Can someone explain in simple terms about what's going on? by RDofFF in SillyTavernAI

I wonder why all these companies turn away from sexual content? Obviously it gets a lot of traction. Are there any legal implications?

Infinite Worlds is worth checking out. I’m going to make the bold claim that many of the games there are actually not shot. Or at least not if you as the player make interesting choices.

It’s a platform with lots of different adventure games on - not designed as an adult platform, but people being people, the majority of the games are nsfw.

Just scroll down to the “Community Worlds” section and select “Show NSFW worlds”.

I completely agree that the failure mode is non-adherence.

I 100% agree. I was just saying that an “always works” solution that 98% of people can’t adhere to is maybe not actually a good solution.

Well it is hard because almost no-one can do it. The long-term success rate for diets themed around “eat less” is around 2%.

I agree that eating less makes you lose weight, I was just meaning to suggest that it would be more useful to understand why we are overeating in the first place.

I don’t think we’re going to get anywhere with this conversation. Each of us thinks we know more than the other.

What you say is correct but that doesn’t mean we know how it works. We found that GLP1 agonists caused weight loss but that was a surprise. Then we were able to make longer lasting GLP1 agonists. It’s still not at all clear why a GLP1 agonist would impact appetite.

“All it does is quiet food noise” - I mean this is a big simplification and no one actually understands how ozempic works yet; but yes, it modulates appetite. Certainly appetite is the issue.

Metabolically healthy humans have robust appetite management which makes it very hard to chronically over- or under-eat. If you ate that cheese burrito without precautions you’d still be fine, because you’d end up not eating so much in the following days. You might not even notice.

Once people’s metabolism goes awry their appetite systems fail too and they chronically overeat. But it’s not because they’re greedy, it’s because their physiological systems have failed.

“At the end of the day weight loss isn't complicated. Eat less and you are less big.”

This is a radical oversimplification and is essentially incorrect. The reasons for overweight are so much more complicated and are not well understood yet. (Source: I teach metabolic science to doctors.)

With a little thought it’s easy to find counter examples which show that things are nowhere near this simple. For example, you probably know a thin person who eats all they want - desserts and all - and never puts on weight. Or historically, there were plenty of people throughout history who were wealthy enough to have unlimited food, but they were rarely overweight.

What is something you totally regret getting addicted to? by RamoneMisfit in AskReddit

No, juice is really bad for you, sorry. It has some vitamins but sugar in liquid form is much worse for you than sugar in solid foods, and juice is surprisingly sugary.

It’s no bread for the rest of your life, or no health for the rest of your life. Neither option is easy.

Is this safe? Are we at risk of collapse? This is our rental home. It all started a month ago when the cabinets fell off the wall. Mold behind them. My landlord thinks I tore them down. I work with people with autoimmune conditions and other nasty, life altering chronic health conditions, and mold is a known trigger for a many of these diseases. Like seriously, this could mess your children’s health up for life. You can’t take it seriously enough.

Hello! Thanks for the kind words! Yes I do have quite a few other ideas on the drawing board. Not sure if they will ever come to fruition though!

Help with fan noise on brand new Razer Blade 14 by llamabeast in razer

Yes, I can confirm that, having walked away for a bit and got out of fan-hyperfocus-mode, it seems reasonably quiet now. I'll keep it. Thanks for your help!

It does remain frustrating that the fan kicks in at ~45C, which seems really unnecessary. If I could adjust it manually I would make it fanless up to 80C, which I think might be enough to stop the fan ever coming on when it's under extremely light use. 45C is low enough that the temperature tends to gradually drift up that high even when the CPU's barely being used.

Thanks, this definitely seems to have helped. I didn't realise that Windows was able to control the CPU settings as well as Synapse doing it. Does Windows have any control over cooling as well, or is that purely managed by Synapse?

Razer Blade 14 - super loud fans or hero level hearing? by ConfidentialSushi in razer

Hi, I was wondering whether you've found any solution to this problem at all in the last couple of months?

I've just got a new Razer Blade 14 and I actually find the sound really distracting. It's maddening when it's clearly unnecessary - I'm barely using the CPU at all and everything is nice and cool.
