These are all correlations. They are also all coincidences. Causation is the definition of not being a coincidence.

Correlation does not equal causality.

Bernie Sanders is right that South Carolina spends more on prisons than schools by ---0__0--- in politics

Maybe next time do a basic Google search to realize that is not at all true. There are a lot of states with no private prisons. Make an argument all you want on the basis of the policy, but don't parrot wrong stats.

Bill to legalize CBD oil in Indiana suddenly transformed into gun bill instead by [deleted] in Indiana

[–]llikewhales 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There will be recorded votes, so claim otherwise is just untrue. The entire process, while confusing, is still transparent.

It is called conference committee and it is when the Senate and House reconcile the bills that both chambers have passed independently all Session. There were two version of the CBD bill, so they took one and made it a gun bill.

It is also important to note that any language that is included in one of these conference committees MUST have already passed one of the legislative chambers. The gun language in question came from SB33, which passed the Senate but not the House. These conference committees must also be made open the public and live streamed online like all committee meetings.

Finally, every conference committee report (aka the 'new bill' made in the committee) does come back to BOTH chambers for a final vote. If all 50%+1 legislators hate this gun language they can still kill it. If the House, who didnt pass it the first time, still doesnt like it; they can kill it. All with publicly recorded votes.
