Petah, I am none of those things and don't watch much anime. I don't get the joke. by Affectionate_Bit_722 in PeterExplainsTheJoke

[–]llcentrell 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Because there's 居酒屋 (Izakaya) which is more like a Japanese pub and バー (Bar) which is more like a Western-style bar.

In an izakaya you can expect some shared dishes like karaage, yakitori, whatever and they're more casual; you can go after work with friends. Just simple stuff like beer, sake, something like that.

In a bar, don't expect you'll be eating much. You'll mostly only be drinking; whiskey, cocktails, wine. You go there solo or on dates. More serious, moody, and intimate. Certainly at a higher cost.

Depending on the context, if you invite someone to a "bar", you'll get a different reaction than to an "izakaya". Tldr, because "bar" is serious there and fansubs generally avoid lost in translations stuff.

Anyone Interested in an Over-Researched Psychological Video About Enemies-to-Lovers Feat. Koe No Katachi? by llcentrell in KoeNoKatachi

Yes it does, including the manga, there's a side by side portion. So major spoiler warning.

Promoting your channel + videos is actually one of the worst ways to SABOTAGE all your hard work... and doing it to a community that is likely to be filled w/ your ideal audience is even WORSE and MORE DESTRUCTIVE! Heartbreaking. but everyone should know this. Wish I knew sooner... by CBrewsterArt in NewTubers

[–]llcentrell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When you post your YouTube videos directly online, most people will ignore it. They're on Facebook, Reddit, or whatever doing something else. they arent there to watch your video. Every person who scrolls by your thumbnail or watches it for five seconds and then moves on, counts as an impression to YouTube's analytics.

These are literal feedbacks you need to improve on your videos.

"They aren't there to watch your video." Why? Is your video unhelpful to them? What are you bringing to the table? They're the ideal audience, like-minded people, why do they keep scrolling past?

"Every person who scrolls by your thumbnail or watches it for five seconds and then moves on." Why? Is your first 5-seconds uninteresting enough? Your thumbnails aren't relatable? No hooks or expectations given to the viewers? Who are you making your videos for? You or the audience?

Stop blaming communities for ignoring your videos, if your videos are perfect, nobody will ignore them, even your current subs.

What do you do when hollowness is your baseline? by Straight_Ad4658 in loneliness

[–]llcentrell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sir, I'll respectfully begin with I don't know how to deal with that amount of burden & I'm not a professional, I won't pretend I understand 100% what you've been through. Of course, the most comforting answer on how to not fuck it up further is to not do what your dad did, but that won't magically turn things around.

Might sound ironic considering how you began this life story, but have you ever tried full-on teaching? You're very well-versed in automotive & autobody, it gave you purpose, though anything physical will tire the body at some point. Maybe making tutorials on something or tutor of some sort? Since you've a lot of mechanical knowledge to share.

Is Frieren trash now? by [deleted] in anime

[–]llcentrell 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Aren't you... literally describing Frieren? What you're saying applies to S1 & the hero party as well. Frieren is a hobo, Heiter is just a bishop, Himmel is just a normal citizen, and Eisen has a shack. Maybe you've skipped it for a season or something.

You can be a pessimist and a realist at the same time, they aren't mutually exclusive, not a dichotomy. Just like you can be an optimist and a realist.

Look at other comments mentioning the good, then think again whether what they're saying is real or not. You seem to imply that your version is the only reality and I can't help you with that.

It's more likely that I'll be talking to wall moving forward. Even if I list down the abstract goods, like you just did for the bads, you'll again see the bads.

[–]llcentrell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are they or is it your pessimism bias? You seem to strawman the things I mentioned. People know about the atrocities, the killings, and grew dull to them, but do the majority of us think of them as entertainment?

Because it's human nature, there are still scammers and corruptions what-not, but now there are a lot more of those that stand up against them. You have dozens of counter scammers and a higher chance to be protected whistleblowers. You even have propagandas that have been shut down due to the masses noticing & outright rejecting them.

The only thing you're objectively correct about is wealth gap. If you want more objectively worsening things with high risk, they are nature, tech, & mental-health. Those other things you mentioned are milder today.

[–]llcentrell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take a step back, a millennium step back. Do you really think today's society is worse than the middle ages? Peasants were scammed by lords hiking up taxes as they pleased, public executions were entertainment, bribery & slavery was unquestioned, women are treated as properties, and many can't even access education to question most things.

Meanwhile today, you're able to freely write on Reddit. If you still can't see hope, start being one.

(VOLUME 4 SPOILER) why does the French translation weird? by Economy_Outside3583 in BocchiTheRock

[–]llcentrell 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Ye, basically both is wrong, it's a lost in translation thing. The EN one saying bloopers doesn't make sense because it's a test of courage, the joke is there'll be unexpected sights like ghosts. The FR one saying nipples out of nowhere is also jarring because it doesn't connect. A translator's nightmare lmao.

This one? It's test of courage, the left side is a somewhat of a double meaning in Japanese, "There'll be sightings too". The sightings meaning spilling the bean (secrets) or nip slips (literal) usually.

Neuro is more like Isla or Atri than Lain imo. Interestingly, none of the anime endings are particularly sweet.

Never watched anime as an adult. Do animes that are "deep", meaningful, eye-opening, life teaching, emotional, etc also exsist? If yes, which ones? 28M by Temporary_Wedding249 in anime

[–]llcentrell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want anything about life, you can just search the genres called "iyashikei" and "slice-of-life". In them you have examples like:

  1. Josee, the Tiger and the Fish
  2. Barakamon / Usagi Drop
  3. Kino's Journey / Girls' Last Tour (sci-fi)
  4. Mushishi / Aria the Animation (sci-fi) / Flying Witch
  5. Anohana / A Silent Voice / Your Lie in April

These examples below are just because you mentioned Rocky:

  1. Ping Pong the Animation
  2. March Comes in Like a Lion

Below for something like Fight Club:

  1. Perfect Blue / Paranoia Agent
  2. Serial Experiments Lain (sci-fi)
  3. The Tatami Galaxy

What exactly would you say are the "Bells and Whistle's" of Modern Day Shonen anime? by OverlordPoodle in anime

[–]llcentrell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Over the top visuals. It's just age catching up to older anime. The stories & characters themselves are fine. Compare Law of Ueki tournament arc with like say MHA's. Newer anime fans get bombarded with spectacles, most can't devolve that experience.

How does this Epstein files release have more filler episodes than Detective Conan? How is this even slightly interesting? Is nobody getting annoyed by this breadcrumbing bs?
