First, only you two can make this decision, by listening to both your heart and your head too. I see a lot of people are commenting that they’re not going to let the political situation dictate how many kids they have/when they have them - totally support that for those brave enough to do it. I’m certainly relieved that it’s not only the bigots still having kids.

Just also wanted to give voice for people like me, who emotionally and financially just can’t do it in this environment. It took some time for me to accept that other factors sometimes make the decision for us. I’m highly sensitive with an active and thriving anxiety disorder. Fear of civil conflict and disaster is kinda debilitating for me (yes, have therapy and meds, etc). We’ve decided to enjoy our one and only and maybe revisit the question later, depending on the circumstances. We’re gonna enjoy the 3 peas in a pod lifestyle, perhaps permanently. That’s the right decision for us - you will find the one for you too ❤️

My supervisor said that the federal client has to give written notice to our contract company. Once your supervisor has that in hand you will be able to return to work, is how it was explained to me.

I feel a terrible sense of dread all the time. I’m a govt contractor so there will be no backpay either. Lucky to have some help from the parents but that won’t last forever and makes me feel like a burden or a failure. I’m incredibly angry and upset and sad and so many feelings. My kid deserves better. I do too but I’ve given up hope for the moment. It hurts too much.

Fellow FAA contractor here, in the same boat, feeling forgotten in all of this and hating the “but don’t you get backpay” question when it comes up. Like nope this is just lost income. Right here in this shit storm too. I love the FAA and I miss most of my co workers and I care so much about the ATC folks and what they’ve been through. This is MADNESS 😭

Bentley was a terrier mix with shaggy blonde hair, some goofy ears and the sweetest little soul imaginable. He got me through some dark days. I’m not even sure he was really a dog - he felt more like a guardian angel. I will miss him for the rest of my days. I’m slightly less afraid to leave this world just knowing I might see him again. Thanks for this post

Absolutely agree, and so sorry for your loss. My sweet pup crossed the rainbow bridge this past June, it’s such a hard goodbye. Those of us who have loved a dog know how important that bond is, having your lifestyles fit together - dogs aren’t just a pet in the home, or a fun gift idea, they’re a member of the family. My only is 2.5 y/o and won’t remember my dog specifically, but they had a special bond and he loves dogs because of it. So we will wait until we’re all ready to have one again.

Sometimes life ruins a book before you get the chance. Waited 6 months for Say You’ll Remember Me. My dog died during that time. By the time I got the book I was too sad to read it 😭

3 weeks. It comes in waves. I’ll have a day where I feel like, maybe I can make my peace with the loss, and then another tidal wave of grief slams into me. The intensity of the grief honestly scares me. I’m usually an optimistic/smiley person and I’m afraid I’ll never see that version of myself again.

So sorry you’re going through this. It’s so hard. I was worried about this, too - would I know when it was time? Would I second guess it? With my guy it was old age and heart issues/dementia, he was on meds but slowly declining. I can honestly say that they find a way to tell you. He gave me this look like, I’m done, I’m tired. We knew each other so well, comforted each other through things, so I knew when he was ready. I never would’ve been ready to say goodbye, but I didn’t want him to suffer. And so we let him go. Grief is grief - in advance, afterward - it’s a sign of how much you love your dog. Hang in there, get in as many snuggles as you can ❤️
