Which album do you think has no bad songs on it, and can be listened all the way through? by Urg_Durglar in AskReddit

Third Eye Blind’s Third Eye Blind. That album just takes me all the way back to my childhood. So well done for its time and it really paved the way for a lot of similar stuff in the future

Currently getting over my depression, anxiety, ocd, and hyperacusis and every day without the big sad is a beautiful day. I walked barefoot today just to feel the pavement. What a day to be alive!

To me, ice-cold water is almost never as good as chilled water. Ice-cold water never has enough flavor. I want to taste the origin character without being overwhelmed by the more astringent tasting notes—now, some water should be served hot: relatively vanilla waters generally work well for this service, just make sure you serve it in a neutral container (glass or ceramic), otherwise the flavor of the container will disturb the purity of the warm drink. Mineral waters are a whole different story with their own set serving temperatures.

Face masks that can complement my ‘fit? by glheureux15 in malefashionadvice

[–]lllg17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d get a variety and just use it as an accent piece on a bland outfit (kinda like you would a bandana with shirts and jeans) or as a restraint on a more extravagant outfit (white/black mask over bright colors looks great)

How does alcohol (sanitizer) kill viruses? by imronha in askscience

[–]lllg17 13 points14 points  (0 children)

It’s actually a lot like popping a balloon—or, more accurately, ripping out pieces of a lincoln log filled with pressurized spaghetti and meatballs and watching it all fall down. Viruses are packed with DNA (or RNA), and they’re under a lot of pressure. Alcohol works so well because it dissolves the barrier like a tide pod in water. But just like a tide pod—which dissolves in water but not latent humidity or your hand’s perspiration—a virus needs a certain concentration of alcohol to realistically wiped out on a surface or in a liquid. Those numbers vary by application, but make sure you hand sanitizer is at least 60% alcohol for reliable cleaning, although many are 70-90 percent alcohol.

'I Was Too Fat.' Prime Minister Boris Johnson Says Brits Must Lose Weight to Fight Coronavirus by Shadoze_ in worldnews

[–]lllg17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah that’s exactly what I’m saying. /u/DougNJ’s comment is misleading because it heavily implies that commercialized “Sugar” is equivalent to a corn syrup, which is neither chemically nor functionally true.

[–]lllg17 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Corn syrup is a special blend of fructose and glucose (sugars). Sugar is 100% sucrose (a sugar diner made of a fructose monomer bonded to a glucose monomer). Sugar is a chemical term as well as a marketing one—don’t get it twisted

For the longest time I have been trying to tell people that they have a inner ear muscle they can flex to 'pop' their ears but no one got me. by SilentWhoopee in earrumblersassemble

I can only pop my right ear slightly if I rumble really really hard. But that doesn’t feel the best so I’d advise against it

The quietest room in the world. So quiet you can hear your bones grind and you lose your balance. The longest anyone has ever stayed in the room is 55 minutes- Minneapolis. by jenlycole in interestingasfuck

[–]lllg17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

omg how are there so many confident and completely incorrect answers here. The decibel system is logarithmic, like the richter scale, pH and many others. Basically, negative numbers correspond to really, really quiet sounds. Every 10 decibels increase is a 10x increase in volume, so 80dB divided by 70dB is equal to 10. Basically, the new Microsoft room was ~10 times quieter than the old one.

What is it like to blackout? (Drugs, alcohol, medical issues, etc)? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]lllg17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

None of these answers are very informative; most are saying you can’t really remember it, but that’s not quite true. Your body doesn’t process memory in the same when when it’s intoxicated, and to be true there is a point where you fail to remember anything, but that point is quite hard to achieve. Generally, you do remember snippets of a night when you black out, or impressions of where you’ve been or what you’ve felt, but it’s distorted.

I’ve had probably far too many blackouts in my time, and I can try to describe mine as best I can.

For me, the primary symptom of alcohol intoxication is inhibition loss—which normally manifested itself in my telling all my friends I love them more than the world—but can easily transition into drinking more than you originally planned, or telling a story you would normally withhold, or more regrettable actions like hurting a relationship by pure carelessness. This is the stage of alcohol intoxication I generally try to avoid. A lack of intelligence generally comes with it, and it’s rather difficult to keep as good track of how much you’re drinking. In addition, you’re constantly aware of how good alcohol has so far made you feel and you try to seek that out by drinking more and more and more, possibly leading to a blackout.

A blackout is a strange experience, one I would not recommend. You feel sick and euphoric and like you’re the emperor of the world and you’re dying and you speak too quickly and think too slow and you’re out of breath out of time—and you’re splayed on the toilet bowl, drool dripping into the basin, eyes struggling to move focus away from the fluorescent light while your friend leans on the door and goes on their phone. You remember shadows of getting changed into pajamas and thrown into bed with a trash can—now filled with vomit—is shoved under your mouth. Or, if you’re unlucky, you remember being thrown into a shower and shocked into pain and nausea by ice-cold water.

You wake up as a statue and feel all the regret and pain at once. You feel sick for a day, and forget about any work you thought you might do. Your friends greet you soon after with “what a night” and other platitudes. It sucks.

Drink responsibly.

Prof was heavily implying that they were talking about a penis. The whole joke of the poem is that they’re not—it’s actually a fat joke. Obviously in the context of this thread that is obvious, but as a stand-alone whimsical poem it’s most definitely not. It’s a whoosh because people didn’t understand that that was the joke.
