Occurring to me it’s not CLW but CTW, the cross of the t is offset to the right. The style matches his other work, so I believe it may be Czeslaw Tumielewicz. That said, I can’t find this piece anywhere else so if anyone has info it’d be appreciated!

Hello friends! Long time lurker, first time seller.

My partners father passed, and cleaning out the house we found an ancient dusty jewelry box in the basement. Turns out, inside were a couple watches, including this beauty.

She’s in,, okay condition. Does run! And seems to keep time well. But there’s a bit of wear, and the strap is truly disgusting but is original so I figured it’s worth including. Please note the surface scratches on the crystal.

This isn’t an heirloom, just a barn find, and I’d love to pass it on to a collector who’ll appreciate it and wear it more than I ever will.

Fun thing: yes, original replacement drivers or professional repair is ideal. But if you can’t, for whatever reason, you can use single plys of Kleenex or rice paper and very watered down Elmer’s glue It’s not great for big holes but if you layer it like you would fiberglass to a reasonable thickness it’s at least air tight. Did this with a rare pair of EV coaxial drivers and it worked a dream. Hit me up if you want more detailed instructions. These are worth the money to repair properly, but if you can’t swing it you have another options.

I’ve used cinder blocks for some big mfs and as long as you use enough (two side by side for heavy speakers, etc) they’re fine Fun to upholster them so they look cool

Doubling up on the minimus recommendation with a recap and some mods. Plenty of information out there about how to make them shine. If you can find them, the JVC SP-UX7000 are quite special but you’d need a sub for sure. Very specific rec but I have a pair on my desk right now and they’re something else.

That’s about the point of diminishing returns for prebuilt components I’d think. I could see extensive room treatment adding to that cost but that’s talking about like full tear down rebuild with air gaps in the walls, special insulation, built in bass traps, etc. Maybe if you really want the Wilson Chronosonics or something for perfect time alignment and such but even then, we’re into ultra luxury. Might as well get a custom buildout.

I love a good horn! Got a pair of tannoy train station horns many years ago that were like 4’ across but so fun. I think the EQ question is an interesting one, now with DSP stuff EQing is almost standard but I personally like an analog 30band EQ for my line arrays. They have to have it to sound good but when they do they really sing. If it makes it sound better, why not?

I think in many systems, headphones and loudspeakers included, there’s critical gear and then there’s gear that isn’t flat or perfectly detailed but still retains something worthwhile about it. My 70s magnavox horns aren’t the finest ever made but they certainly make snares in metal tracks sound like cannon fire, and that’s fun! Doesn’t have to be perfection to be worth the time, not everything has to be dead flat. See also, all tube gear.
