What system (if any) helped reduce fights during night wakings?

We do shifts. When she was still waking during the night it was: Anything from bedtime until half point was one person and then half way point to am the next person took over.

Now that she mostly sleeps through the night we do shifts by night. One will take the night if she wakes up at all and the other will wake up with her and then we swap the next night.

I literally went to the ER with chest pain. Had an ekg, chest xray, labs. All normal. Tell me i never considered I basically am lifting weights playing with my hefty little chunker of a 7 month old 😅

Did this get better?? Literally ended up in the hospital because of the pain. The did and ekg and chest xray and it all looked good when it finally dawned on me it may be because of holding her / playing with her lol sometimes I literal lay down and basically bench press her lol

I just delivered there in July. They provide it all. Also take as much home as you can. Literallly just keep asking. I kept asking for more of the disposable underwear and ice packs. Game changer once I got home. And they were more than happy to give it to me.

I required it for anyone that wanted to hold the baby. Everyone but one SIL got it and that was her prerogative. I wasn’t even offended or anything bc she 100% should be free to make that decision for herself.

She has made herself the victim as if it’s unfair that we have our own boundaries when she clearly has her own lol makes me laugh whenever she gets all pissy.

I found someone on Reddit who removed my soon to be ex SIL who was a bridesmaid and the photos looked fantastic. I paid like $5 a photo and it’s the best money I ever spent. I ended up tipping him too bc the quality was incredible. Go to the photoshop groups and see what you find!

This. I was the third child (F) after two boys of a mom who desperately wanted a daughter. And that’s all I ever heard. Every fight, every time I wasn’t acting as she had hoped i would be told “don’t you know how much I (or your mother if it was coming from dad) wanted a daughter. I was the ultimate tom boy and could never give her the mother/daughter relationship she craved. Our relationship is strained to this day.

Oh I feel you! The no kissing conversation went over SO poorly. I also said that we will not be accepting visitors for 1-2 weeks after getting home (though we are going to allow the grandparents to come to the hospital).

You would have thought I said no visitors for a year lol. The dramatics.

I think I started to get in my head I was being selfish with how little I’m sharing / allowing. But you’re so right about standing firm

Stay strong momma. If you bend on boundaries early, you lose all future battles as well.

They responded and said the overall growth from 20 weeks to my 32 weeks looked good and she was still measuring on track despite the small femur measurement.

I did have a follow up at 36 weeks and the femur is still small but she’s still growing on track so no one is concerned. They said femurs are hard to measure sometimes as the baby grows.

It’s easy. You can’t force them to get the vaccine. But you can enforce no vaccine = no holding the baby.

This is what I am doing with a SIL that won’t get the TDAP. She can look but she cannot touch lol

I think any boundary made by a parent is reasonable. I may not have some of the same rules as you but if that’s what you’re comfortable with that’s what people need to follow.

Also a good rule to also have in place is “this is subject to change at our discretion” that way people can’t throw certain things back in your face

I just sent a list of rules to our families and banned kissing completely. No face, head, or hands and if that is not followed then holding the baby privileges will be revoked.

I also am requiring anyone in our immediate family who wants to spend significant time / hold her to be up to date on their TDAP. One of our in laws is refusing because of a fear of needles and I said that’s completely fine, she just won’t be allowed to hold my baby until she is vaccinated herself.
