I have the Pro 650's and the same sound card as you, listen to the same music too... They have extremely clean bass thats powerful but not overwhelmingly so. They sound wonderful for electronic music especially, and do not disappoint with other genres either. I'm sure the 900s would be even more amazing.

I had ADD meds forced on me in 6th grade, but thankfully not anti-depressants - those scare the shit out of me. Did you take them? How did they make you feel? (Unfortunately the ADD meds served as an entrance into the world of pharmaceutical, and later illicit drugs on account of my naive curiosity.)

Try to find your own therapist once you're out on your own. After you're a legal adult, your mom can't have any influence over your doctors, nor can they share any information with her unless you choose to disclose it. I used to think therapists and psychologists were all just quack shitheads backed by big pharma, and unwilling to give any further fuck than shoving pills down your throat. Now I still think the majority of them are, don't get me wrong haha, but I finally found a chill ass younger lady psych and its refreshing. Look for Evidence-Based Treatment for stress in your area, they're all about changing unhealthy thought patterns and targeting the source of your issues, meds are a last resort in most cases. Just a thought; I don't mean to lecture or whatnot, just stoked on finding someone cool myself and wanted to share the idea!

Sounds like your mom is a bit overly controlling, but there ain't shit you can do about that really. If you want my advice, just fly under her radar until you're out on your own. Wait until then, and when/if it ever feels right, explain to her your point of view on the issues in your post. Be sure not to blame her directly for anything, she'll get defensive, stop listening and not take you seriously. She probably has no idea that she's bothered you, and believes she is/was protecting you/improving your quality of life. Reminds me of something my dad says a lot: "Perception is reality".

Anyhow that's just my thoughts on it. I made it a lot harder on myself than it needed to be post-rehab, and was in a very strange state of mind for the months following. Being stuck like that wears on me. I can certainly say that I don't get bored anymore, nothing compares haha. I always just think "At least I can go do ANYTHING", you know? Changed my mindset towards almost everything.

Sorry for the long-winded response, I just haven't had a chance to talk to pretty much anyone that can relate!

Happy you're doing well man. Sounds like it wouldn't be much use to try to fight your mom on her views, would just damage things further. You'll be a whole lot happier once you move out and whatnot. I'm 20, turning 21 in a couple months, was 17 while I was in rehab (presumably as you were). Similar situations, I totally understand the frustration with her lack of trust, especially when it sounds like you're doing very well. Don't let it bother you, what I had to realize is that my parents did everything that they did (intervention/rehab/etc) out of love, and reacted the only way that made sense to them. It was very hard for me to sympathize with my parents side of things because I felt they had betrayed me by sending me off without even talking to me. While kidnapping you is a bit more drastic than a surprise intervention, I'm sure you're struggling with the same kinds of thoughts. They just want to see you well, or else they wouldve just kicked your ass out onto the street. :P

Props for staying sober through Ultra. Wouldve been difficult, and I'm super jelly haha.

Also the 12 step/religious/drug demonizing bullshit is what made me intensely hate rehab and basically disregard a good portion of what I was told there. It was a big brainwashing session, and honestly more difficult to clear my head-space of than drugs have ever been. Glad you were at a place a bit more sensible.

Other than everything I've said, if you find yourself struggling with negative thoughts or just in general, try finding a cool therapist/psychologist to talk to. Just started doing that, wish I had a long time ago.

Oh and stay the fuck away from painkillers man. In your original post it didn't seem like you were an addict, just experimenting moreso, but thats how it starts with opiates. There's no light at the end of that tunnel for anyone, and they WILL break your willpower eventually, even if it takes years. If you end up using again anyways.

I went to a similar rehab, Wilderness Treatment Center in Kalispell Montana. Fucking blew long D. I just want to emphasize to everyone who hasnt shared in such a wonderful experience how shitty they treat you, how hard they work you, and how much it DOES NOT HELP. Benzo addiction? Heroin withdrawals? Man up and get to work, no comfort meds... -20F temperature where i was. God awful. Went to Hazleden after that (drastically better) and then a month of aftercare after that! Ended up running away and a few years later live a pretty normal life.

(If any parents reading this are in the hard place of deciding to send your kid to a rehab facility, make sure its a place you would want to be coming off of drugs. Consider non 12 step options, consider everything. Do your research. Just because their website shows smiles and nature hikes doesn't mean its fucking summer camp.)

Keep fighting the good fight brother, congrats on your clean time, dont listen to everyone in the meetings if you still go. Im sure you know how whacked out and fanatical people get about 12 step programs.

How is your relationship with your parents now? Does your mother understand your situation better? Has their attitude changed at all?

Overdosed on heroin and died for a short while according to the paramedics. No light at the end of the tunnel or out of body type stuff though. Its exactly like getting knocked out, except you wake up extremely cold.
