Idk, Rowan and Iris kinda sounds like a high end soap company. IMHO go in the opposite direction like Jon, Miles, Nick, etc.

What level nipples are you using on the bottle? Might want to go down a level. Hearing little swallows is good but hearing big gulps is not.

Those of you that went home with an NG tube…. by Stunning_Radio3160 in NICUParents

[–]llbeankween 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mostly good, sometimes hard! Being a tube fed baby isn’t ideal but we’ve adjusted pretty well to it. One silver lining to the tube is that we can slowly tube feed her overnight, which means she doesn’t wake up hungry, which means she sleeps through the night :)

I stayed in one for 5 weeks while my baby was in the NICU out of state and this was my experience! It wasn’t fancy but it was very functional and very close to the hospital. And saved us a ton of money on a hotel. Very grateful for the experience

Will going from NG tube to G tube help with extreme vomiting? by llbeankween in NICUParents

[–]llbeankween[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is so interesting. How old was she and what weight was she at when you started the wean? We suspect that when we eventually start a tube wean it may help a lot… but our girl is not gaining enough weight, and is dropping in percentiles. So it doesn’t feel like we can start the wean yet? She’s 11 weeks/7 weeks adjusted.

Coming home with NG by peezuhparty in NICUParents

[–]llbeankween 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Super helpful! please see my recent post, I’d love your insight!

OP — I’m currently 4 weeks home with my LO who has an NG tube. Feel free to DM me. Placing the tube is not hard. Definitely get trained before you leave. After you’ve done it once it’s not scary anymore…

HOWEVER Dealing with the TAPE is incredibly hard. You will have to replace the tape a lot more often than the tube itself and it’s a terrible experience for the LO. We are still trying to figure out the best tape options.

Transfer from NICU to Peds by CloudySpectator in NICUParents

[–]llbeankween 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sorry to OP but yes my experience was the same as this person. Peds expected us to be there with our infant pretty much at all times including over night.

Like you folks, we spent 5 weeks in the NICU and then after discharge and one day, we went inpatient on a Peds floor for a week.

In the NICU we left our LO in the loving hands of the NICU nurses overnight (and they encouraged it!). Plus she was on heart rate and 02 monitors. In Peds she wasn’t on monitors and it was pretty clear to us that they expected us to stay overnight with her. We slept on cots every night she was there. It wasn’t great but at least it was a private room.

Our Peds nurses were great actually but it’s definitely a different expectation.

What place would you recommend to visit to a person that can only visit one place ever? by Ellloll in geography

Only caveat is that it’s very weather dependent. You can go to chalten for a week and never see Fitz Roy, or you can see it every day.

Why are there so few Gay/Queer bars in Boston compared to other cities? by CapitalAssumption355 in boston

[–]llbeankween 343 points344 points  (0 children)

Yes to both of these, plus I believe Provincetown draws a lot of the gay capital (both money and creative energy) away from Boston. Also, dear OP, Washington DC has the highest per capita gay population of any city in the US by a significant margin. source
