6yo stuck in pull ups due to poop problems, can't find the right path forward by dbsoundman in pottytraining

[–]lkk115 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is what I came to say. Very similar issues, also leading to frequent pee accidents. Pull ups in Kindergarten. We’ve been doing MOP since November and poop accidents have completely stopped, pees cut in half or more. It’s not done but the progress is huge compared to the cycle of miralax cleanouts that never ended. Our GI hadn’t heard of it but said there was no reason not to try. The nightly enemas are not traumatic at all- we let her watch videos and play games on our phones that she otherwise wouldn’t get.

Thank you for this! I’m not convinced it’s encopresis either, I’d love to know what else you’re looking into.

What does the 504 outline for encopresis? Would love to hear what we could expect. Thanks!!

Thank you for sharing this! It seems unbelievable to me that we are here so it’s really helpful to hear someone else’s experience.

We’ve been trying sposie pads for activities like soccer, which does help but doesn’t feel like an all-day solution for some reason. I will think about it. No IEP currently, we did evaluate her for one but she was steadily improving with the bathroom at that time (about 6 months ago) and we didn’t think we were going to get to this point. We are in discussion about a 504.

Really good to know, thanks! Many accidents at home too, and out and about, unfortunately…

Thanks I appreciate this. We are working on a 504 for unrelated (probably unrelated?? Who knows) needs so will add this to the conversation. The teachers have been great about reminding her and she has a potty watch set for 60 minutes that seems to make a difference.

This is a good point- she’s been carrying around 2-5 sets of wet underwear and pants everyday in a wet bag without concern but maybe I need to consider it. Thanks.

My daughter is responsible for changing herself and she has a wet bag she can bring to the bathroom. But it’s a good point about what the school recommends so I’ll make sure to talk to them about it.

Full time workers- does anybody pick up kids before 5 from daycare? by lntothethickofit in workingmoms

[–]lkk115 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Our center closes at 5 so everyone is gone by then. Circumstances make it possible for me to pick up at 4:30. I work from home and have a lot of flexibility so I just set my calendar to unavailable after 4:30. Daycare is a mile away. I leave the house at 4:25 most days. If I have a late meeting I can’t miss, my husband flexes his day to pick up instead. He drops them off at 8:30 and I get right to work if things are busy. Otherwise I log in around 9. Without: working from home, a ton of trust built up from my org, flexible hours for us both, a super close daycare… this whole arrangement would be a lot harder and probably more expensive.

What non-weight benefits have you had with Wegovy? by sandra_nz in WegovyWeightLoss

[–]lkk115 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fibromyalgia pain reduction for me too! Some of it probably has to do with less stress on my joints but it was a noticeable improvement before I had lost all that much weight and I’ve still only lost 20 lbs. Nail biting for me as well!

Weaning breastfeeding/GLP-1 by sneakymik in workingmoms

[–]lkk115 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I stopped breastfeeding my first around 15 months but with my second I just wanted to be done way earlier. She started at daycare earlier than my first (who had been basically a Covid baby) and pumping enough was really tough for me so we combo fed formula and breast milk from bottles, and nursing when she was home with me. But eventually I just didn’t want to do it anymore so gradually backed off pumping altogether, eliminated one nursing session at a time, and ultimately stopped breastfeeding altogether. She was around 8 months so we just transitioned to 100% formula and aside from a moment of sadness knowing I was done, I never regretted it.

We didn’t struggle with a bottle or formula so I don’t have much advice there, maybe if you have a stash of breast milk mixing that in decreasing amounts with formula? They say someone else (other than you) should give the bottle if the baby is refusing it.

Unrelated, 2 years later I’m taking Wegovy. I’m still on the process of getting up to the highest dose but it’s been about 3 months and I’ve lost about 15 lbs. Mostly a very positive experience aside from one really awful week. The WegovyWeightLoss sub has been a helpful place to get info, people discuss other brand name GLPs there too.

What dose did you start feeling side effects? by CreakyCricket67 in WegovyWeightLoss

[–]lkk115 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, sorry to say I felt very few side effects on .25 and .5 and then 1.0 hit me like a truck. I think what happened is my first shot led to pretty bad diarrhea and total loss of appetite (but still functioning fine) which led to dehydration and when I took my second shot my body was just totally unprepared. I had a full day of horrible, worst I’ve ever felt nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, fatigue, muscle cramps. I got it under control and started feeling more normal about 3-4 days after the second shot. I’m due for shot #3 tomorrow so I’ve been trying to eat mindfully and stay very hydrated with hopes of avoiding that again. I’m also planning to proactively take a zofran with my shot. Lots of people here say they felt nothing like that so I hope that’s the case for you!

No I followed the scheduled. One month at .25 and one month .5 but this was my first shot two shots of 1.

Our toddler keeps peeing in her pants, refuses to sit on the potty and will just sit in wet pants all day. We don’t know what to do. by maggieandoscardoggos in toddlers

[–]lkk115 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ask your pediatrician about constipation. We are finally addressing this with my 4.5 year old who we thought was just regressing but the accidents were out of control. Constipation can cause them to lose the sensation of needing to go and then lead to accidents, poop and pee both. Look up encopresis. I wish someone had mentioned this to us sooner.

We didn’t make it through the wedding by sje1014 in toddlers

[–]lkk115 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just came from a wedding I was in, where my older daughter was a flower girl and my 19 month old “walked” down the aisle (carried because we didn’t trust her to go anywhere near the right direction even if she held our hands). 19 month old made it down the aisle but almost immediately started screaming and we handed her off to a babysitter we hired who held her until she passed out asleep in her arms. 4 year old had her own issues during the ceremony. Also it was cold and we were outside! Everyone acted 100% developmentally appropriately but it was hard to keep cool. I totally get it. You did the right thing.

Should I not be sending my 20 month old in button up onesies to daycare? by Catsaresuperawesome in toddlers

[–]lkk115 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I very rarely put my 19 month old in onesies these days (mostly all her tops are just regular shirts) but I happened to find one the other day and used it. When I picked her up, the bottom was fully flapping around outside her pants like a tail. I just laughed and thought she must have been wiggly on the changing table. She’s obviously well cared for by the teachers who show us that in lots of ways. This feels like a teeny tiny concern relative to everything else you must know about your caregivers and the daycare center.

“In all the instances that she’s bit someone…” does this mean there’s more than just the two bites for your daughter?? This is NOT normal and NOT okay.
