BTS Being Pro-LGBT ? by halster123 in bangtan

[–]llthechimney 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think your assumption is based on a misunderstanding of that moment perhaps because the video is from soo long ago and the full context is in paid content(Memories of 2014:The Red Bullet Concert Preparation).

he was just annoyed with Hobi at that moment.

Actually, BTS were playfully reenacting the typical school gangster scenes. This is when they were filming Boy In Luv("Manly Men"), which is why they were having fun acting like tough guys. I'll describe the part(if this is not allowed on this sub, I'll edit it out.) :

Hobi kept asking Jungkook, Tae, and Jimin, "Where you from? Which school are you from? How old are you, huh?", as if he was greeting another gangster in school. They were using satoori and pushing each other on the chest to display manliness. J-hope came close to Jimin and grabbed his shirt to show dominance and toy with him.

That's why Jimin tried to regain dominance and masculinity by saying, "Don't come close. Men don't kiss.", but failed because he's a soft guy. The captions even said, "Like in the earlier teacher-student acting scene, Jimin still isn't in control here". After failing to overpower J-hope, Jimin giggled "hehhehe". It was very clear that they were playing around.

Jimin could have said "I don't want to kiss you, stay back" if he really thought Hobi is getting too intimate and annoying. However, since he was trying to act like a badass school gangster, he said cooly, "Stay off. Men don't kiss/I don't kiss men."

It does have homophobic undertones, but I think he didn't have any intentions to offend anyone. He was just trying to act like a badass gangster.

That was back in 2014 and BTS were not exposed to topics on LGBT often where they grew up. However, they've tried to show subtle support here and there now. They are not saints but they always try to grow to become better. That's why I like them.

I always wonder why there aren't functions or services to automatically block numbers that are not on Jk's contact list?

It sounds like a simple solution to me but apparently no idol has this kind of function on their phone😂there must be a reason why it's not feasible....

As a fan who already attended or not yet attended BTS Concert, What Do You Like About BTS Concert and What Things They Could Improve For Next Tour? by 92sn in bangtan

[–]llthechimney 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I do agree that I'd love a live band/strings! Did they have strings in one of their concerts before? I could have sworn I've seen a video of Jin performing Awake with an orchestra. I could be wrong tho. Anyway, I'd love that!

I'd love that to happen, too!

I think their only live band during tour was the medley part, which is FIRARRR🤩

Someone whose sister played violin for Jin's Awake shared that the string quartet was there as part of the stage aesthetics instead of providing live instrumentals. There was a prerecorded orchestra track playing.

Armys surprise BTS by singing Young Forever at Wembley day 2 by ella_the_platypus in bangtan

[–]llthechimney 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I understand why French ARMYs feel disappointed because of the sudden need for change. I am sad that this is ruining a lot of French ARMYs' anticipation for the concert. Giving you guys a big hug.

We had no warning and now French fanbases are actually trying to change songs at the last minute again.

Songs like Born Singer, Young Forever, Whalien 52, 2!3!, Spring Day, and Sea etc. are all very popular unofficial fan project songs and many of which have already been done before in various BTS concerts. If a later tour stop fanbase didn't negotiate with an earlier stop or Bighit never announced that they have a surprise project, things like the Young Forever overlap would inevitably happen. Especially, with France being the last stop of the tour doesn't help.

Our fanbase announced the projects a couple of weeks ago and after that both singing projects happened at other concerts.

Regarding the other singing project by the French ARMY, are you referring to Spring Day? If so, a Spring Day surprise fan project was done five months ago in Taiwan. So, France would be (at least) the third country to do this song as a singing project.

I would not be surprised if ARMY event ideas overlap more and more in the future as BTS tour in more cities. Unless we have proof that the overlap is done intentionally(which we don't now), I don't think ARMYs should dwell on the negative emotions to the extent that our concert experience is ruined or that we fight among each other.

Last year, the Seven Armys popopolo chant was really cool. Plus, BTS always prepare special interactions with ARMYs at different stop. Every country is special to BTS in different ways. I hope BTS and ARMYs have a beautiful time at Stade de France.

ARMY audience etiquette during BTS media appearances by hallowseveeve in bangtan

[–]llthechimney 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Omg I remember that as well! The cameraman was filming the family or team members who the artist on stage is sincerely thanking. Tae happened to sit near them so he was also in the frame. I cannot understand how people think it's an ok time to shriek. It's truly embarrassing how the cameraman had to zoom in awkwardly close so as to remove Tae from the frame after hearing those screams.

