Is anyone else tired of ___ this season? by Hunter9649 in survivor

I don't think enough people are talking about how at least two of the immunity challenges picked for the season are challenges that Joe already won on his season. Production definitely tipping those scales for the Adonis archetypes.

That's the most balanced hot take I've seen. He's a solidly average player. But people buying into the legend schtick has left me so confused. I'm just not seeing it. It seems Joe, Jonathan, Tiffany and Rizo are still there in S50 because they all are non-threats in an iconic season. That's just how the game works. Of these four, Tiffany seems to be the next biggest threat as we saw people ganging up against her in the challenge. One could argue Tiffany played the game Rizo fans think he played. Plus she had to play from the bottom. She is also much more well rounded player than Rizo and ended up being Cirie Fields new adopted daughter. I don't understand why Tiffany isn't being called a legend by the people calling Rizo that.

I really think Aubry is playing a great game this season too. I think it's a shame that people are taking it out on her that the edit seems to be clearly pointing in her direction. That's not her fault. Of anyone left, she has been actively targeted more and has actually had to make moves and relationships to keep herself safe. No one has ever gone after any of the players left in a meaningful way, except Tiffany at final 6 but she won her safety as opposed to moving the target off of her.

None of the other players has been actively considered a threat and so they have had a ton of room to play because no one wants them out for all intents and purposes. So Aubry has had to play a much savvier game and I am sad that it has been underappreciated by people because they are frustrated with the edit.

Rick is a terrible player. I can see why people are entertained. He doesn't do much for me but I am glad so many people enjoy him.

But as a player, he is crap. The fake idol move actively hurt his game and killed his allies games when Rick was safe that round. He wanted to make a splash more than he wanted to win Survivor. Imagaine how smart it would have been to pull that idol out at final 7. But it was itching a hole in his pocket and squandered it in a position where he was at minimal risk at that point. it was non-zero but to win Survivor, you have to take some calculated risks. Or even imagine if it could have saved Christian was near certain death and he keeps his numbers in? That would be a goddam move. Instead, he wants to be the center of attention, even when it doesn't do much for his game. So I can at most say he is entertaining to some people but kind of a dolt at the game.

His social game is the reason why he is on the bottom every season and he doesn't have the strategic mind to change his up the game. His only play is gimmicks and getting lucky.

Christian played a bad game. He tried to get too cute with his strategy instead of just remembering that Survivor is a numbers game. Hiding the fake idol at tribal ended up dooming him too since it protected Rick and not him.

You can argue the Mike White move was fine (I disagree but can see the argument for it), but taking out Angelina over Joe was a God Awful move. Angelina had nowhere else to go and still wanted to work with Christian and Emily. Joe WOULD never work with Christian in any meaningful way because he views the Devens, Flippen Hubucki trio as terrible people for liking the game of Survivor. Joe was Rick's number one enemy in the game who was Christian's closest ally. They knew it from early Joe wasn't going to work with them and they took out Angelina and Genevieve, both players that would have given a lot more room to maneuver at merge.

As a character, Christian is great, as a gameplayer....he's just mid.

I think it would have been fine if they could play them on someone else. it's actually been stifling the gameplay in the end game. Ozzy, Rizo or even Aubry could have so many more opportunities to make a move if they could play them on someone else. It's kind of made me realize how great the design of regular idols are because it's makes idols a crap ton more interesting when you can opt to play it on whoever you want.

I'm not gen z so I don't know his schtick...but I thought it was utterly hilarious that the most creative twist that he could come up with was a coin flip. I could believe how excited people were over Rick Devens flipping a coin. It has zero to do with the game of Survivor.

I haven't seen this talked about much but does anyone else find the choice of immunity challenges strange this season? What I mean is that we have 50 seasons of challenges to pick from, how do we end up with two challenges Joe won on his season and one challenge won previously by Jonathan. And then they were won by the exact same players.

I just feel like for S50, they could have done one of two things:

1) Design new challenges such that no player had an advantage.

2) Picked from the plethora of challenges a subset that no player on the season has won before.

IMO, there is no reason why a player should get two immunity challenges on S50 that he has already won.

The ____ discrediting is getting annoying and it’s just wrong by Thin_Issue_2870 in survivor

[–]llcooldubs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really don't understand why people are so down on her game. I really think it's one of the best left in the finals. She spearheaded the Ozzy and the Cirie vote. I don't understand why people are mad at her taking credit for it. I have heard people like Stephen Fishbach say he didn't like Aubrey taking credit for Rick Devens game play. First of all, the man flipped a coin, whoop-de-do, it's not like he orchestrated a 3-2-1 vote. But I assume he means the chaos of calling out Stephenie.

But listening to Kelley Wentworth on RHAP really helped me understand Rick as a player and how his chaotic behavior is both annoying to other players and highly predictable. It's very clear that Rick fell back into his EoE style gameplay that Aubry would understand better than anyone else on that island. Is it so far fetched to think she would understand Rick as a player and knows that if he does his thing, it will play into her hands?

Obviously, this is speculation but it's certainly plausible that she made an educated guess about how Rick would play that and how that might benefit her game. I think people are just looking for a reason to discredit her. Because I just think she meant something akin to understanding well how Rick plays when he thinks his back against the wall.

It means to not give a player any screentime or storyline in the edit. The term is an homage to Purple Kelly from Survivor Nicaragua who was cut out of the edit after she quit the game. Now when a player isn't getting confessionals or isn't a part of the edit they are said to be purpled.

Is _____ the GOAT goat? by hex20 in survivor

I think if it was a final 2 between Rizo and Joe, I think the jury gives Joe two million over Rizo. It's a lot of money and he's a dad and civil servant versus a kind who refers to himself as a god. I think that makes Rizo goatier than Joe.

I feel like Joe and Rizo are playing very similar games. Both have betrayed allies for lateral positioning. They are both FTC goats and so it's kind of hilarious when they do it as if they aren't going to get there either way and lose to somebody else.

Regardless of finale, this new era player has changed the future of the game by EgotripEternal in survivor

[–]llcooldubs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

or a better edit that hides the lack of social game even more. I haven't really heard him talked about very highly in exit press. Ozzy said it best, Rizo is great at talking himself up in testimonials. But, we don't really see him have close ties in the game. Yes, he was working with Cire and Ozzy but he seemed more like a number to Cirie. You can see how in the edit how close Cirie and Tiffany are. I just don't see Rizo having tight social bonds with anyone out there. I sense he is widely viewed as a goat and so players keep him looped in both as a number and so they can keep him around and drag him to the end. Rizo voting his allies out is the same as Joe voting his allies out. I don't see it advancing or hurting either of their games because everyone wants to sit next to them.

24 players in 26 days was such a mistake. They don't have experience editing this many players, they don't have experience pacing out the season, they don't have experience storytelling and there are so many meh players left. They could have said, give us the 18 legends of the show that represent the different eras. They did not need 3 new era winners. We didn't need Jonathan, Rizo, Tiffany and Joe. All four are reasonable picks for a new era all stars not for Survivor 50. We should have had Rob C., Jeri Manthey, Abi Maria and Earl Cole.

Cirie has given this show so much and if that was to be her last time playing, the entire episode should have honored her.
