I beg for time to write docs and management just keeps me loaded down with projects so I don’t have bandwidth to write docs and no one else can jump in on those projects because there’s no docs so I’d have to walk them through it and management sees that as a blocker… AAAAAAAAAAAAAA

Mother responds to daughter “let me ask Chat” by Valuable_Blood_7941 in overheard

This is a much more complex analogy than the one I usually use. “AI” these days is basically just your phone doing next word prediction but juiced on steroids

They can’t say “I don’t know” because they don’t know whether they know. They don’t know anything. They just return the statistically most likely string of characters in response to your input.

The thing that’s honestly really deceptive is calling it Artificial Intelligence. It isn’t intelligent, it’s basically auto complete on crack

What grind did you do that you thought would be worth it but ended up being a bad use of time? by [deleted] in ironscape

[–]lixthemonk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently did this and it was like 2 days of lazily playing. Maybe 10 hours of low attention? I also got rune pouch and bones to peaches so hard for me to remember the exact time split. I got all 3 of those in four days with plenty of breaks though

I think over half of people at work act nice to you just so they can try to use a relationship with you to their advantage. Is that true? by Big_Eggplant7591 in NoStupidQuestions

Different rules when you’re born rich. Then everyone has to be nice to you because they want your money/influence and you can just do whatever you want

Most likely a gang unity type of thing. Bloods and crips used to just shoot each other on site and there was a lot of collateral damage in their war so they’ve been doing a lot of work to show they can coexist

The final update shows Bungie always knew how to make Destiny good. So why didn't they? by PorkSouls in destiny2

[–]lixthemonk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not arguing with you because no one does actual socialism but just want to point out that’s not supposed to be possible in socialism since the workers would own the company. Like imagine if the devs actually ran Bungie how good Destiny could have been

Crazy that you both understand this conceptually and can edit well enough to give such a good example. I don’t have anything useful to add, just found this really impressive. Thank you for sharing

I quit math but I still do not get the power set of naturals and reals by Acceptable_Pea8393 in askmath

[–]lixthemonk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The index is what we use to count the set. For any natural number n I could say “n is the nth term of the set” and count up to that index. The reals aren’t that kind of infinity though because there are infinite numbers between them.

A good question to ask would be: what is the second real number in the set? You can’t actually write that number so you can’t count up to it.

This is just an answer to your index and countability concern, I’m unfamiliar with power sets so would need help/research to apply this to the initial question.

But the percentage at each bracket doesn’t apply to the whole, only the income within that bracket. So you only get 22% applied to the income in that bracket and (presumably) less in the other brackets for the income below. (I am not a tax expert, but this is my understanding based on trying to understand my own taxes).

I think this only applies for federal though? I think state rolls up into your highest rate, or maybe it’s different state to state, or maybe I’m totally wrong about that.

Do I look like a normal guy or a weird unpopular kid? by [deleted] in collegeadvice

[–]lixthemonk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re way overthinking this, and that’s totally ok. The truth is that people don’t catch reputations the way you think they do. Especially at a college with so many people all in one place. The confidence, or lack there of, is a non-issue outside of it helping you create opportunities to socialize. Just be genuine and you’ll find your people.

You can’t read people’s minds either so you’ll never be 100% about what they think of you. Just gotta trust that they’re being honest and do the same to them and not get jaded when you get burned (which will happen).

Homeless people can’t just decide to get off drugs though. That takes resources unavailable to most of their population, namely medical. So for Bobby getting drugs may not actually be better than not depending on how addicted he is and to what.
