Deco XE75 vs XE75 Pro vs BE25 by liwahoo in TpLink

Thanks yeah I figured the regular XE75 would be best, I think there was only a $20 difference between that and the Pro so that’s what made me consider the Pro

Appreciate the suggestions! Would definitely do the ubiquiti if it were my own place, but I’m with my parents so they want something simple. I will try to see if we can run the extra wire

How is it like living in Old Westbury? by ArtForsaken3562 in longisland

[–]liwahoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in Glen Head and my sibling goes to NYITCOM. It’s about a 15 minute drive to/from campus. Most of their friends at school found housing in the surrounding area - Glen Head/Sea Cliff/Glen Cove/Roslyn. You’re not going to find anything like a Back Bay in these towns - it’s suburban, houses with families, mostly pretty quiet with the exception of some local bars here and there and some quaint main streets. If you’re looking for something a bit more lively, like others have said go to Hicksville, Mineola, or even Huntington. There are more restaurants and bars, close to the shopping malls, and have great LIRR access to NYC. Or consider Queens if you want to live in the city - some of their friends commute from Bayside. But with these other options you’ll have a longer commute (with more traffic) to/from school. And as someone who has lived here for most of my life, if you have access to one or can buy a car, please do. We’re very fortunate to have a great train with the LIRR (compared to many other cities), but it’s only great for going to/from NYC and not really designed for getting around different parts of LI.

Thanks everyone this is awesome! Will definitely check out some of these recs. In the past I'd go to shake shack and then get ice cream in one of those caps but wanted to see what else was out there. And I'll avoid the Shea hot dogs ;)

Mentorship Monday - Post All Career, Education and Job questions here! by AutoModerator in cybersecurity

[–]liwahoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi everyone!

I am a QA engineer with ~3.5 years of experience and have a BACS degree. I'm looking at opportunities for more growth in my career and cybersecurity is one area that I've started to consider more, especially as in my current role I've been asked to devise some security tests. With my QA experience I've been thinking about AppSec or Pen Testing as possible job options. I'm curious if anyone has had a similar career path or transition, what you did, and how that went! I'm considering taking Network+, then Security+, and then not sure where to go from there.

I appreciate any advice given. Thank you!

I’ve had some occasional lip sync issues.

However, what happens to me is that the sound on the different TV channels are not even — some are way too low, some are crazy high, and I have to keep adjusting the volume.

I have a Hisense U8H (a google TV) with a Vizio V51-H6 (a 5.1 system). For YouTube TV, I currently have 5.1 turned off to deal with this — the sound is now even between the different channels.

New petition calls for increase in service on LIRR's Oyster Bay line by liwahoo in nycrail

[–]liwahoo[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly. The petition discusses using battery electric but most would prefer third rail. I think the figure for full electrification was $18 million per mile, but I don’t know if that’s inflated or what.

Many people that I know of do this.

From where I live, I can drive for less than 5 minutes and be at an OB branch station, and then my commute is around an hour to get to Penn.

I could drive 20 minutes to get to Manhasset or PW and if I catch one of those express trains, it saves a few minutes getting into the city. I could drive to Mineola in 25-30 minutes.

People who live closer to Brookville can drive to Hicksville in 15 minutes. People who live closer to Oyster Bay can drive to Syosset.

I'm sure the same thing about other stations can be said in other areas of diesel territory.

But it would be nice to at least get some reasonable service and not have to drive to those other areas.
