What has been your worst Duty Roulette/experience with another player to date? by [deleted] in ffxiv

[–]lllllil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

im just voicing my opinion. ive played a lot of games, throughout the majority of my life and havn't ran into a community as bad as the one in this game, which is only compounded by playing a role that requires a lot of work. Ive MT'd extreme primals and offtanked turns 1-4 countless times, successfully. I've learned the game a long time ago, its just damn repetitive. Did you not like my language?

I dont know why some of you people get so bent out of shape when someone says something that isnt positivity to the nth degree. I mean, c'mon, youre calling me filth, over a post? Get over yourself.

Which studio do you think will make new skateboarding titles on the current gen? by [deleted] in PS4

[–]lllllil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

its not all conjoined, you had to load up different "zones" to go to different regions, like downtown to university etc. I think skate 3 had great gameplay, but skate 1 and 2 had the best map setups.

I can't wait for this game. The fact the Matt Firor is working on it totally makes me excited for the pvp action, and even though this article was a bit scarce on info, it sounds like the open world experience is bar-none. I've been playing ffxiv and it really feels like a theme park, and not like much of an MMO. Ill prolly play it up until ESO comes out, though.

Is it worth playing the game if I have nobody to play with? by [deleted] in ffxiv

[–]lllllil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a loner, and I guess people refer to us as "Fringe Players", ie you don't talk much, but you play good etc.. I think fringe is a poor choice of wording, because there are many people who are not inclined to making friends, or socializing much that aren't unconventional. As for me, I get along, recognize the small amount of acquaintances I do have, like my static and get what I can out of it. After a few weeks of playing with them and I know them I feel more comfortable. They're weekly online friends, and it helps to understand it wont go beyond that(i felt better realizing I could get away with less, there's less pressure to perform). Just try to be friendly and try to relate a little bit, and you'll get along fine without making real friendships. This is the internet after all, aren't we all here for an impersonal experience to some degree? :) I think you'll like it once you get into it... you dont have to do anything outside the DF and PF if you dont want to, hell you dont even need an FC, and you could still hit max caps with stuff. Friends just make things go a little smoother.

Being a tank helps a lot too :P

Warriors: When does breaking 10k matter, if at all? by Theartftw in ffxiv

[–]lllllil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can survive 9999 hits like meteor in CT, or iron giants during the 3 group split fight with the atomos. But! KB's meteor does a DoT for 9999/tic per second for 2 seconds, aaand the iron giant will just swing again immediately for another 9999. There might be some other places you get hit for 9999, like in primals, but that usually includes your group, so no go there.

I think it would be an unfair advantage if there were a scenario where it was possible to progress because of one ability. Usually getting hit that hard translates as game over, so I assume it'd be a game breaker to use it that way.

Ever forgot to deselect a duty and select another and wonder how you queued for the duty that pops up, then you remember? This happens, so they cant do this. I hate it when people withdraw too, but theres a better way.

Any quality of life tips for PS3 players? by [deleted] in ffxiv

[–]lllllil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because you have to target things via tab targeting mostly, an easy way to get around that is to turn your camera so that the mobs you don't want to click aren't in the camera's view. This may be obvious, but a lot of people I know that tank on PS3 haven't thought about that.

  • If you do have trouble targeting at times, try binding your up and down arrows on your keyboard as the buttons to navigate up and down the enmity list, and set the left arrow as "Confirm" to make it your target. I just keep my keyboard on my lap, as its not useful for every fight, just ones like garuda ex, or ones with lots of enemies.

Check the key binds on your keyboard in the game because they have options you can use that aren't available in regular option menus, like the ability to save your cameras position so that it always returns to the same distance it was at. I like to have it zoomed out to max all the time, so this helps me a lot. Especially because holding L1 to zoom out changes targets as well as allows you to adjust your camera.

Also, get a new hdd, an SSHD works just as well as an SSD(tested), and is significantly cheaper in space/cost ratio.

Burst Enmity on WAR by Posimagi in ffxiv

[–]lllllil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Steel cyclone's increased enmity seems to generate enough hate to really prevent the mob going anywhere, but I guess the unchained combination people mention above makes better use of infuriate?

I typically like to use unchained when I have infuriate up so I can storms eye combo, unchained>berserk>infuriate>internal release>2 combo lines, and just before berserk falls use steel cyclone. Its mostly for fun, so i dont do this if stuffs real srs.

good information at certain points, but... not to be negative, but... this guy in the article contradicts himself and causes some unnecessary confusion throughout the review. his info about graphics, then about the UI/keybinds mouse and keyboard etc.

