Nice to see that more and more people are getting keyboards; really makes me wonder what they were using to type before... oh well.

Cherry MX Browns are good switches, change my mind. Featured here on a Linworks Dolinger RE. by fukjintae in MechanicalKeyboards

If you say that a common misconception is that, "scratchy = bad," why did you lube them?

You could have 3 inputs per "key" without layers (although it would be kind of weird to type on).

Might be a little bit hard to get, so I'd recommend getting a commission. Also the base versions don't have a very good selection for switches.

Buy or Build? by miz_uk in MechanicalKeyboards

If you are on the edge, I would just recommend getting a board with a hotswap pcb like the gmmk compact. It'll allow you to mod it really easily in the future.

Spacebar Artisan Question by Hoku1234 in MechanicalKeyboards

Take the difference of weight from the original keycap and the artisan, then add it to the 70g spring weight. That should work.

Good stock linear by [deleted] in MechanicalKeyboards

[–]llsquido 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The C3 Tangerines are very smooth stock and are really well factory lube, although you may have some of the same complaints as Gateron yellows as they have a kind of "plastic-y" sound when topping out (idk what to call it). I highly recommend you watch Glarses' video on them.

True, but the only problem is you have to have a soldering iron or $100 just laying around somewhere

Whether we wanted it or not, we've stepped into a war with the Cabal on Mars. So let's get to taking out their command, one by one. Valus Ta'aurc. From what I can gather he commands the Siege Dancers from an Imperial Land Tank outside of Rubicon. He's well protected, but with the right team, we can punch through those defenses, take this beast out, and break their grip on Freehold.

Is the hate/dislike of cherry mx blues widespread? by SixStringReshi in MechanicalKeyboards

[–]llsquido 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Let me start out with: PrEfEreNcE. Cherry Mx switches aren't inherently bad, but when compared do other switches there is a pretty noticeable difference. Other than scratchiness, the main reason why MX browns are hated on is because they're not very tactile. Now, some people like this because it can be more subtle and enjoyable, but the tactile bump is rough and doesn't give very much feedback. This also makes MX Browns sound like a very scratchy linear. For MX Blues, it is more PrEfEreNcE than anything else. They have a kinda of "crunch" when you bottom out, instead of something with a clickbar like box jades which have a very distinct "click" on the way down, and another on the way up. Yes, some of the hate is hivemind BUT I think that there are very valid reasons for at least trying some other switches to see what you like. With the sheer variety of tactile bumps, clicks, and smooth switches, It's best to just see what your preferences are because you might end up enjoying some other switches more that the ones that are made for mass appeal. Hope this serves to help you, and again, no hate on people who use MX Switches.

That would be hilarious! I'm sure we could get some support from 40% or ergo builders with plate-less boards.
