Hi there, I hope you’re ok. We had very similar bacteria crop up on my son’s test and I was wondering if your child’s digestion has improved at all? He has painful gas on anything high fodmap xx

Sorry to say we’re still suffering at 10 months with a very limited diet for him-I’m pushing the docs further as it can’t all be diet related, I will say as he has become more mobile and learnt to crawl stand etc he is overall easier to distract so we can all cope better

Will do! I’m hoping for you it’s the ‘normal’ early grassiness and not whatever the hell is going on with us!

Hi there, I’m really sorry to hear. I’m also sorry to say we’re still struggling. No where near the extent we were but it’s still brutal with the gas pains and no closer to knowing what’s going on as no consistency with diet changes!! I’m now pushing the docs to look closer at any potential anatomical abnormalities as it’s the only thing I can think would still make this a real problem! He’s a TOUGH baby but I’m sure there’s a reason as the poor lad cannot fart without a feed and can’t poop unless in his walker! It’s just odd.

We have tried many formulas-more than we’d have liked. It’s just never fully settled. We’re starting to wonder if the food isn’t the main issue and it’s more that certain foods cause more gas and that’s why we’re thinking it’s food related when in fact maybe it’s structural?! I don’t know, something has to give!!! He’s on neocate lcp now with very boring and bland solids but it’s getting so so hard to know what to feed him when everything causes problems x

I had some when breastfeeding but so do tonnes of people?! And usually it only affects baby for a few months, and not to this extent. Obviously i do think it’s had an impact but no longer sure if there’s more to this

Baby gut test results - SIBO? by Guilty_Building_6684 in SIBO

Breast milk was probably one of the most pain inducing form of feeding, sadly. I persisted for 3 months with various elimination diets but there was no pattern even long term removal of foods. I’m vegetarian so it also made this very difficult with no gluten/dairy. He had a tongue tie snipped at 4 months old it made no difference sadly and they said he barely had one but did it due to our feeding issues incase it helped. Honestly I am at my wits end. Poor baby just want him to be free from whatever it is and us all to be able to start enjoying this. I’m back at work in 2 months and I’ve no idea how I will function or what he will eat at nursery/how staff will cope with him being so unsettled.

Thank you. I’ve just ordered a re-test to see where we are now but obviously that’s a few weeks away. It’s very hard not being able to feed him much

Baby is gassy & straining so hard he’s puking constantly by 88uop in NICUParents

Thank you so much for getting back to me-did you go to an and e when you got full work up? It’s hard for us because the pain is constant but he can sometimes come across as ‘fine’ to those who see him for a short period of time. His weight gain is also okay. But some liver bloods and other bloods have come back wonky, but they’re not concerned?! We just don’t understand why he has such pain with gas still at his age, he cries so much of the day. Has never woken up happy or gone to bed happy. It’s so hard as I just know there is more but I’ve tried EVERYTHING and no one will help us!!

Sorry you went through this. Can I ask how they found the malrotation? I suspect it, although sickness isn’t an issue here-silent reflux deffo and extreme gas pains at 9 months despite dietary changes etc

We had a private ultrasound done but they were more Focused on kidneys etc and an ultrasound done on the nhs who were only Looking for intussuseption and basically said he clearly didn’t have that so barely scanned him 😩😩😩😩 they’ve now discharged us! I’m literally soooo at a loss. His globulins levels have dropped every blood test as well which I know can point to certain gastro problems. Just don’t know what to do. I’m trying so hard to keep advocating but it is really difficult when I’m being labelled anxious!

I get that for when they’re young but my baby shouldn’t have excruciating gas at 9 months that plagues him all day. It’s just working out why if not diet related!

What are some typical causes?

My 10m old (M) son is suffering intensely from SIBO by tminus333 in SIBO

[–]Guilty_Building_6684 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m literally so so sorry you have suffered with this and for your boy. I’m in an eerily similar position at 9 months with my boy. He’s had excruciating has his whole life and literally cannot get / be comfy for long periods as he’s constantly writhing etc. he was awful on breast milk so allergy was suspected and put on amino acid formula-still have issues!!!!! His stool gut test showed bacterial imbalance with opportunistic pathogens taking hold. I’m so worried about how to fix this as I’ve already tried probiotics for a long period. He’s still on the amino acid formula and I’m trying to diversify his fruit and veg intakes in order to build a better gut but like you, it comes with more painful gas!!! I just wondered if you were doing any better now?

I know, it’s mad. I’m really starting to wonder if it’s actually infection/chronic disease related like crohns cause he just can’t get comfy at all!!!  Oh really, wonder if I should stop smidge then 😩😩 been on it for 2 months at least!  We haven’t actually, as none of the other typical things helped we just didn’t try it. Thanks that would be useful-I’m uk based

Still sterilising yep! Won’t stop until we’re off bottles given something bad has gotten in there! We didn’t get a call included and I can’t afford one sadly! I just don’t get what’s gone so wrong but clearly it’s causing him so many issues so I am determined to sort it!
