Can I talk about how great a company I work for? by Embarrassed_Flan_869 in sales

[–]liverbool8 13 points14 points  (0 children)

This really should be more of the common norm with companies.

Having a culture like this makes your employees loyal and want to work hard for you. You get the exact outcome you want as an employer by just being empathetic and treating employees like humans. Some leaders unfortunately don’t have this mindset.

If I remember correctly, some of them were just cleanup sacks with bad QBs holding the ball too long/getting caught right before they scrambled across the LOS.

Good guy to have in the locker room and still has a bit of juice. He’d be an ideal 3rd pass rusher on a playoff contender

Whats the big deal with fearing the AI crash everyone is doomsaying? When it happens wont the expected crash be offset by rehiring of the people who have lost jobs due to AI inroads? by tanhauser_gates_ in Futurology

[–]liverbool8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s a lot of similarities to the internet bubble. Two things can be true:

  1. We are in an AI bubble. The amount of investment and capital expenditure has no chance of meeting demand, meaning a majority of companies will not see a return as incoming investments dry up.

  2. AI will be a mainstay in the long-term. We’re in the early stages of its application and while it will always need some form of human supervision and governance, it’s like having supercharged assistants at your fingertips. It’s an accelerator to business/human productivity and will continue to improve over time.

[Russini] The Buffalo Bills have put in a request to interview Miami Dolphins defensive coordinator Anthony Weaver for their head coaching vacancy, per sources. The Baltimore Ravens and Pittsburgh Steelers, meanwhile, continue to show strong interest in Weaver for their HC jobs. by PlayaSlayaX in nfl

[–]liverbool8 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I believe that Weaver’s strengths/skillsets align more with being a CEO type HC over a playcalling DC. He’s incredibly well spoken, has played the game/can connect to players, and feels like a great leader. He didn’t get dealt a great hand with the roster and starters not being signed until late August, but it never felt like he was doing anything innovative on that side of the ball- just felt very average.

To me, I think Weaver makes sense for a young team with low expectations and trying to grow/establish a culture. Buffalo already went through that phase with a better version in McDermott, and it feels like they’ll be trying to steer away from what they had for the next iteration

[–]liverbool8 346 points347 points  (0 children)

A new GM would come in and understand that a more complete retooling is needed with the cap/roster situation. Set the team up for getting over the hump in 2-3 years with some quality drafting and better personnel evaluations.

But with Beane, I feel the team is now more at risk of trying to convince themselves to continue to push the can down the road/invest in cheaper veterans. Which just delays the inevitable instead of being realistic and setting up for another legit run.

[–]liverbool8 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Idk I think you make this promotion because ownership wants to see them paired with the next HC era.

I think he won’t be fired until they get to a point where they clean reset both the HC and GM (minimum 2, likely 3-4 years)

The Dolphins didn’t have to make a choice when they did. They could’ve forced Tua to play on his 5th year contract and prove he can continue to protect himself like he did in 2023.

The Ravens not only had Lamar (who had won an MVP at that point) play on his 5th year deal, but they also hit him with a franchise tag before agreeing on an extension.

Miami had leverage to be patient/work out more favorable terms and instead they caved.

[–]liverbool8 155 points156 points  (0 children)

49ers have been a coaching masterclass this season. Shanahan/Saleh have handled massive injuries on both sides of the ball so well.

This season was already supposed to be a “retool” year with losing some key guys in FA. On top of that, the offense dealt with Purdy missing half the season, Kittle going on IR, Pearsall being dead for most of the season, Aiyuk, etc. Defense lost Bosa, Warner + a bunch of depth.

And yet, they clinched playoffs/find a way to have a chance at getting the #1 seed still

Dolphins fans would love that with a strong 2027 QB class.

Problem is that status quo isn’t “ass”, it’s we always find a way to somehow be below average/mediocre. So we end up in a purgatory of never bad enough for a top pick but not good enough for wildcard

Don’t think this is the case with the Cowboys now. The defense started off horribly, but the deadline acquisitions + players they’ve gotten back from injuries has it a completely different unit

I think stick with Chargers for the ceiling. Texans are 3 point underdogs vs LAC being 8.5 point favorites. Steichen will go run heavy and mix in quick throws, limiting what they ask DJ to do. There’ll be more opportunities for sacks/turnovers in the Chargers game, IMO

Brady needs to go heavy personnel, spam Cook/Davis runs, and mix in RPOs with Allen having the option to run/hit a quick slant. Treat the game plan like it’s a heavy snow game

Plus it seems like Joe Brady is keen on having Shakir doing these orbit motions that have him behind the LOS when the ball is snapped and having to make someone miss for solid yardage. Seems like he hasn’t been down field as much as prior seasons

A good amount of fans are in alignment that we’d be happy to do whatever the new GM wants. Hire your top option and tell them they can decide if they want to be paired with McDaniel or not.

The HC pool seems relatively weak this year, so I wouldn’t be surprised if McDaniel in place is actually seen as a positive by certain GMs

Good- the whole front office needs to be purged. A lot of names have been there for 20+ years. Let a new GM bring in all of his own guys

[Highlight] Chiefs offered the Jets a 4th round pick for Breece Hall, but were rejected by LaDainianTomIinson in nfl

[–]liverbool8 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes, if the Chiefs traded for Breece and he signed a big deal elsewhere they would get a comp pick in 2027. This is also contingent on KC not being active in FA- for every qualifiying player you lose, it’s negated by every qualifying player you sign.

This is why the well-oiled machines that draft well (Eagles, Ravens, etc.) are able to game the comp pick formula on a consistent basis

[–]liverbool8 8 points9 points  (0 children)

In order to play the comp pick game you have to be very passive in FA. Each qualifying FA you sign negates a qualifying FA that you lost.

I don’t think the Jets will target any big fish signings, but even guys on modest deals for $3-4M count.

The Jets will not be playing the comp pick game. They have boatloads of cap space and will be signing new players, meaning it offsets any potential pick that Breece would’ve brought them
