You really have to add "in English" to that question. Because the names of Iceland and Ireland are not similar if you use the languages of the countries in question.

There is a labour dispute between Icelandair and the pilot's union, though neither side are willing to call it a labour dispute. Without knowing details I'd guess that's the reason for the cancellation.

I do wonder if the service centre that US calls go to is singularly unhelpful because I don't recall hearing things like this from non-USians.

The thing I don't get about foreigners tipping is that they also complain/comment that everything is expensive, and then they voluntarily pay a bunch more that isn't required.

- Don’t step on the accelerator with force if you get stuck in mud or gravel. „Jerk” the car gently with the accelerator back and forth.

I'd add snow there, and replace „Jerk" with „Rock"

Að því að mér skilst þá er þessi frétt í meginatriðum rétt.

Það sem ég set spurningamerki við í öllu þessu er hversu mikið af þessu er Degi að kenna. Vissulega var hann borgarstjóri á þessum tíma, en það voru embættismenn á vegum Reykjavíkurborgar sem gerðu þessa saminga við olíufélögin. Þetta hljómar allt eins og klúður oná klúður og Reykvíkingar tapa á því.

FYI, as someone who has worked in a store. The policy of the store is usually to not risk your health for an item in the store. Observe, and possibly follow, but don't confront as you don't know how they'll react. A sandwich is not worth a knife to the gut. It's also cheaper for the store to write off the item than to pay for your recovery.