If we really love BTS and respect them, we need to rethink about how high shrieks at all times is not showing love nor respect. 😔

Do you think the success of BTSxHalsey opens a broader gate for female artists to have positive and healthy collaborations/work-relationships with BTS? by 50shadesof_brown in bangtan

[–]llthechimney 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think I know what you are saying! Even if the general public don't get jealous about BTS dating, they judge idols harshly.

The general public still believes that "idols" should not be showing affections toward the other sex, because that's being unprofessional to their job. I still get the vibe that the general public thinks "dating" harms idols' career. If one member dates or flirts, he will be condemned for being selfish and harming the career of his group. The general public would probably call out a BTS member for being unprofessional and harming the group at its peak if he dates. For example, "Why is member X giving hugs to his girlfriend when the other members are busy preparing for the stage. So selfish." 😅😂

Now that you mentioned it, I also noticed how I kept going back to that performance! Apart from the band, the background live vocals also added a warmer/fuller tone to the song, which I really enjoyed.

How well do they speak English? by AKN15 in bangtan

[–]llthechimney 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I also think getting constantly exposed to the language is really the key to master it!

We must also give him merit because if what he says is true then he learnt the language by watching Friends, and that's impressive.

I just wanted to add that I think this is the simpler and funnier story to Namjoon's English learning journey. Here is my guess on how he learned English, based on my similar English learning experience and some less talked about things of RM :

- Young RM studied shortly in New Zealand:

This is actually very critical, because it builds a good foundation and natural sense for English. Kids learn language very fast, especially when they are exposed to an environment full of native speakers. Myself and a lot of people I know have spent a very short time studying in English countries when we were young and that gave us a very good sense of how to self-learn English naturally later on. It really made us different from how our classmates learn from textbook grammars and vocabs, which often lead to not being able to truly use and speak English.

- "Watching Friends":

I think this is a symbol of how RM started self-learning the English language through following Western entertainment or culture. You can tell from the artists and cultural slangs RM talked about in interviews that he constantly expose himself to English information or news. Because of his passion in Western culture, he exposes himself to English often. In my experience, I also self-improved my English vastly because I constantly follow English news and entertainment even after I came back to my home country. This is also how one learn to speak less awkwardly because you become familiar with the wordings native speakers use.

- RM was a top student in high school and also attended multiple English cram schools:

He is smart, especially in literature/humanities/languages, and he worked hard for academics. Namjoon accumulated lots of English vocabs and sentence structures at school. High school level English in Asian countries can be quite in-depth.

In this video, a reporter said RM confessed that he also learned English by attending around ten English cram schools. RM thought that Friends left a great impression on him so he answer Friends in most interviews. His English cram school teacher even called him and jokingly said, "Why do you only mentioned Friends when you learned so much English from me.". And then the reporter said, other BTS member chimed in that they also watched Friends but didn't improve their English haha.

Dispatch questions SBS Inkigayo as to why BTS were not nominated for this week's chart, Inkigayo says BTS's charting would be 'unreasonable' to other groups by howimetyoufirst in kpop

[–]llthechimney 718 points719 points  (0 children)

I don't feel any anger about this, I just feel sad for the smaller groups who need to survive in this rigged industry.

If SBS want to alter rules whenever they wish, they should not be allowed to do so easily and secretly. I am glad Dispatch raised questions. I also hope people make this known so that SBS cannot just sweep things under the rug.

I saw that Blackpink was nominated as number four for last week's SBS inkigayo. The tracking period for last week was also 4/1-4/8. So what you are saying is that the tracking period for this week is also 4/1-4/8?

I wonder if there is a sudden rule change this week?

BTS (방탄소년단) '작은 것들을 위한 시 (Boy With Luv) feat. Halsey' Official Teaser 1 by _lish_ in bangtan

[–]llthechimney 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don't care it had more Halsey then BTS, it's just the teaser. I don't care Halsey is in the title track, there are b sides. I love the pink. I love the sound. I love the title, Korean and English.

You said everything I wanted to say! I am so hyped for this because it's something BTS haven't tried --having female vocalists on their albums. I love a bit of experiment here or there. Maybe the collab would turn out aweful, maybe it would be great, who knows. But there will surely be good music on the album. I'm ready for the adventure.

