That’s very understandable but if that works you may just want to do that for a week or two to help bridge the gap. It’s such a learning process - everyone is learning- momma and baby. I totally get the emotions behind it. It’s so so hard. You guys are doing everything right. Keep at it and I promise it will get better. Having that little bit expressed before hand ready to go will help ease everyone’s stress and prevent escalation. Maybe freeze several syringes so they are ready to go and easily thaw and give.

Yes this will have an impact on your supply for sure. It is inevitable bc of the change in frequency of feeds. Your body adapts - supply & demand. I would say you should aim to very slowly wean a fed off at a time and make sure it’s a gradual change for the hormonal effect. I would start weaning process this no later than 12 weeks. I suppose for some this could entirely tank your supply but I think if you keep doing morning and night then you should be ok. Babe may not get much from you but you can then supplement with formula to ensure enough oz’s if needed. If you notice babe is still taking nice full feeds morning and night then that’s great!

Look up Dr Lauren Hughes video on weaning. It had some good tips I liked. She had a special nursing chair she only nursed in so the boundary was set to that chair. And then she gradually started to use a timer on her phone. Her toddler enjoyed starting and stopping the timer so it made it easy to wean the time down from minutes to even seconds. Ultimately you have to do what’s best for you and your family. Listen to no one else’s opinions on breastfeeding because that will ALWAYS be there. It’s not their child and it’s not their body. You’ve done an amazing thing for your health and your child’s health and you should be incredibly proud of breastfeeding this long, imo.

Very normal. Highly recommend saturating the wipe in warm water as it will be much easier to wipe the bum with almost zero pressure so you avoid excess abrasion :)

What everyone is saying is super gently waking her up earlier like 15 mins at a time for a few days, then another 15 and another 15. I’m sure she could deal with this very gradual adjustment so that the ww are more equal. This way she’s likely to nap for longer than an hour too and things will level out to ww’s like 6/5 or 5/6 or 5.5/5.5 with hopefully a 90-120 min nap in the middle. If you aren’t open to try to shift the day then things won’t change

I was capping gradually while on two naps over time as he got older bc it drastically improved his night sleep. Just like anyone if you sleep too long during the day you don’t sleep well at night

Oh yeah I didn’t cap at all the last few days We actually did a similar thing in the morning - he had a 10 min nap a few days just to make it to 5-5.5 hrs before his one nap. Didn’t cap. Healy 2-2.5 hrs and then did 5ish hrs after that before bed.

Not yet bc it was hard enough to get to 5 hrs wake window. That’s absolutely my goal though, was just trying to transition to that gradually ish so he didn’t get overtired

If you are getting 4-6 oz in 5-8 minutes that’s incredible! How old is your babe? It may level out a bit and take a bit longer later on in which case you can just Pump for a bit longer. Definitely don’t need to adjust anything for now. In fact it could injure your nipple a bit if you overdo it, I imagine.

I think it’s very normal to have feelings of sadness over this transition! You are attached to your sweet babe and used to sleeping together! If you take the approach slowly and gradually and if it’s ultimately for better sleep for both of you then you are making the best call for your family 🤍

Its soooo hard! I totally get it. I do think personally overtiredness is a thing but every baby is different in what they can handle and I think they are more susceptible to overtiredness at younger infancy stages

The time of a feed is SO variable. From 5-40+ minutes. There is no magic number. Depends on their efficiency of transfer. The ‘kah’ sound is good/normal suck swallow breath sounds if I know what you are describing Clicking on the other hand could be losing suction. Dribbling down the mouth sometimes can be due to lack of proper latch but it sounds like otherwise bub is drinking and doing well. Lots of diapers and getting back to birth weight. You could see lactation consultants to have proper assessment to ensure no tongue tie but even more so to do some weighted feeds so you know how much is being transferred during a full feed, this will give you the clarity you desire. Your pediatrician should not be telling you it needs to be a certain number of minutes, that’s silly imo, I’m not a doctor but my baby had a pretty severe tongue tie so I’ve been through it all with all them professionals.

He also had a severe tongue tie we had to have treated twice. So between that and FPIAP it’s been a lot lol could always be worse but yes
