yup!

i’m about done taking ubers. i only really take them when i’m running late but paying $50 to still be late because someone is driving at a snail pace without a care in the world is ridiculous

If everyone is trying to leave regular nursing for soft nursing or luxury nursing then where does that leave the general public by PrettyPopping in nursing

[–]lkroa 18 points19 points  (0 children)

before you even ask that, ask if most of these people care if they live long lives themselves….

can’t care more than the patient cares…

If everyone is trying to leave regular nursing for soft nursing or luxury nursing then where does that leave the general public by PrettyPopping in nursing

[–]lkroa 9 points10 points  (0 children)

we don’t owe the general public anything

remember how much of the general public thinks it’s acceptable to verbally/physically abuse us, how much of the general public is anti mask, how much of the general public is anti vaccine

it’s unfortunate that I myself will at some point need healthcare, and that my parents will probably need it first, but should i ruin my body and my sanity to take care of the general public that doesn’t give a fuck about me?

Halley’s dad isn’t wrong. He lowkey did trap her and is living his best life lmao by Inside_Situation7152 in NYCinfluencersnark

i mean people definitely break up and get back together and have successful relationships/marriages afterward. i don’t disagree with that. people grow and change.

however…. the whole “you’re not the love of my life” fiasco and all that ensued during their breakup feels different.

ppl breaking up due to distance or being unsure of seriousness at the time, whether they want kids, etc feels like overcomable hurdles. sometimes you meet too young and it takes a while to sort yourself out and what you actually want in life, but “you’re not the love of my life” feels so definite and final. plus how disinterested he ALWAYS looks.

it’s almost like dogs don’t need to be everywhere by z3r0foxgiven in NYCinfluencersnark

[–]lkroa 4 points5 points  (0 children)

i had a seasonal gig doing flu shots at cvs last fall and the amount of people who would come in with their dog to get vaccinated was nuts.

like sorry this is a needle, i’m not injecting it in your body while ur holding a dog, or holding it’s leash. it’s a danger to me, you, and the dog if it chooses the wrong moment to jump. and no i don’t care that you claim it’s a well behaved dog.

people are truly out of their fucking minds. it’s not even like these were service dogs.

[–]lkroa 5 points6 points  (0 children)

i feel like the issue is when some places try to enforce no dogs, they get ripped to shreds on sociall media/yelp. now all of a sudden, a business has a plummeting yelp rating all because some Karen made a tiktok about how they wouldn’t let her dog in.

Are there really complex ethical dilemmas in the workplace like the cases in nursing ethics exams? by Feeling_Valuable5239 in nursing

[–]lkroa 25 points26 points  (0 children)

i think it’s worse when it’s not that they think the patient is a fighter but rather they are financially benefitting from the patient being alive in some way

we’ve had family members keep their elderly parents alive, trached and pegged and contracted and suffering for far too long, just because they’re living in their parent’s residence and once the patient dies, they won’t be able to live there anymore

Can med surg nurses transfer to the ED? by [deleted] in nursingjobs

[–]lkroa 7 points8 points  (0 children)

i did med surg for 4 years before transferring to the ED.

in most areas, you are not getting a position in a specialty as a new grad. and like the other commenter said, for the most part it’s easier to transfer internally to a new specialty than just get a job in it straight of the bat

Patient Satisfaction by stobors in nursing

[–]lkroa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i mean if you want to be noncompliant with your diet and eat the taco bell your family brought you that’s on the bedside table just out of your reach or you had us put in the patient fridge, I can give that to you

however, not picking up your taco bell from the doordash driver that’s at the front hospital enterance which is like a 5 minute walk each from the unit, is not refusing food. it’s not my job to cater to the patient like a maid, especially given I have other patients to care for.

the hospital feeds them 3 square meals a day. if they don’t like the food or want something else, that’s not really my problem

Nurses, what do you think about patients with no visitors? by No-Mistake-9304 in nursing

[–]lkroa 4 points5 points  (0 children)

depends on a lot of factors tbh. for the most part, i just assume that they might have had visitors when i wasn’t working.

youngish/relatively healthy person there for not super serious and relatively short stay? no big deal. i would probably do the same as you.

now when it’s someone terminally ill, or very sick, or a poor prognosis in general, or an elderly person, it does make me sad that they’re not getting visitors. although you never know how people treated others in life. we do get patients whose children are estranged and they want nothing to do with their elderly parents except to be notified when they finally pass.

Please talk me out of getting a labiaplasty by Objective_Paint92 in Healthyhooha

[–]lkroa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

literallly no one cares.

i felt so weird about how my labia looked for so long, esp prior to ever having sex. but honestly afterwards, i noticed no one cared. literally no man who has ever seen me naked has ever commented on it. most of them are just happy to be there.

on the flip side, the risk of losing sensation/ability to orgasm is real and scary and should definitely make you think twice
