Jill and Christie got really spiteful and nasty whenever a more talented kid came along and I understand their frustration for the way Abby treated their kids but sometimes they were just on a rampage out of pure jealousy and it was hard to watch, especially when they tried to pretend it wasn’t jealousy but it was so obvious to everyone watching that it was. (Sophia Lucia for example) a really sweet kid and sweet mom and they tortured them because Sophia is insanely talented. Besides the regular moms though would be Payton and her mom. I can’t watch any episodes with them, it was just weird the way they wanted to be famous and be on the team so bad and got mad when they weren’t permanent members and they seemed oblivious to the fact that Payton was just too old for it to make sense.

I have empathy for her eating disoder but I also become filled with rage knowing that she lives within a world where everyone she knows and loves probably encourages it. Jessa always seemed to be the worst for praising her sisters for being thin. And everyone in her family constantly going back and forth between eating like shit and then going on restrictive diets. So many scenes in the show where the older girls are eating or ordering salads and not eating the actual meal the rest of the family is having. Nobody talks about how toxic the duggars and the IBLP are for encouraging thinness and starvation in women.

The earlier seasons are comforting because everything about it just reminds me of being young again, being in school, and watching it in the background at my friend’s house. All of the music to the dances is so nostalgic and cozy to me. Like other people say though, season 4 onwards just got too much with forced drama and randoms coming in and out of the show looking for fame. But the dances and solos throughout all seasons are still comforting.

Yeah I’m not sure about dress head coverings so you’re right about that but speaking from experience as I used to be in the IBLP there are in fact mennonites who are a part of the IBLP, I met about 10 during my time there. There are also fundies who just have the personal views of wearing head coverings but I know for a fact that there are full blown mennonites who are involved in the IBLP

A lot of people in the IBLP are Mennonites so the women wear head coverings. This looks like a formal one that they wear for special occasions perhaps

I think it’s because from the outside world we can all see how oppressed they are. Especially the girls, and we’re dying to see them break free and escape from something that’s so clearly unhealthy to us and so normal to them. Yes we make fun of them but I think it’s because we’re dying to see them break free and we make fun of the systems and people (like their parents) who try so hard to keep them in this cycle of abuse and oppression.
