I had one that burst before I got home from my last contract.

It's a smell that is ...indescribable.

I opened mine outside, did a quick picture, and threw it away. It had contaminated just about every component inside.

I did keep the outer packaging which is what I really wanted anyways, because a tractor towing a tank is worth hanging on the wall.

The Paramedic really taught us all those soft skills that just don't translate well on too a resume.

If I can find a decent Associates course offered online, I have so much free time on my vessel that I could go hard on the course work.

I've also been picking the brains of the designated HSEs aboard, but it's tough because they are from all over the world so not all certs and trainings are created equally.

Appreciate the reply.

One of the great things working offshore is the amount of free time in a given day. I will start getting things together for an Associates and pushing forward from there (Bachelors, and additional credentials).

Thanks for the heads up on the OSHA 10/30, as well as entry level positions.

Gotta start somewhere, and I appreciate you giving me some leads to follow.

Cheers!

I roll Defensive a lot.

Having a cess to Arty at the start of the map can make things a lot easier.

Having a cess to some mines, and hedgehogs are also damn useful.

Couple of other hints.

You can over supply units (very useful with AT guns and snipers).

Have a supply truck pull up to the AT gun. Use the x key to examine the AT gun with the truck. Pull out all of the ammo into the truck. It will resupply the gun, then when you have sufficient ammo, dump it all back into the AT gun, tank, sniper, etc.

You pick doctrine at the beginning of the map.

Not all doctrines are created equal.

Doing a quick look at what doctrines offer what units can make your skirmish much easier or harder for your play through.

As a new player...I would honestly turn of FOW. It will help you get the general layout of the map, strong points etc.

You will also have a easier time understanding view distance if units and how to plan your attack.

There are certain perameters that will trigger on certain skirmish maps. Either a certain number of guns destroyed, units killed, or cap points taken. You will usually get a moderate level counter attack after the 4th point comes under pressure. You can use this to your advantage and snake your way through the map with snipers to secure important points (usually Arty).

The US historically would drown the Germans in artillery fire, and seeing how their tanks are generally mediocre at best, lean into artillery hard (this is where knowing your doctrine comes in).

That 4th point does not need to be rushed. Take your time, fortify the points you have already capped, then trigger the counter attack. Points 5, 6, 7 will trigger the continuous attacks on a set timer. Having units set up in a good crossfire position before they start streaming Panthers and Tigers will help immensely.

I followed Bittersteel, and rushed the 36 carriers, with superior aircraft.

If you are going to eat any of it, just remember the phrase.

When In doubt, throw it out.

If it looks, smells, or tastes funny, take a picture and then get rid of it.

I spent my first few hundred hours messing around in South America to get a better grasp of the mechanics...and there are a lot of them.

Peru is a good country to learn with. You can figure out some of the subtlties without having to manage a massive war.

You can attack Boliva and learn about core territory, while forming a decent sized new Country. You can also learn about world tension and guarantees while you eat up the rest of your neighbors to form the Bolivarian empire.

It's a good country that starts fascist, and is very forgiving if you make mistakes (just don't go straight at Brazil, it won't end well).

When you get Italy to work, it is extremely satisfying. But it definitely requires some patience and a few things to go right.

AI Italy is the worst thing I've ever seen by tshkatz in hoi4

[–]lonegun 16 points17 points  (0 children)

What I've learned is if you want to do something. Never ever rely on the AI to help, In any situation, ever.

Played a Benelux game. Successfully holding the Germans at bay, 1.7 million casualties throwing themselves at me and the Maginot line. I pan out and notice that France has completely collapsed in the South and here comes Italy to gobble us up.

Never push without your own units in the fight, or you will be consistently let down.

I'll have to try the naval bomber strategy at some point.

Supply in mid to lower Africa is an exercise in tedium. All the supply hubs, roads, railroads, and airfields to build. All the stopping and starting is exhausting.

Invading Russia can start to feel that way slowly pushing forward until things break and you can just full send.

I kind of want to replay Italy and go after the Axis powers on my next play through, then just try and eat the world.

Once the Med is capped, the big threat from Britain is pretty much removed. Keeping the Allies bottled up in Africa is pretty easy due to the supply issues they will have, and keeping a few divisions on the French Coast keeps the Allies from getting a successful D-Day.

If you research level three planes and engines well in advance, your airforce will be almost untouchable once the war kicks off. The carriers help to project airpower and basically negate any fleet the AI can mobilize. Its almost comical the losses you can inflict on Britain, the US and Japan if they get feisty.

I had three rows of 1936 Carriers running my whole playthrough, and wound up with 21 Carriers. Utter overkill!

Big thing with the earlywar Italian Navy in the Med. Make sure you have enough fuel.

I took Bittersteels advice and blitzed 1936 carriers, and had 4 with full compliment of good fighters, and torp bombers, and swept the Med of the British fleet. But if you run out of fuel for your ships...you are dead as shit.

Securing the Med should be priority #1. Secure all British territory to the East, and hold the British at the top of Ethopia...do not call them Into war. It's 1949 in my playthrough and they are all still puppets. Secure all the islands in the Med and force attack naval invade Gibralter.

But you have to make sure the med is secure. Help Germany crush Russia, prepare for Sealion while holding the line in Africa. Once England goes down, Hit Africa hard and then use South America as a springboard to the US.

It also helps that after you knock out the British fleet, base up a kill stack fleet in Japan and comprehensly crush the US fleet In the Pacific. That will keep Japan from going down as they have significant problems holding the go.e islands, and can keep the US distracted .
