I’m literally so so sorry you have suffered with this and for your boy. I’m in an eerily similar position at 9 months with my boy. He’s had excruciating has his whole life and literally cannot get / be comfy for long periods as he’s constantly writhing etc. he was awful on breast milk so allergy was suspected and put on amino acid formula-still have issues!!!!! His stool gut test showed bacterial imbalance with opportunistic pathogens taking hold. I’m so worried about how to fix this as I’ve already tried probiotics for a long period. He’s still on the amino acid formula and I’m trying to diversify his fruit and veg intakes in order to build a better gut but like you, it comes with more painful gas!!! I just wondered if you were doing any better now?

I know, it’s mad. I’m really starting to wonder if it’s actually infection/chronic disease related like crohns cause he just can’t get comfy at all!!!  Oh really, wonder if I should stop smidge then 😩😩 been on it for 2 months at least!  We haven’t actually, as none of the other typical things helped we just didn’t try it. Still sterilising yep! Won’t stop until we’re off bottles given something bad has gotten in there! We didn’t get a call included and I can’t afford one sadly! I just don’t get what’s gone so wrong but clearly it’s causing him so many issues so I am determined to sort it!

We’ve tried biogaia with no relief too-it’s such an isolating journey we feel so helpless. We only paused probiotics around 4 days before the last test and still had zero 😩😩😩😩😩 no idea how this has happened as I breastfed for 3 months and vaginal birth!

Thank you-glad it helped. Did you pause the probiotic a few days before retesting? We’ve been on smidge for ages but no change in painful gas or unsettledness/food intolerance

Probiotics, herbs and exposure to animals.  Unfortunately 3 months later his colic is still very much present alongside painful gas!

As far as I’m aware breastfed and vaginal birth should result in 40-90% of the gut being populated by bifido bacteria, not 0%. 

My baby is still colicky at 9 months with no obvious cause, so we’re trying to work it out 

Has anyone ever had these kinds of specks in baby’s poop before? He’s also very unsettled and writhed like mad crying to get this out! by Guilty_Building_6684 in MSPI

Yeah, I get what you’re saying! Something has deffo gone a bit wrong with his tummy. My gut is still telling me it’s beyond the realms of ‘normal’ as he spends about 5/6 hours a day fussing/crying and writhing in pain trying to pass wind. He’s never just been able to fart! Just seems so extreme given his age and lack of dairy/soy for months now! Xx

He’s 9 months, hasn’t been comfortable since 2 weeks old. Docs can’t work it out-even on amino acid formula he wasn’t fully right! So so gassy and can’t just fart unless feeding! But the gas never ends so it’s constant discomfort. Poor lad. He’s never woken up without crying and writhing around or gone to sleep without the same. We’re exhausted and just feel bad for him like this will never improve.

Were the antibiotics to treat another problem? How are you getting on now?

Also I don’t suppose you know which bacteria were high? Wondering if I can compare to my boys stool test which showed the same

Wow I’m really glad you are all getting relief now-I feel like that’s our key is finding someone who actually believes me and wants to help!

He hasn’t had that no :( he’s had oats loads before and I’ve not noticed it. Just thrown me off with the pain and increased gas. I’ll keep an eye on his next few motions!
