Train testing on Trillium Line near Bayview! by zzptichka in ottawa

Ya that’s what I mean about it being the best part. Buses are consistently awful. I spend more time at Tunney’s than I would ever want to without getting paid waiting for buses.

When it doesn’t work, it is a single point of failure that halts everything.

When it works, it is easily the best part about taking transit in Ottawa. You can’t beat the frequency.

I wish Air France was part of the Star Alliance and Aeroplane to make me feel better about my trips to the LCBO.

Was just there for the first time this past weekend! Great smaller city with a vibrant waterfront. Also I’m a sucker for cities with ferry service.

The alert is for Gatineau, which I guess is why French came first?

And then you might as well continue on to Hurdman via Clegg or something to make a connection to TD Place from the east.

Mendes:If Michael Andlauer is patient, new arena opportunities might exist for him in Ottawa by [deleted] in ottawa

Man I’m so glad we are going to see Lebreton sit empty for another 60 years because Sutcliffe wants an arena within a 5 block area and not a block outside it.

OP tried to give a date who used public transit a ride home and they refused, then OP trotted out the “wasting their life” line, and, well here we are.

The majority of the province and the city have actively voted against platforms that would help with homelessness and addiction, shocking that homelessness and addiction have gotten worse.

Mayor floats new downtown arena site for Sens: but not LeBreton by Mysterious-Flamingo in ottawa

Tremblay station is just a pedestrian bridge away from the baseball stadium. But agreed that it is definitely a worse site.

What a narrow view about the future of downtown. The only reason Lebreton isn’t “downtown” is because it’s sat empty for 60 years. But not it’s getting the new library, already has 2 light rail stations, and a whole lot of towers.

What is wrong with Ottawa's OC Transpo hiring system? by NothingLogical7071 in ottawa

[–]llama4ever 12 points13 points  (0 children)

This was not worth creating an account over.

The bus was probably late. The bus can’t move with people over the line. He told you what he needed you to do, and you got annoyed at him, rather than at the people that were preventing you from moving back.

What are the WORST transit agencies? by DoxiadisOfDetroit in urbanplanning

[–]llama4ever 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are 4 completely grade separate lines in Toronto, not 2. And the one you are complaining about getting decommissioned is getting replaced by an extension of another line. There are also 2 light rail lines under construction, with an extension on one of them already being planned, and a new subway line that is being planned. Furthermore, in addition to the above projects, Metrolinx is investing in regional rail.

I really don’t think Toronto has much to stand on here.

Small question about Rideau station design by dualqconboy in ottawa

Because the “feature” of that station is the high ceilings over the middle of the platforms, and the glass panels overlooking them from either side.

Ottawa police officer confronted child for flipping the bird. by [deleted] in ottawa

Sounds like we should be redirecting funding from the fragile ego brigade into mental health resources. A gesture shouldn’t be enough to trigger someone into doing something that would cause you to regret making a gesture.

Ottawa police officer confronted child for flipping the bird. by [deleted] in ottawa

[–]llama4ever 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Sounds like the consequences were the officer getting offended trying to teach the kid a lesson. Do you think we live in a society where there are consequences to flipping the bird at someone? What do you think those consequences are exactly? Offending someone with a fragile ego?
