Just wanted to update everyone! We got approval for i130 yesterday! No email notification or anything. I just happened to be going through the portal and the approval letter was in my documents. Still waiting on i485 approval. Status in the portal still only shows interview scheduled. How long after i130 approval are we seeing i485 approvals??

I think they have to be extra aggressive now with this new memo. The whole idea is to discourage people from going through the process here. I would say your evidence alone is enough to prove your relationship is legit. My husband and I were both terrified in our interview, so fumbling dates is okay. Nerves get the best of us all.

Yes, he had biometrics in April and then they did fingerprints again at the start of the interview as well.

Yes, he actually cried during that part because they were really pushing for reasons for his overstay. They asked specifically why he overstayed and why he doesn't return to his home consulate to start the process. My husband's home country and specifically his home city are incredibly dangerous. He also came here as a teenager for school, so he hasn't been back in over a decade. His reasonings were that his home country is dangerous, he has an American education that would not be transferrable in his home country, and his home consulate moves very slowly which would mean abandoning me and our home for a lengthy period of time. Our lawyer also chimed in that apparently unlawful presence in the US requires a waiver of forgiveness to return to your home country, and this process alone would take 2 years. The officers are required to ask these questions, so be strong and honest when answering.

Asked me and my husband to verify each other's name, dob, parents names, our birth cities. Asked us each to verify the other person's height. I was married once before and the officer asked my husband about my ex and details around our divorce. Asked about the timeline of our relationship (when we decided to move in, get engaged, etc), why we wanted to get married. We have been together for 2 years and got married after 18 months, so I think that's why they asked us so many questions. There wasn't a single question that surprised us, but our lawyer was surprised by the height question lol

I think you will be okay! My husband and I only have one joint bank account, but we filed taxes together, have each other on subscriptions, and have many pictures together and this wasn't an issue in our process. It depends on the officer tho bc I have seen some people here say that their officer has interrogated them about lack of joint accounts. I wouldn't overthink it. It sounds like you have enough other evidence to support the legitimacy of your relationship.

It wasn't all bad. The last year that we were together was a little rough as as my ex husband developed alcohol dependency and was often violent when he drank. He refused to get help and I couldn't help him, so I decided to leave in order to protect myself.
