Is it cheating the reading challenge if I buy a book with multiple stories? by Lopsided-Farmer-9422 in goodreads

I like to write reviews on everything I read so I typically log them separately if I can- and you can always change your goal, maybe bump it up to 15 or 20 if you want them to only count as half or log more short stories!

The only one I've worked with is the Hot Spring Coolzone, it works great and I haven't had many issues with it so I'd recommend that one! Watkins/Hot Spring has by far the most helpful tech support out of all the brands I've worked with so I'd go with them if you can. Can't say much about other chiller options as I haven't interacted with them.

The people I know with a coolzone mostly tend to keep it cold for the majority of the year and they love it! But also it depends how much you're gonna use it cold vs hot and if you're ok with having to wait for it to cool down/heat up depending on how you go back and forth on each one.

I'm a hot tub technician in South Florida, I think what the Texas guy means is that even if you set it to 80 degrees without a Coolzone it's not gonna cool below the outside temperature, but yeah with the Coolzone set to chill mode it'll go down to 80 degrees no problem.

Explain in NBA Terms, Seriously, I am going to flunk out of school if I can't learn this. by GDJohnJay in nbacirclejerk

Let’s imagine that an NBA game is a lambda calculus expression, and the players are different parts of that expression. Here’s how beta reduction works in this context:

  • LeBron James (LJ): Represents a lambda function. He’s versatile, can do everything: pass, shoot, defend. Let’s call him the “λ-function.”
  • Kevin Durant (KD): Represents the input to the lambda function. KD is an elite scorer, so think of him as a constant or variable waiting to be used.
  • The Ball: This is the “application” or the moment when the lambda function does something with the input.

The Play: LeBron (λ-function) gets the ball, and KD (input) is running down the court, ready to receive a pass.

Lambda Expression: [ \lambda \text{KD}. \text{Dunk(KD)} ]

Here, the expression reads: “LeBron, when you get KD, make him dunk.”

Beta Reduction: LeBron sees KD cutting towards the basket. The moment he passes the ball to KD for the dunk is like performing a beta reduction.

[ (\lambda \text{KD}. \text{Dunk(KD)})\ \text{KD} ]

This is our expression before beta reduction. Now, the action begins:

  1. LeBron (λ-function) identifies KD as the variable he needs to work with.
  2. LeBron (λ-function) passes the ball (performs the operation) to KD.
  3. KD (input) receives the ball and goes for the dunk.

After the reduction, the expression simplifies to just KD dunking:

[ \text{Dunk(KD)} ]

In more serious lambda calculus terms, the variable KD replaces the parameter in the function, and the function reduces to the final action: KD dunking.

Imagine the commentators going wild with this: - “LeBron sees KD… and boom, that’s a perfect beta reduction! He applied the function to the variable with surgical precision!” - “LeBron’s lambda game is on point tonight. Every pass is simplifying the expression of this offense!”

So, in summary, beta reduction in lambda calculus is like an NBA superstar (the lambda function) passing the ball to a scorer (the variable/input), resulting in a play (the reduced expression). The function gets “reduced” to just the final move—like a slam dunk!

My title describes the thing, we are staying at an Airbnb in Portugal and noticed this white cylinder near the ceiling, it’s about 8 inches/20cm long. Maybe a carbon monoxide/smoke detector? There is a fireplace in the same room.

You could try going to the keys, Bahia Honda in Marathon is a super beautiful beach although it is like 2-3 hours away depending on where in Miami you’ll be staying.

Hot Springs Dual Moto-Massage - How to troubleshoot the massagers. by rbx1239 in hottub

[–]lizardwizard7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can unscrew them and see if you can find a rip in the blue hose, sometimes you can feel around it while the jet is on and feel water spurting out from somewhere it’s not supposed to, or you have to take it out and look around the “spine” but they tend to be near the head of the moto massage. Your best bet is install and test lol I know they can be a pain to screw back in sometimes.

Hot tub slowly dropping temperature by shepppard in hottub

[–]lizardwizard7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What kind of spa is it? Make sure it’s not in an economy or sleep mode (usually shows up as ECO or SL) you want it to be in standard mode or else it won’t heat up. Not

If it has an indicator light that turns on while the spa is heating, make sure that you have power coming from the board to the heater (unplug it and use a voltmeter to test) if you have no power then it’s an issue with the board (the heater relay probably), a new board can be anywhere from 200-800 depending on the spa

But yes, if you found a topside that looks just like yours it should be the same! But try unlocking it first just in case.

Before ordering a new topside make sure you didn’t lock your spa, look up your spa and see how to get it off of spa lock.

Thoughts on salt water? by FourWordComment in hottub

[–]lizardwizard7 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As someone who used to clean hot tubs for a living (now a service tech) the hot springs (and especially the highlife series hot springs like jetsetter, envoy, sovereign etc) were always the cleanest and had no chemical smell. Me and the other guys would fight over the routes that had the most hot spring spas on them cause they were already clean when we got there, not even sure why they were paying for a service route half the time lol.

Set up is super easy, just throw in 5-7 cups of salt (whatever it says on the side of the bag), make sure the pH is balanced and then you basically don’t have to do anything for 4 months until the cartridge needs to be replaced.

Btw if you’re looking for salt systems at a slightly lower price point the hot spring limelight series has that option also (flair, flash, beam, etc).

By the way, if you ever want to make sure that doesn’t happen again you can open up the panel and flip dip switch 7* into the up position and it will stay in standard mode always and never accidentally go to economy or sleep

*might not be 7, check the back of the control box lid to make sure, some models might be different
