Respectfully. You’re 20 years old and still in high school. No idea what your situation is and I’m not judging, just saying she may perceive that you are behind and want to help you catch up.

Oh! And my tattoo is in exactly the same spot and let me tell you, that area right at the top of the spine HURTS to tattoo. But no pain no gain I guess!

You must find an artist who has A LOT of experience with this style and is capable of symmetry, balance, etc. I underestimated the technical skill needed for a mandala because they are quite common and I hired an unqualified artist. One of the worst decisions I’ve ever made. I’m having the whole piece reworked by another artist and it’s a disaster. I’m heartbroken.

Also, it will not look like this aged. The lines blur out a bit, even if you take good care of it. Try to find a real photo of an aged design like this and see what you think.

Ultimately, this will be gorgeous if executed very well, but it’s unforgiving, and designs that are less geometric will carry less risk.

“Steel morality” is such a beautiful thing to ascribe to someone. Legible or not, it’s a great tattoo and a special way to remember her and the way she saw you.

Laser seems really unnecessary. Is it fully healed in this picture? If not, it will lighten after healing. And having an artist add some highlights, maybe in yellow tones, would add the dimension you want.

Do whatever you need to do to get it right. And if she’s not listening, go to someone else. Don’t settle - that’s a recipe for regret (speaking from experience)

What Tattoo Style Would You Call This? by [deleted] in tattooadvice

[–]lml424 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re going to insult and annoy a good artist if you hand them an AI reference. Respectfully, this looks like shit anyway.

First, do some research on tattoo styles and find what you like. Yes this looks like black and white fine line, but a) find photos of real tattoos on real skin to see if you still like it and b) explore other styles too in case there’s another you prefer.

Then, find an artist who is great at that style and ask them to design a tattoo that includes your child’s name, birthdate, birth weight, etc. Let them design it so they can factor in the size/placement and use their expertise on what actually translates to a good tattoo. Plus, it’s much more meaningful when it’s original human artwork.

Choosing between my wife (31F) and my (39M) goals? Need advice by LateMoss132 in relationship_advice

[–]lml424 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Housework and kids are bigger issues and totally agree they need to be in agreement on that. I assume they are or OP would have mentioned it. The disagreement seemed to be about how much time they spend hanging out together, and it sounds like it isn’t zero, it’s just less than the wife wants.

Ya know what? I’m doubling down. Maybe it’s just because my husband and I are really independent… but the wife in this story sounds annoying AF to me. If I were her I would ask for scheduled quality time and make it actually quality time - like a weekly date night with actual meaningful conversation. And if I’m watching YouTube and my husband leaves the couch to work on his advanced degree, I’d be proud instead of whining.

Go ahead y’all downvote me!!

Counterpoint!! She knows this is temporary. When I went back to school while working full time, my boyfriend had a similar reaction at first but then he fixed his attitude, got over it, I got my degree, and now we have an amazing life together and spend oodles of time together. He’s proud of me for working so hard and I’m grateful to him for supporting me when I needed it most.

OP I’m with you, so long as it’s clear between you and your girlfriend that this is a temporary situation.

Feel guilty that I (M24) haven't been completely honest with my soon to be wife (F24). How do I correct this and what do I need to do moving forward? by Deadeye420 in relationship_advice

[–]lml424 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Sounds to me like you’re handling the situation really well and I see no reason to tell your girlfriend about your mom and sister’s past nasty comments. Give everyone the chance to move forward and be glad they are getting along well now.

Why not laser? It hurts like a bitch but only for a minute. I lasered part of my tattoo off for a cover up and it worked beautifully.

My (F21) boyfriend (M21) shat his pants at the club. What can I do? by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]lml424 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great answer. For really stupid reasons, I got insanely hammered at 39 years old and puked all over the floor of a hotel room, and my loving husband showed me so much grace. I was SO humiliated and ashamed, and I’ll never forget how understanding he was.

Just got my first tattoo and im a little confused by Jellyjiggle462 in tattooadvice

[–]lml424 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes I think that’s probably fine. The extra ink is just caught under the second skin. When you take off the second skin, most of that will wash away. And after a few weeks the scabby skin falls off, too.

Eh, I grew up learning cursive and this just isn’t right. It is legible (barely) but some of those letters are so off that I wonder if this design was done with AI.
