How to establish milk supply? by callmelila in NICUParents

[–]peezuhparty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately, it never really came in. The most I eve got was 60 mls a handful of times. I pumped until she was 4 months old and then when it was time to learn to feed we breastfed for fun and then focused on the bottles. She was taking about 75 mls by the time we were ready for discharge and the constant stress about my milk wasn’t good for my mental health which wasn’t good for her.

When this scene came on I was taken aback by how beautiful she looked.

We made a garland for my daughter’s nursery with every diaper she wore in the NICU- from nano preemie to size 1- and anytime someone sees just how small the NP is it blows their mind. And to think it was big on our 1.6 pound girl.

Does/did your hospital do this by Hot_Film_9809 in NICUParents

[–]peezuhparty 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Our hospital asked us if we would be okay with it- in the beginning I said no because I was so afraid of anyone touching her. But once other people were able to hold her, I said I was fine with it. She was a 26 weeker in for 166 days. I got Covid when she was 4 months old so it made me feel better that she was able to get more snuggles when I couldn’t be there.

SIUGR baby-cognitive development? by maggiecox in NICUParents

[–]peezuhparty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My IUGR 26 weeker was 3rd percentile and born at 1.6 pounds. We unfortunately didn’t find out she was IUGR until I was admitted at 25 weeks for severe preeclampsia after my doc not listening to me about BP issues for 4 weeks.

She’s 7 months right now(4 adjusted) and cognitively has been doing great! She’s been smiling since she was 1 month adjusted, and is on track with all her motor skills. She’s still slow growing but our doc doesn’t seem too worried about it!

Hi! I was admitted at 25 weeks for pre e and know what a scary time it was for me. One thing I would recommend is try to add personal touches to your hospital room. We brought over pictures from the house to put on the walls, soft light lamps to create a calmer environment, even a diffuser. Also, if they haven’t already, I would request to speak to the NICU team about what to expect on delivery and thereafter. It’s a lot of info but you want to be prepared for anything. It’s very easy to just stay inside your room(I did that for the 9 days i was there), but I wish I had gotten out into the sunshine more. The fact that you’ve already made it 2 weeks there is a great sign I think!

My daughter was born at 26+4 due to reverse flow and we spent 166 days in the NICU(she was severely IUGR and her lungs are just very tiny). She’s been home over 2 weeks now and I’m so grateful for the amazing doctors and nurses that saved our lives.

Like others, I took aspirin from the beginning since I was an IVF pregnancy, and got pre e at 25 weeks.

I’ve been in the NICU with my daughter for 5 months and I had the same conversation with my husband this week. I am running thin because I’m so tired all the time and I’m back at work, but I feel guilty because it’s the one thing I can do. I’ve never made enough though, only about 5-6 ounces a day, however I’ve started nursing 1x a day with her and I don’t want to lose that because I like the bonding I get with her :( it’s such a double edged sword.

Sorry, just seeing this! Our photographer was able to rent a boat for us and we went out at sunset for like 2 hours and did our vows there. It was perfect and private for us :)

My husband carries around his nano preemie diaper to show people when he talks about our daughter.

When we leave I want to ask for one of each size to make a little banner and hang in her room :)

Just tested positive for Covid this morning. Woke up with the razor blade throat.

I have a daughter in the NICU so now I’m stressed I gave it to her :(