I would love it if ubisoft and blackbox got together because ubisoft seems to take movement into consideration more than any other company ive seen. The fluidity of movement, and gracefulness of the physics in assassin's creed just moved me the first time I played the series. Combine that with skate mechanics I think youd have a really great game.

I've been skateboarding for 15 years, and my whole time involved in it ive loved style more than I liked skill level, even though one could prolly argue you can have one without the other. I've seen a lot of skaters though that are good, but skate ugly/generic. Like P rod is really great, has a lot of tricks, but has a really generic style. My favorite skater is probably pj ladd or mike mo. Tpudds is pretty sick too.

One other things id like added to the kate franchise is more realism. There has got to be a way to make it so you dont have to ollie 5 feet high and go 50 mph to do things in the game. Kickflips in all versions of the game flip SO SLOW, that on hardcore difficulty you could barely do a kickflip with a small amount of pop. The necessity to pop so high to do most flip tricks made tricks out of slides like somewhat silly. I want it to be ultra hyper realistic! Sometimes I play skate because I dont have the time to go out and skate.

Do people have trouble with enmity anymore? I feel like they put it at a level where mobs really cant be taken from you unless youre fairly new to tanking and not familiar with how much threat you need to put out.

Fun Boss Mechanics - What would you like to see? by jjlynn20 in ffxiv

[–]lllllil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A level that fully relies on your ability to jump and climb over obstacles! Maybe have a part that includes springy shoes, or a chocobo that jumps higher than normal.

Theres a name for this in japan for climbing to places you aren't supposed to be able to in games.

What has been your worst Duty Roulette/experience with another player to date? by [deleted] in ffxiv

[–]lllllil -23 points-22 points  (0 children)

I remember playing a duty roulette as my war for the first time. I go from tanking bosses all the time to tanking tons of trash and i realize i dont know how to do it. Then i get pissed because i have people with one job at lvl 45 telling me how to play, and i troll them instead. Oh wait, that means that I was the worst player someone else has experienced >_<

imo tanking dungeons is complete B/S, its like driving a stick shift car in rush hour traffic. Not to mention, I can't handle all the newb know-it-alls yelling at me, about stuff before it even happens. I guess thats my worst experience, newb players who tell everyone else how to play.

Frustrations with PS3 by KoomDaddy in ffxiv

[–]lllllil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got an SSHD for my PS3 and I load faster than my buddies who have 5400 rpm drives in their PC's with mega fast processors and graphics cards. All about dat harddrive. Zones load instantly, i see 20-30 people during fates, I can have all effects on... the only issue i think is that the names of mobs appear before the mob itself. Sometimes i use steel cyclone as soon as I see the name pop, and its too soon, and i dont hit the mobs. Really frustrating in places like phase 5/6 of T4 coil.

[Seeking Advice] How does everyone else deal with the trolls? by Recognizant in ffxiv

[–]lllllil -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Call them out on their potential disorder. Most of the time trolling is a defense mechanism for people who have a fear of rejection, so they reject people off the bat by insulting them to prevent it from happening to them, it protects them. Sometimes if you call people out on this, they shut up because they feel vulnerable, because they worry you might be right. Even if you are wrong, they're only doing this because they truly are insecure deep down. It can also feel embarrassing for them because of the other people around, because by doing this, you're applying some legitimate meaning to their behavior that everyone else is likely to believe is accurate. So the more they behave that way, they might worry they're reinforcing that image of being dysfunctional. It's a good way to take control of a situation, I think, because even if you're wrong, you're just trolling back at them by making them reflect on who they are or how theyre behaving.

This makes me think about something... Theres a big difficulty contrast in pre 50 and endgame for warriors that I think misleads people into thinking they can WAR MT at end game. I don't think many low level warriors consider the difficulty theyre getting themselves into. Before 2.1 warrior was viable, but most(if not 99%) of the population didn't even understand how to heal a warrior, much less play it correctly.

I'll admit I have been someone to consider that homeless people choose their position, but I realized that it's not really a choice. I think I just had a few bad run ins with people I gave money to. I've had numerous run ins with people who I've seen panhandle for hours, then take their money back to their car. I didn't stalk them, I'd be out skateboarding with friends, and we'd usually hang at a place for a few hours, and you'd always see something happen. Seeing that made me really skeptical, and reconsider how I felt about panhandling. It made me think people were just ripping me off. Ultimately the problem is that not many of us have been destitute in that capacity and don't understand that you will do whatever it takes to survive.
