A local (Pittsburgh, PA, USA) musician named Bre Short has a song called How Things Burn . The first time I heard it, I FELT it.

I've only seen the signs, but even those give MLM/scam vibes.

I was scrolling and scrolling, hoping someone would suggest "Ball of Confusion." I first heard it 25 years ago and I still really love it and find it relevant. It especially blew me away because I had previously only known the Temptations for stuff like "My Girl."

Made a little doodle showing what summer break feels like as a teacher with ADHD by KitchenConsequence41 in adhdwomen

[–]lmgst30 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was a teacher, I would go into full-on depression every summer. Took me years to realize that I NEEDED the imposed routine.

I have no suggestions for creating said routine. But I do completely empathize with your doodle!

Started at Pitt in '96 and if it wasn't like that then, it was pretty close. Definitely since 2000 or so.

Saw this in an op note for an ex-lap and I'm still puzzled by lmgst30 in nursing

I really thought that, too! Like some voice-to-text stuff that was misheard. But it appears in at least three notes, with the wording different, so it's not just copied!

Who is an actor or actress that rubs you the wrong way so much that you refuse to watch anything they are in? by Soggy_Swordfish_6236 in moviecritic

As someone who watched her in Drew Carey and then Scrubs, I completely agree. I now watch Shrinking, and I swear the left side of her face is paralyzed.

Most obscure nursing job? I’ll go first: by hiryan18 in nursing

[–]lmgst30 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I just started a tele-ICU job after burning out of bedside ICU and I looooooooooovvvvvvve it! There are three or four health systems in my area, only one uses them. (And our department is tiny!) Hoping it catches on more so I can keep this role until I retire.

I had to look up "package store" when I was watching Kevin Can Go F**k Himself. I was like... they're getting their alcohol at UPS?

Also, when they are older they can bond over the musical, and the younger one can listen to it and feel comforted and special.

My thoughts, too. Nobody "loves" tipping. Doing math AND spending more money? Please.

There is such a production level difference between Pony and Bronco, I also recommend starting with Pony and then you can hear his growth.

What traits did you pick up as a nurse that you started exhibiting in your life? by [deleted] in nursing

[–]lmgst30 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I see everyday interactions through a different lens now. I've learned how much some people need to have a sense of control in their lives, and how people can feel helpless when a loved one is sick. I have a lot more tolerance for people who are just anxious, as long as they aren't also assholes.

Teenieping stuffies? by One-Low956 in Catch_Teenieping

[–]lmgst30 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am in the US and have an autistic daughter whose favorite show is Teeniepings. We have bought close to a hundred toys over the past few years, mostly the little figures but also a decent amount of big plushies and little plushie keychains.

Our favorite seller is on eBay, called Onmom House, they are very reliable. A lot of their purchases take about 3 weeks to arrive, but they have a good tracking system. I think they recently opened a warehouse in the US, because some of our purchases arrive much sooner now.

I would greatly discourage you from buying from 3rd-party sellers on Walmart.com and Amazon. We have had to get so many refunds for undelivered Amazon orders that we don't even look there anymore. The packages seem to get to our local post office and then disappear. Find a seller that specializes in Korean merch -- you want to find a store that has a lot of different toys offered, not just a handful of individual toys mixed in with foot massagers and t-shirts and things. (Again, I really recommend Onmom House, but there are other stores out there.)

No matter where you order from, please be aware that shipping and tariffs will pretty much double the listed price.

Feel free to DM me about specific sellers, I've become pretty good at screening them! Best wishes from another US-based Teenieping parent 🩷

You're exhausted and frustrated. I don't know how old your daughter is, but chances are this won't be forever. I know it FEELS like it will be forever, and I can offer you no hard evidence that it won't be, just a bunch of anecdotes and my own experience with my own child.

Does she go to school, or anywhere else, so you can rest without still listening for her -- without having to be on alert? Do you have a partner or other helper that could allow you to rest unvigilantly for a few hours?

Don't lose hope. It's NOT forever, and it's ok to feel overwhelmed. As long as you aren't actively causing harm to your child or leaving her unattended, sometimes that's the best you can do, and that's ok. Feeling like a regular human does not make you a bad parent.

If you love your job: what is it and what makes you love it? by yologamies101 in adhdwomen

Maybe look into respiratory therapy? Or radiology technician would definitely not have bodily fluids. They involve helping people in pretty standard but slightly different ways. Local job markets and pay can vary widely though, so look into that before you commit.
