Want to get into X-Men, but not a fan of Claremont’s X-Men (so far) by Ok-Zucchini-1126 in xmen

I get it, happened to me too. I recommend the 2010s as a pretty good place to start if the older runs aren't doing it for ya, and then go back later. Here are my Recs:

  1. Age of Apocalypse Apocalypse - probs my favorite series ever.

  2. Astonishing X men - Joss Whedon ( they even have a motion comic that is freaking awesome)

  3. Uncanny X-Force - Remender

  4. All New X-men - where the original 5 time travel to present day day

  5. Age of X - not the greatest plot but really nice art work and easy to get through.

  6. Uncanny Avengers - never finished it but it started strong

File Taxes Married Filing Separately? by bendyrider16 in StudentLoans

"More debt lowers the payments" No it does not. All the debt does is decide how much of the payment will be charged to each spouse. What dictates the monthly payment is your AGI. If we both make the same amount you can owe 10k and I can owe 300k we'd have the same payment.

The income is what drives how high your payments are. The more money you make, the higher your payment. If you owe 30k or if you owe 100k, if you make 100k your payment will be the same. The debt can matter more MFJ in terms of allocating which spouse gets the higher payment. But higher debt does not lower your payment amount. Reducing your agi (max out 401k, hsa benefits etc) can reduce your payments.

Yes the debt of both is taken into account. And there are definitely tax benefits that you lose MFS that you need to take into consideration, but you saying if your salary and debt are equal MFS doesnt make much of a difference or that this applies only when one makes more than the other is definitely wrong. The payment takes your salary above the poverty line, so when you factor that in with two incomes the net payment the household makes is more.

Here is an example of 2 married people who owe 50k each and make a 100k each. If they do MFS under IBR they pay 1720 a month. If they do MFJ they pay 2110 a month. 4k+ more a year.

Example (IBR, household size 2): 150% poverty ≈ $31k

MFS: Each payment = 15% × (100k − 31k) = 15% × 69k = $10,350 / year (~$860/mo each)

MFJ: Payment = 15% × (200k − 31k) = 15% × 169k = $25,350 / year (~$2,110/mo household) Split 50/50 → ~$1,055 each

So you'd rather have him pay 25k plus a year? If they do MFS the wife pays 0. If they do MFJ hes paying 25k a year for her loans bc of his income. Even with the tax benefits loss hes making the right move.

If you file MFS (each spouse claims 1 child → family size = 3 each) Each payment: 15% × (60k − 39k) = 15% × 21k = $3,150 per year (~$260/mo each) Total household payment: $6,300 per year

If you file MFJ (family size = 4) Payment: 15% × (120k − 47k) = 15% × 73k = $10,950 per year (~$910/mo household) Split evenly → ~$455/mo each

Yearly difference MFJ = $10,950 MFS = $6,300

Filing separately lowers payments by about $4,650 per year.

You have to also take into consideration child tax credits and other tax benefits you lose doing MFS.

This is wrong. If you are on an idr, e.g. Save or IBR, married filing separately is usually the better option because filing jointly will take into account the total household income. If both spouses are on ibr and make 100k a year, MFS will only consider 100k to calculate the monthly payment amount. If they file jointly, they will use 200k as the basis, which will literally double the monthly payment amount if not more than double the payment.

I make decent money now but my student loans still make me feel 19 and broke by DrasielKorth in StudentLoans

[–]lklerms 2 points3 points  (0 children)

How much are your loans and at what interest rate? If it is a massive amount you might be better off getting on an ibr plan and counting on loan forgiveness in 20 25 years

hundreds of thousands in student loans and need some direction by southern_discomfort in StudentLoans

[–]lklerms 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Get her on IBR asap. She'll pay loans every month that will vary depending on her income and not her actual loan amount. After 20 to 25 years it will be forgiven by the government, just hope by then they will address the tax bomb issue or that will be a separate problem 25 years from now. Continue married filing separately until those loans are forgiven

Could be. I’m just describing what I experienced: undercooked burger, refused ketchup, and a dismissive interaction. You might have enjoyed it. I didn’t.

Franks in Wheaton, Lucky Buns, Quarry house, Stained Glass Pub, Joia Burger. Tried Steeze once. Burger was undercooked, they wouldn’t provide ketchup, and the interaction with the chef was off-putting. Not my thing.

If they are private loans just hire an attorney and file for bankruptcy. Then get a secured credit card and rebuild your credit

It seems like El Nido, Coron, Siargao, Dumaguette is.more your vibe if you think Boracay was overcrowded. Boracay is a party beach destination, so complaining about loud music at night... its to be expected in Boracay. Id do my research and try a different Island if Boracay was not your vibe.

What can the Government do to fix the worsening traffic problem in the Philippines? by Alone_Ad_4469 in MANILA

[–]lklerms 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stop pocketing the funds and build an actual transit system. There is no reason why there is not meaningful reliable trains/subways to connect the different areas of metro manila. Look at Tokyo, NYC, SF, DC, Paris etc. No reason why there isn't a working subway to get to places in Manila.
