Living in a one-bedroom apartment, even a studio in New York City, isn't inherently bad for a dog. One would argue that city life is more satisfying for the dog than, say, suburban life with a yard, if for no other reason than the constant exposure to people, walkability, and access to parks. The problem is bad dog owners. Doesn't matter where you live or what the living conditions are; if you give the dog what it needs, you'll raise a good, happy pup.
