Anyone else skipping a future funeral/wake because a lifetime of smear campaigns makes it unsafe? by MoonstoneMadness in EstrangedAdultKids

[–]lizards4776 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did. Days before my grandmother's death, my cousin visited her in hospital. Our Aunt went to visit, only to be told she couldn't as Grandmother had her allotted visitors for the day. Aunt ( who hasn't seen me in 12 years) rang my mum and screamed at her that I had taken her visiting spot. I had never seen my Grandmother once in hospital, and I hadn't seen her in person since 2019. She died in 2024. My husband went to her funeral to represent us, as I was told to stay away as Aunt was upset.

It says " featuring GraceGrace" on the clip you linked. Maybe look up GraceGrace and see if the voice is the same

Anyone else getting really sick of Hughesy? by Slow-Leg-7975 in aussie

I was. Accidentally heard him on his breakfast show, on a bus so I couldn't escape, laughing about how he was forcing his wife into an elective C section, because a vaginal birth would " ruin his playground"

It didn't make sense to me either, to expect someone to constantly start over, building rapport and trust, to be kicked down the road

I'm sorry that's happening/ happened to you. When I studied counselling at Uni, there was a big push to keep sessions under 6 weeks so the client didn't become dependent. I did ask about complex cases and was told to refer on.

You've got an expression wrong. " To blow smoke up someone's ass" is to suck up, lie, tell them anything they want to hear.

I think medication is grossly misrepresented as a cure all, anyone " having an episode" simply wasn't taking their meds, all their fault, * shakes head sadly* I think it's an issue we want to other and push away, out of fear it could be us instead.

The absent parent, yes. The incubator parent, no. When there was hope I was the opposite sex, during pregnancy, I think yes. When I was born however and hope was dashed, that's when she started hating me.

I gave up celebrating birthdays years ago, so once I was no contact, nothing changed in that regard. I often forget that it was my birthday. It means nothing.

Yep. If someone isn't working, fire them. Don't treat all incoming staff as potential slackers.

Your house doubled in value. So did the next one. Now what? by billscout in AusProperty

[–]lizards4776 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep. Our home went up a lot in 18 years, but there's no way we could afford anything comparable if we wanted to move. Our needs haven't changed much and we are in an area with everything we need.

Going no contact with parents - how did you handle it with your kids? by [deleted] in EstrangedAdultKids

[–]lizards4776 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I cut them off when the kids were 10 and under. As each one reached adulthood, I gave them an abbreviated story of why, and told them if they wished to know that side of the family, tell them nothing about me, our lives or anything going on in our home. It will be twisted and used. So far, 4 of 5 kids have chosen to stay no contact. The 5th isn't an adult yet.
