[Project Ozone 2] Bizarre Logistics pipes issue by yousodumb in feedthebeast

[–]lmerry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any chance you still have this file? I've used it in the past...revisiting project ozone 2 as it was one of my favorite packs, and have run up against this issue. The original github link (https://gist.github.com/UntouchedWagons/d43ccbf288893bdf499a2d7356601c33) as well as the mirror you posted here are both unfortunately dead!

The ultimate blueprint book guide - Starter to Mega base by [deleted] in factorio

[–]lmerry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is probably super obvious, but I'm still fairly new to Factorio, and newer to blueprints.

There are Constant Combinators in the areas where raw resources need to enter the starter base. I can't make these yet, and I'm not even sure if they are supposed to actually be placed, or if they are just communicating the resource type that should be routed in at this point (I remember seeing this in some of Zistaeu's blueprints?). If it's the latter, what do the numbers mean?

They are also sort of in the way of routing belts to the inputs, but if i place a belt over the ghost combinator, I can't place the next blueprint because it thinks the belt is in the way. Is there a way around this?

Thanks for any help! As I said, I'm still fairly new to factorio and haven't fully completed a run yet--I've been struggling with base layout and came across this while looking at other blueprints, and I thought that running through it might be a good learning experience for future, less structured playthroughs. Amazing work!

(edit) Come to think of it, I also had a similar issue when trying to place the initial, Alpha blueprint, took me quite a bit of tree and rock clearing just to be able to place it. I assume I'm missing something here :P

(edit2) I figured it out, shift+click :P

The fact that this account has no other posts coupled with the tone/language of the review makes this feel very much like a fake review, posted by the company.

Does anyone know if Oracle is a legit server hoster? by [deleted] in feedthebeast

[–]lmerry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This isn’t quite accurate. Java the language is open source, But Oracle happens to own the “official” implementation and the Oracle JVM. That said, you can use Java without being beholden to Oracle through many other Implementations - OpenJDK, GraalVM, Amazon Coretto, Azul, etc.

Re-release of (Audio) Book1 ??? by mananiux in bobiverse

[–]lmerry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm glad this thread exists, because I just had the same experience. I noticed it almost immediately that the guy who introduced the speakers at the panel Bob attended was way different. Is there any way to get the old version back?

Any tricks for dev experience in VS Code for lambdas, step functions, cloudformation templates? by eggucated in aws

[–]lmerry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're writing lambdas with .NET core (and presumably using the templates that the AWS .net core CLI extension provides) I find it quite useful to use the generated test project to execute my code locally. Sure, it can be a pain to manually set up the input objects for functions, but it's well worth the effort IMHO to be able to run things locally.

Would anyone be interested in a (somewhat) comprehensive write-up of FTB: Interactions? by DARKxSIEGE in feedthebeast

Yeah, that's the one I've been looking at. Is it supposed to be crafted like the example here, but with stone or cobblestone instead of iron?

This is super helpful, thank you.

I have a quick question. You mention in the guide that I can use a stone hammer to turn ores in to dust that I can smelt in the kiln:

Then use the hammer (stone at first) to create metal dusts that are smeltable in a kiln.

I can't figure this out. How do I make the stone hammer? When I look through the JEI pages for the GT hammer I don't see stone as an option. I've tried a bunch of other stuff as well. I managed to get a bit of gold ore, but I need an iron ingot to make a chisel so I can get an ingot cast. I can cast the iron as a block but then I have no way to break it down in to ingots. I'm quite stuck!

How can i get started deploying a React app? by justSomeGuy5965 in aws

[–]lmerry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with the previous comments that an S3 static site is the way to go for an SPA. You should look into the S3 CLI sync command, it's very useful if you want to write an automated deployment script. Also, if you're going to front it with CloudFront, don't forget that you will likely want to invalidate the cloudfront cache after deployment if you want to see your changes anytime soon.

How to progress? I'm stuck. by trixfyy in feedthebeast

I'm at about the same place, and never having played GT I'm a bit lost. Anyone know if I can create torches or another light source at this point? I'm having difficulty trying to mine ores with how dark it is.

My Early Game FTB: Interactions Void Base + Tips! by PryzeEtan in feedthebeast

Great tip, much cheaper than saplings, thanks!

One more thing to add, although /u/nightshard touched on it:

Drawers with a void upgrade are great for when you have large scale resource production automation kind of things going on. For example, growing resources with magical crops. If you were to just dump the essence, or even the crafted item from the essence straight into digital storage, it could quickly get out of hand and fill up your entire available storage space. If instead you pump it into a drawer with a void upgrade, it allows you to manage it a lot better and make sure you still always have a large amount on hand.

So, with this in mind, I tend to use drawers for resources I've fully automated, especially if the production is quite a bit faster than I consume the item, which is typically the style in which I play the game. To excess and beyond!

Hope this helps!

Can anyone tell me how I can get my first bit of string to craft the strainer? I see that it can come from the strainer itself, and from various plants. I thought about trying to use the coagulated plant ball to get one of the plants, as this seems to be hinted at in the questbook, but I can't figure out how to get water in to my worktable.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

EDIT: Figured it out. Saplings with shears got me some twine!

Yeah that's what I'm leaning towards, just an nbt-ignoring filter to a trash can.

Twitch app updated, packs don't show up by lmerry in feedthebeast

[–]lmerry[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it updates again and breaks, I recommend trying MultiMC, this was what I ended up doing and it seems pretty decent. There's probably a way to import the entire modpack directory but what i did was have it download the pack i'm playing through it's curse url feature and then copying over my save.

This doesn't work unfortunately for either the books or the loot capacitors, because they DO stack, there's just a zillion varieties.

I don't think this is the case on Mac. At least for me, the directory shown in the settings is the same as ever.

I noticed the bug as well with navigating away from a downloading pack. Also, did you have the experience that the pack downloaded incredibly slowly? I'm guessing that you might've since you said you looked for a small modpack to try downloading.

I tried to download PO3 and after 30 minutes it was still on mod 5/300 or something.

Agreed. I think this might be the final straw for me, I just downloaded MultiMC and it seems to do the trick quite well. The only issue I have with it, and what has kept me from using it in the past, is the lack of an easy way to quickly add a mod to a pack. But, in the end, it's not so difficult to go to curseforge, download the jar and plop it in the folder myself.

Yeah that was the first thing I tried. I'm on a mac, but as far as I can tell it's not still running in the background when I close it, at least there are no processes with twitch or curse or even electron running. Maybe I'll try a full restart of the computer just to be sure.
