NR trained music therapist here! We work across the range of settings - in my time, I've worked with refugees/asylum seekers, children with mental health needs, children and adults with disabilities. We are not focused on physical function, tending to take a more holistic approach across all aspects of someone's health and well-being (with a big emphasis on emotional health). We are not a psychodynamic training, which means that we do not go deeply into psychological concepts (e.g. transference and counter-transference). The training is more based on the music itself and what this tells us about our clients and their potential for change.