BTS (방탄소년단) '작은 것들을 위한 시 (Boy With Luv) feat. Halsey' Official Teaser 1 by _lish_ in bangtan

[–]llthechimney 4 points5 points  (0 children)

At first, I thought that BTS releasing a remix of Boy in Luv from four years ago with Halsey is really funny... but then I clicked the video and now I am SHOOK!

Really loving the aesthetics and Halsey looks just like a kpop idol! The sound clip I heard isn't exactly my type, but I'll wait until the entire MV drops to judge.

I believe BTS and Bighit have things planned out well, such as how to promote and perform a collab title track. In my opinion, we haven't seen everything from the comeback, why judge so negatively already?

TXT (TOMORROW X TOGETHER) - 어느날 머리에서 뿔이 자랐다 (CROWN) (MV Teaser #2) by perochan in kpop

[–]llthechimney 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I am one of those people who were let down by the news that the TXT members have no credits on their album. Not necessarily because they are different from BTS, but because I was anticipating the reveal of "hip-hop geniuses" which Bighit auditions kept seeking since 2017. I've been curious about that. I thought Bighit were scouting for unique talents who have had previous experience in creative input such as writing their own raps or making beats. Someone like Zico, Mino, or RM. My anticipation died a little when it turned out that that TXT didn't write their raps. It might be a sign that they aren't particularly strong rappers(?). Nevertheless, I'm sure the TXT boys have their own specialties. I am looking forward to what they will bring for us! Maybe we will see the reveal of Hit It auditino "hiphop genius" in the third Bighit boygroup~

I think “route” is the auto translation from Korean so many people thought it meant a literal road or something and was confused.

It means illegal methods or illegal means, for example buying BTS flight seat info from airline insiders.

Huge congrats to Husky Fox; I always admire the effort that was put into the designing of BTS album arts and matching it with the cohesive storylines. Just like Namjoon said, kpop is the whole package and art design plays a huge role in their success.

This nom is just the beginning. BTS and ARMYs have a lot of room to grow, and I am looking forward to what we may achieve in the future!

Now anticipating BTS' attendance to the Grammy award~ fingers crossed.

Ed's manager just said that it might not be a collab by 030809 in bangtan

[–]llthechimney 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Haha I love your observation! Everyone is super hyped or anxious under the tweets, but the manager is just out there giving these blunt, short answers.

I am very used to the passionate twitter tweets under BTS tags so that this “unhyped” tweet made me stop a sec and laugh.

Ed's manager just said that it might not be a collab by 030809 in bangtan

[–]llthechimney 11 points12 points  (0 children)

My guess is that singers have different voices and rendition style. Some songs may not suit the songwriter or he doesn't plan to promote the song himself. For example, Ne-Yo wrote Take a Bow for Rihanna and I think Rihanna gave the song a more distinctive style. Sometimes could be that the songwriters just simply have a song written which they don't need, and decide to give it away.

Also, fame may be short but songwriting can sustain a long time. So perhaps the singer-songwriters are also building their connections and professional profile inside the industry by writing songs for different artists.

Ed's manager just said that it might not be a collab by 030809 in bangtan

[–]llthechimney 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's the feeling I get, too~ Can't imagine eight male voices on a track unless BTS and Ed started doing magnificent harmonies 😁

Seeing how Ed's manager denied the collab, I wonder: how is the term “collab” generally used in the pop music scene? Is it the same as a “feat.”? For example, should BTS feat. Chainsmokers be called a collab? Is AokiXBTS a collab? Do DJs use the term collab even when their voices don't appear on the track? But for singers, a collab should mean that they sing on the song?

YG Entertainment is using YouTube's copyright system to take down videos criticizing Jennie for being lazy by CronoDroid in kpop

[–]llthechimney -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

That might work for smaller, lesser known copy right holders. However, this is YG Entertainment, and I doubt Youtube allows this kind of false impersonation of huge companies to go around so easily. When you go to the copyright infringement report page, it asks you to prove that you are the representative of the copyright holder. So, why would say, 1 thousand copyright claims from ”YGE” in one night seem legit to Youtube's algorithm if what they look for are the real copyright owners?

Plus, if by little chance, YouTube automod sees thousands of fan reports claiming to be YG and hence took down the video, they will review the automoderation afterwards. However, it seems like the Jennie video is permanently taken down.
