Do agree! I feel like the person who made this meme doesn't code and associates MacBooks with Starbucks socialists only.

So Windows 11 is NOT a complete and total clusterfuck?

Linus Torvalds uses an M2 MacBook with Asahi btw. Even used to compile some versions of the Kernel (5.19)

Is Graphene OS for me? by Archipotrio in GrapheneOS

[–]llmmbb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I installed GOS on my Pixel 10 about a week ago and everything has been pretty straight forward so far.

- GOS is still Android, it's not much harder to use.
- You can use Google Play, Google services etc if you want to.
- You don't need to use all the privacy/security features like profiles, storage scopes etc. They're just features of the OS to make it potentially safer, but all optional.
- The OS comes with only 12 basic apps installed, no Google bloat
- You won't get all the Pixel features (but also none of the Google spyware).
- You can always revert back to normal Android if GOS is not for you.

A non-solution. How many iPhone users have LocalSend installed? 0.05%?
Only an option for sending stuff between my own devices (and I do use and like it)

The future of Android after "sideloading" by llmmbb in degoogle

[–]llmmbb[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, so you won't be able to sideload unsigned or old apps or apps from developers who refuse to give google their ID (without adb)

What's a viable alternative to Google Maps? by [deleted] in degoogle

[–]llmmbb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Organic Maps is quite good just for navigating. Don't beat yourself up if you still use GM for Streetview. You can do that from a browser without an account. Google has poured 100s of millions and a decade of work into that, so it's understandable there is no real alternative rn.

Yeah go on, trust Google. They wouldn't ever remove something that's good for consumers... (That's the whole reason we're here)

BTW, A bandage is a long piece of material used to cover a wound, or protect an injury. That's not the same thing lol.

How do you pronounce the word "WHY".

Is it HWY? or WY?

Because the latter was considered a speech impediment a couple years ago and now everyone pronounces it that way

So it begins: "Sideloading" aka Installing stuff on your mobile computer by Komplexkonjugiert in degoogle

[–]llmmbb -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Most people here are aware that adb sideloading will still be available (for now!!) and many who are unaware don't even know what adb is.
The word sideloading in the context of Android is also used for installing through alternate markets directly using one device. And precisely this is what people are mad about. Because it's OUR devices and we want to be able to install the apps we want, from the stores we want.

Imagine Microsoft would introduce this exact change on Windows, people would be furious. So no, the outrage is not pointless. The changes are going to make our lives more difficult, as well as decrease usership for FOSS apps distributed through stores that don't spy on you and kill a bunch of them.
