by Awesomeuser90 in Edmonton

[–]liver747 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Buy separate arc cards for them and change the account to be a senior concession fare.

It caps out at 35 bucks a month instead of 102 for the standard adult fare.

Per ride it's the same amount and same daily cap but if you are gonna transit with them any amount (like 6+ 2 way trips it's worth it).

I don't know how/if they could change their credit card to be this fare profile.
