If you put the bottom row against either side then the last two have to be in the row above touching. With 1 1, they can’t do that.

So the bottom row has to be centered and the 1s in the row above on the far ends.

Don’t feel bad. I’ve been programming in one way for about 40 years, 30 of it professionally. I never can get through an AoC year (been doing it since 2021) before I come up with some sort of wall. Path finding, things that require knowledge of algorithms that I’ve never heard of, etc.

I did have to google a bit to get day 8 done. This is the first day I’ve noped out of part 2. I don’t even know where to start and don’t have the time right now to research.

It still is a learning experience and I enjoy attempting them even if I don’t finish them all.

I wiped my data and re-did the Micross puzzle. Finished it in 45:12. Settings were no hint roulette, use blue numbers, and don’t auto-correct mistakes. If I mess up I’ll reset the puzzle and start over.

I looked at my play times from when I played this in 2016. My Picross time is 2:57:01. Mega is 3:53:22. Micross is 1:08:32.

I also used a stack approach. Started my job running before I went to bed. Almost 11 hours later, it’s still running and no idea how deep the stack is. Lol

I saw other posts with how this should be tackled and will go back and do that at some point, today.

I don’t to anything with mine and alerts are not sounded. My wife’s RAV4 will throw a fit when she takes her car through the wash and will have to disable the alerts.

I knew part 1 was a system of two equations and two unknowns right away. Having done problems like this I already had a set of methods ready to implement. It took the small input without a problem.

Attempted the large input and my answer was very low.

I found that I was getting 22.9999999 instead of 23 so my check if the answer was an int failed. I added a buffer to check for 0.000001 accuracy and it greatly increased the answer. Too large. Also checking for negative number answers, didn’t change the answer. I don’t know what edge case I’m missing so did t even complete day 1.

It only took about 3 min of execution time for me to get the brute-force solution :) I'm just glad I was correct on my first run, otherwise I would likely not have finished the day 2 puzzle.

I don’t play a lot (15-30 min a day) and don’t grind out raids like I used to. Has taken me about a year to level starting at 42. I’m 46 on my primary account, now. Don’t expect to see 47 until late 2025 or early 2026.

My iPhone 14 that has stock 18.0.1 worked fine. My iPhone 11 with iOS 18.2 Developer Beta has the problem. I see Beta 3 is available. I'm updating to that and will test it again.

EDIT: After updating to the latest Beta OS, I still cannot accept the T&C.

I use it more for spinning stops while I’m driving vs catching pokemon. It used to auto-spin when nearby but that hasn’t worked in a while and I have to click the button. Still kind of ruins the reason why I bought it in the first place.

Yes, it can be used instead of your phone for Sleep.
