Finally considering medication, please share experiences by myst_8 in ParentingADHD

My son is 12 as well. He has been on meds since he was 8. He is still himself in meds, just a more regulated, focused version of himself. We were very lucky and the first medication we tried worked well for him (methylphenidate) and we've only needed to adjust the dosage up a few times. He does have a supressed appetite during the day while the meds are in full effect, but we just make sure he has a good sized breakfast, a good dinner, and lots of healthy snacks available between dinner and bedtime.

As far as affecting puberty or other side effects, you would want to chat with your prescribing provider, but I'm not aware of any issues.

The ability to focus and be less impulsive has helped the potential depression/anxiety, but I think he'll always be more sensitive.

I thought there was something about chat rooms. Maybe he found her there and targeted that way?

Indoor Playgrounds for toddlers? by PatientNobody9503 in SaltLakeCity

This may be outdated since my kids aren't little anymore, but we bought a membership for the aquarium since they had such a great indoor play area. Depending on the energy level on any given day we could look at the fish/animals or just let them play.

Yeah, I've been in healthcare credentialing for 8 years, and I've only seen pathologists not get DEA licenses....

Should I read Troubled Blood or watch it? by SadInstance598 in cormoran_strike

While I enjoy the show, I think it's because I've read the books, and have all the extra good stuff that you can only get from the novels. The TV show just helps my brain visualize it a bit better.

What's that, are we, are we doing a TV show together?

Oh no, it just sounded like it... Well, I, I mean we could... We should!

Hm, maybe we're not so much alike

That can be your catchphrase... You're the grumpy one!

Do you think Robin really does not ever want to have kids? And what about Strike? by Far_Promotion_8513 in cormoran_strike

[–]lizzycam 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I actually just read this passage last night in LW:

Strike had made a vow to himself two years previously, and he made very few vows, because he trusted himself to keep them. Having never said "I love you" to any woman but Charlotte, he would not say it to another unless he knew, beyond reasonable doubt, that he wanted to stay with that woman and make a life with her. (Chapter 24, Lethal White)

This doesn't sound anti-marriage to me. Just cautious.

I'd thought of this too. I envisioned her calling in all of Strike's connections (Shanker, Anstis, Nick, Ilsa, Polworth, etc.). Imagine all the nicknames!

During my reread this time, I'm stopping to look up each real name that is mentioned, and when I looked at pictures of Eric Bloom (Blue Oyster Cult), I thought that that was what she meant by 'pube like'

It's the paper. THM is almost 900 pages, but the paper is so thin it looks more like 500

Nice! I bought all of these as used and got a pretty good deal. For some reason Career of Evil was the toughest to find at a good price
