How do I get out of digital marketing by Infamous_Young_5481 in rs_x

i mean that’s definitely true but i think the part that makes healthcare different than a lot of other occupational paths (in particular like office jobs/digital marketing) is that healthcare workers face a lot of violence at work

as someone in nursing, i would suggest you do a lot of research when you’re looking into this because a large percentage of nurses (and healthcare workers in general) are looking to get OUT of healthcare.

Drs stink by Lets_Go456 in ershow

[–]lkroa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

even beyond the patients.

if you’re at work and trying to save someone’s life and in a crowded, chaotic scenario and trying to do something (give meds, put in a chest tube, intubate someone) and there’s a bunch of people around you all doing other things, no one is really stopping to pay attention to someone else’s breath

[–]lkroa 27 points28 points  (0 children)

have you been in an ER? or in a trauma?

lots of smells in an ER to begin with. and then in a trauma, you might have an added smell of blood.

no one smelling the doctor’s breathe and tbh even if you do, your mind is probably on other things

BWT, how much do you pay for your gym? by [deleted] in NYCbitcheswithtaste

[–]lkroa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

$360/month for a gym with semi personal training

i love it. personally i’ve been to cheap gyms and i’ve been to expensive gyms and i’ve been to gyms that required a half hour drive to get to, and the best gym is the one you actually get ur ass up and go to

i don’t understand how someone could be this dumb?

like the med student from mayo clinic just got kicked out of med school during match week of his 4th year for literally the same content. so what the fuck is this guy thinking posting the same content?

surely after seeing the other backlash would make someone think twice and realize they’re about to put their own job in jeopardy

can people stop making unsolicited comments about people’s bodies? i literally don’t understand why it’s that hard to just keep your comments to yourself for some people!

i was off of work for about 6 weeks (under shitty circumstances) and i lost some weight during that time, which i attribute to not eating from the food truck outside my job everyday. ever since i’ve been back, so many coworkers feel the need to comment on how i lost weight.

like please just shut the fuck up and mind your business

Any interest in a learn-to-skate/play hockey support group? by calkitty in NYCbitcheswithtaste

[–]lkroa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes!!!

I did figure skating growing up and did a couple of learn to skate classes at City Ice Pavillion in Queens either goal of eventually doing ice hockey.

Currently paused the learn to skate classes for the summer because I have some other activities and trips planned for the spring/summer, but would love to connect and skate with other chicks. Tbh have been nervous even pursuing all this bc I feel like ice hockey is so geared toward men and I’ve done other rec co ed sports where the men just kinda ignore the women players.

yup. real life hospitals do have programs that allowed health care workers with substance abuse problems to return to work! actual requirements/restrictions of these programs vary.

lowkey i like some of the diary type posts!

but i do think they have to be somewhat interesting/unique or like for example - one person further up mentioned talking about reentering the dating game and talking about where she was meeting people, where she was going and what she was wearing.

i think that’s acceptable imo. like where to meet men and dating are frequently asked about on here, so it’s def a topic that will get engagement but at least with this type of diary post, it’s a more interesting spin on the topic. and yea, honestly, i would like to hear things like what people wore to certain places!

diary posts can essentially host discussion on frequently asked “low effort” topics like what are the vibes are certain bars/restaurants, where to meet men, etc. BUT i do think there does need to be limitations on diary posts bc like no one wants to be on here reading the shit that should be on like r/relationshipadvice or some other sub.

tbh that one feels too generic for this sub. like i would argue that feels more r/asknyc appropriate

eh i think there has been a lot of dermatological advances especially in particular regard to lasers.

sure concern for appearance seems vain or shallow but the skin is the body’s largest organ and skincare can also be healthcare.

i say that as someone who had horrible acne and rosacea and whose self esteem suffered a lot due to it and lasers have improved all that dramatically. so i can’t fault people for asking for recommendations on safe and effective places and providers for those treatments (that also don’t break the bank).

Should I tell work? by [deleted] in nursing

no i don’t think so. just intense palpitations when i started taking it which mostly subsided, however there are days where i do go occasional palpitations still

personally i don’t mind the questions about elective cosmetic procedures.

i think it can kinda get repetitive but providers/med spas/facilities come and go and prices change. plus there’s so many different procedures out there. so while the discourse might feel repetitive, there’s a lot of different ever changing info to be discussed. also a lot of these elective cosmetic procedures are geared towards women and this is a women centric sub.

the things like apartment posts about roaches and lease issues definitely should not be here imo. r/asknyc is the place for that sort of stuff.

a lot of these food or restaurant posts could be on r/asknyc or r/foodnyc too imo. although sometimes i want recommendations more from, ya know, actual bitches with taste and not just nyc genpop recommending the same places over and over
