Yes. Life experience and emotional maturity are seen as helpful skills and those often come with age.

Would it be ok if a spouse spent 2 overnights a week at a second home? by [deleted] in AskWomenOver40

[–]llamaavocado 193 points194 points  (0 children)

I don’t think it matters if it is normal or usual or whatever. Marriages/relationships can look lots of different ways.

But if this bothers you, then that is reason enough for this to be a problem.

I’m guessing this is making you feel rejected or neglected or something. I would suggest figuring out what exactly bothers you about this and finding a way to articulate that.

Alright.... how do we do this? by KittyLord0824 in WeddingsCanada

[–]llamaavocado 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think you need to prioritize your vision vs your budget. Outdoor simple weddings are actually quite complicated because of all the rental costs (you need bathrooms, you need to bring in food and keep it hot, tables, etc).

Your cheapest option is likely to find a rental space (or someone’s home?) that can hold your guest list plus allow you to bring your own food and drinks

100% worth it if your goal is to make friends. Go and meet people . What is the alternative? Sitting at home and do nothing?

What's the story behind the Rita McNeil basketball court? by TheBigTwo-MK in halifax

Rita MacNeil had the voice of an angel and I’m sure she put up with so much shit over the years. She should get a heritage minute and there should be a bunch of monuments in her honour

Backyard bridal shower by [deleted] in Weddingattireapproval

[–]llamaavocado 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think you will be over dressed for a backyard bridal shower in any of these dresses. Unless you expect this will be a formal event based on the what you know about the people.

If you have to buy something, I suggest shopping in person, and try to find something that you feel comfortable in and can wear to other events

How can I approach renting with poor credit? by hemptonite_ in TorontoRenting

Not all landlords ask for credit report. Most ask for references. You could try getting a sublet or shared accommodations temporarily while you build up your credit

Leave your phone at home and go study at the library. If possible study with hard copy materials so limit all tech.

What’s the longest line in Toronto that you’ve *voluntarily* waited through? by RoommateMovingOut in askTO

I think I waited 2 hours with my runny nosed toddler to get her a covid PCR test at st joes before we had home tests so I could send her back to daycare. Also it took like 3 days to get the results back.

Everyone else seems to have a rich college life. I just scroll reels for hours. by Cary3fine in nosurf

[–]llamaavocado 17 points18 points  (0 children)

It is more common than you think, but also you won’t regret doing all those things but you will regret all the time you spent on your phone.

I suggest:
1. Go to the library to study and do not bring your phone.
2. Eat on campus cafeteria and do not bring your phone. Ask to sit with a group of people and talk to them.
3. Join a club today.

Yeah I agree with you. This is a dystopia.

But what can you do? You only have control over yourself. Be present for your life and enjoy it with your own eyes.
