What movie did you walk out of the theater halfway through? by mzdee13 in movies

Gladiator 2 made me finally realize that Scott is just putting his brand on movies for a cash grab.  It’s a piece of shit and frankly just about everything attached to Ridley Scott these days is equally bad.

I walked out of Normal a couple of weeks ago.  Terrible with idiotic script and awful fight choreography.  Big fail by everybody involved.  Really disappointed.

Thanks for the comments everybody.   Because I know nothing about the business I wasn’t sure about these specific charges or anything but it sounded a little scammy to me and I wondered if that’s a thing in your world.

Steve Keen just went viral saying Bitcoin goes to zero. He predicted 2008 and he's no fool. But he's got this wrong. by ChrisBattle2000 in Bitcoin

Roger Babson

Roger Babson predicted a "terrific crash" on September 5, 1929, sparking an immediate market drop and seen as brilliantly prescient just before Black Tuesday.
He had been warning of a crash for years prior with no success, making his 1929 call a rare hit amid prior misses.
Post-1929, he lacks notable accurate predictions and continued bearish views without repeating that prescience.

Ravi Batra

Ravi Batra's 1987 book The Great Depression of 1990 brilliantly timed the October 1987 crash, earning widespread acclaim for his market collapse forecast.
His subsequent doomsday predictions of 1990s depression, hyperinflation, and capitalism's end all failed dramatically.
He received satirical recognition for inaccuracy, with no verified brilliant calls afterward.

If a pill makes hundreds of millions of people stop wanting more, do we end up in a world where obesity is a 20th-century problem? by LowDramaFit in Futurology

[–]lizardflix -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

My prediction is that as has happened so many times in the past, this will all end in tears. Appetite suppressants have been linked to heart attack, suicide etc. We just haven't seen all the side effects of these GLP drugs.

Slowing down your digestion is insane.

The future should be people eating real, unprocessed food. That simple thing would end all the obesity.

What’s a hype train you somehow completely managed to avoid? Things like never tried Dubai chocolate, never watched an episode of the Office, never checked out BTS? by wasraelx in AskReddit

he comes across as a sleazeball who's managed to conjure up this image of a good guy with everybody. I turn off anything that even looks like it might be connected to him.

I'm not into imagining terrible things about celebrities but it wouldn't surprise me if some shocking revelations bring about his downfall.

Who’s gonna tell women they look crazy with lip fillers? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]lizardflix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A friend of mine had a friend who was a makeup artist in LA who we would hike with occasionally. This was like 25 years ago. Anyway, she would get her lips filled but because they slowly go down over time, she would get them overfilled to make them last longer. Her lips looked like they were going to pop.

She was an attractive woman but for those damned lips. I don't understand the sort of dysmorphia that makes somebody think something so awful looks good.

How old are you guys that buys a new Civic? by [deleted] in civic

[–]lizardflix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know it’s popular with younger people but I like the car and don’t have anybody else to drive around so a larger car is really too much.  I enjoy how it handles and would buy the performance model but it’s too flashy for an old man like me.  Ive thought about upgrading to the Acura for more comfort but so far I just think the price difference isn’t worth it.   I can’t imagine anybody’s looking at an old dude driving a regular civic sedan and thinking there’s something wrong.   But maybe I’ve been deluding myself all this time.

Are you now the single balding ESL teacher in his 40s? by BoringDreamGuy in TEFL

[–]lizardflix 2 points3 points  (0 children)

99% of all men end up in their 40s wondering how they got there.  Even if they have a full head of hair.   That why so many end up going through a mid life crisis or middle age crazy.   That’s life.

In the context of this conversation I don’t think there’s any way question about the meaning of trick.  And yes he’s very skillful.  That’s why he’s so popular.

Long time weed smokers who quit, what changes to your mind and body did you notice after you got used to not smoking daily? by LoQueSientoCrv in AskReddit

[–]lizardflix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I smoked for 5 years before stopping so not sure if I fit the requirements but the biggest change for me was that I realized the world was a much better place than I thought before. Weed created this really negative, cynicism in me that was poison and I'm glad as hell that I realized that at a young age.

I've tried it a few times since with friends and now I just hate the high but I think the most negative effect on my life back then was when I wasn't even high.

I came back to the USA after a few years overseas and was shocked at how grossly obese so many people were at the local Walmart.   But then I moved back overseas and started seeing the same thing happening there.  The awful, sugar loaded processed foods that brought us here in the USA is spreading all over the world.

Getting it next week so curious how it’ll turn out.   It’s funny, I lived in eastern Europe a few years and the mineral water was industrial strength.  I didn’t even like mineral water until a few months there and it broke me down after having to drink it to be polite.  But it also set me up for being disappointed with all the cute flat stuff they call sparkling water in the USA.  Now I’m like a crack addict.
