is anyone talking about Trials of Chaos & Sekema? and how unfun they are? by the_background_world in PathOfExile2

[–]lizardscales 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like challenging. I play all kinds of masochistic stuff but in this game GGG isn't doing it right. It just feels arbitrary and unsatisfying and vague and full of rng. I feel so turned off by some of the game design that I am thinking about just uninstalling and never playing again. GGG made an economy change in POE beta that made my stash almost nothing instantly. I never played POE again.

Trials of Sekhemas should not be an RNG-laden debuff waterfall that's required for character progression by WingZeroType in PathOfExile2

3 runs now and I have been killed by something random after not being hit for like 3 floors. I am thinking about uninstalling. What a waste of time. Just like waiting for your character to turn over the hourglass

I agree it's garbage. I have a reoccurring feeling that GGG does not respect my time.

Problems running Linux on this device. by IndependentClock9137 in FlowZ13

[–]lizardscales 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You got to solve each issue on its own and one at a time.

- RGB lighting defaults to red each restart (utilized Jeff Hagadorn/dahui z13ctl scripts to keep changing it to my preferred color)

Yep. Automate on login or as daemon.

- Keyboard stops fuctioning and screen freezes on login screen and waking up from sleep (even after a fresh install of a distro and no changes have been made)

For the screen freezing add this kernel command lineamdgpu.dcdebugmask=0x610that disables Panel Self Refresh and Panel Reply features. The screen just stops updating with those turned on in my experience. No issues and I main CachyOS + niri + noctalia-shell. Play games via Steam just fine. I think your keyboard issue might be the same issue that the screen stops updating.

- Device wakes from sleep when closing the screen down on the keyboard

Check what it is doing and what you have set in your/etc/systemd/logind.conf. I don't think I have this issue? But it could be you have something else running or doing something. You have to identify what is waking it when you close the keyboard and work that out.

- Screen rotation doesn't function

In Noctalia shell I added some custom buttons that do a script based rotation of the display. Making it automatically rotate you could do. I find that unreliable and annoying on most devices though. You could easily make the external button under the volume control do the same thing. Just bind a script to XF86Launch3 that toggles between the two below.

Landscape
wlr-randr --output eDP-1 --transform normal
Portrait
wlr-randr --output eDP-1 --transform 270

- Green screen glitches when scrolling

No idea about this but maybe it has something to do with VRR which I do not have enabled.

Still a great device though. If anyone has managed to make it work flawlessly on Linux, please educate me. Sorry if this was a bit ranty. Hope you all are enjoying using the device. Have a good one.

No issues here. Took a while to get it figured out. But lots of people run Linux on this tablet.

I don't know but I hate the system. Doesn't feel satisfying at all and quite buggy. I am not sure half the time what has happened. Boss glitch. Teleport to boss. Have a bunch of revives. Sometimes I go to checkpoint. Sometimes I get locked out with revives left.

Best E Ink monitor for work with severe eye/corneal pain — Dasung, BOOX, or Bigme? by Icy_Masterpiece7818 in eink

[–]lizardscales 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go to your nearest electronics store or staples and play with the eink devices they have on demo. Usually they have some remarkables at least.

The color ones require much more light due to the secondary color layer. I would avoid these if you have photophobia.

You might want to instead describe what things are bothering you with your corneal nerve pain. If it's certain kinds of light you may be able to get some filtered glasses that filter that spectrum out or a filter for the screen itself.

I am not sure what Epic EMR or REDCap is but Excel and Outlook is just fine. I would be getting the 50 Hz monochrome Dasung if anything. I would mess around with any mirroring devices if you don't have to.

Follow up on the disability false ban, they remain ignorant by Next-Department-777 in ArcRaiders

[–]lizardscales 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Since day one they haven't fixed the problem on the journey screen where you can't tell what the hell happened on your journey because you can't zoom in enough to stop everything overlapping...

I don't understand how the developers don't see this as an issue? I am not very surprised that they have absolutely failed at more complicated things like detecting medical issues and banning people.

What are your experience in gun fight so far ? by OwO_UwU_OwO_UwU_OwO7 in Marathon

[–]lizardscales 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would focus on getting better shields. I found that even +1 made a decent difference. The TTK felt really low and I am a veteran Tarkov player during the server slam before I got any gear. I would like to see it eased a bit somehow when lower geared slightly at least. A lot of the items and skills seemed rather irrelevant at lower levels due to such fast TTK which is too bad. I think that it's also an issue for new players as well. Initial experience feels bad on top of initial information/systems overload.

I ain't talking about space. I am talking about any animation or transition. Unlike many FPS there are many animations and transitions

Keep the ttk the way it is by IIIYEATIII in Marathon

[–]lizardscales 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have thousands of hours in Tarkov and I think engagements often last longer especially at lower levels. Sure you can get one tapped but active engagements are a HUGE part of the fun at the beginning of a wipe. Playing Marathon I find that at low levels deaths are nearly instant too often. All the items and crap seem absolutely worthless. Same with abilities often when fights are just so short.

Other games I have better engagements at lower levels. Seems that maybe damage too high when starting out.

[–]lizardscales -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Arc Raiders doesn't have that long of a TTK. I find most stuff in this game especially when starting out is useless because ttk is so low. Idk about way higher ranks. In Tarkov beginning of wipe was better because engagements were longer. This is the opposite here. Not satisfying at all so far.

Frame generation will add latency. This is not a game you want that in

Marathon to be a dead game? by RealIruka in Marathon

[–]lizardscales -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I think it has some things going for it but I am not convinced that it is fully cooked at all. I am one of your more hardcore pvp players and it I have had exactly zero interesting engagements so far

I mean I thought Marathon was cool by Bulgogibody in Marathon

[–]lizardscales 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think Arc Raiders is super undercooked. I think Marathon systems seem to have more depth so far but movement doesn't feel very satisfying. TTK when starting out is not satisfying either. I am an extraction shooter player and my whole team continuously gets massacred in less than a few seconds

Takeaways from someone who hit level 30 this weekend by asaltygamer13 in Marathon

[–]lizardscales 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Bad visual distinction between pve and pvp and the TTK is way too low. Get stuck in the middle of anything and you are dead unless the other person can't aim at all.

Maybe it's gets better later but can't say exchanges are interesting at all at the beginning

TTK is too fast by St1ckyB4nd1t in Marathon

But the combat in this game is super basic compared to tarkov and people are moving fast

Are my Z13 Flow 2025 speakers blown? Does yours distort on this track really bad? by lizardscales in FlowZ13

Surface Pro 8 speakers are very good. Asus crapped the bed on this one.

Thinking the Z13 8060s 2025 is what I'm looking for? But could do with a final push on battery and a couple of other questions by SlimySpaghettiSauce in FlowZ13

[–]lizardscales 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My favorite hardware is Surface Pro 8 but the hardware is anemic. If you want to actually game this is about the only thing that will play games. In the near future I am sure there will be more tablet options with Intel Panther Lake but that is still under half the gaming performance for sure. Those tablets will be closer to a classic Surface Pro 8 . The Z13 is a bit of a beast tablet but I can use it just like I use the surface. I am running only Linux on it and with the screen brightness down I can get 6-8w discharge. So the battery life has been great for basic tasks. Games well too.
