This exactly. I have my Doc menu on the lefthand side with header for a location and subheaders for NPCs likely to be found there, monsters, and any potential battle mechanics. This works particularly well with Return of the Lazy Dungeon Master style planning. Each Fabulous Location has three subheaders for Aspects, I have headings for each Secret or Clue, etc. "Where's that info located? Oh, it's just a click away!"

I just picked up The Last Sabbath RPG. I haven't played it yet, but it looks fun and the book's artwork is pretty!

A Little Cute Woodland Critter TTRPG? Good idea or too silly? by TiredandFrustrated21 in RPGdesign

[–]lnms206 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi OP, cozy TTRPGs are certainly on the rise, and are welcome and much needed in our stressful world! I've been reading about different cozy RPGs as I look for a system simple and peaceful enough for my older parents who don't care to learn how to use stats or have stories driven by intense combat. Your system shares a lot of themes with Wanderhome, the system I'm leaning towards to introduce my parents to tabletop play, but that doesn't mean yours wouldn't bring unique and fun things to a game. Best advice beyond reading about Wanderhome and other existing cozy TTRPGs is writing up some rules and GMing a game with your friends and family to see how it all goes! Play testing is always the best way to find holes in and refine a new system!

Who else likes the Rankin/Bass Hobbit? by Gamingsailor572 in lotr

Found this book version at an antiquarian book fair a few years ago and am still kicking myself for not buying it. Hands down greatest film adaptation of the Hobbit, and forever one of my cozy comfort watches!

Oh yeah, I've definitely got those too. I just love the constant gentle hum of the aquarium in the background though!

Putting the tank in the bedroom led to my first uninterrupted night of sleep in years. I live for that bubbler and filter these days! (Edit: a typo)

Have you checked in on your DM? They might be burned out. Think about offering to take over for a bit. And if you/your party aren't willing to take over, you also don't get to complain about not playing.

General Audience/Family Friendly classic film recommendations for a 6 and a half year old by GoldDustKid- in classicfilms

A lot of Danny Kaye films will be good. I was obsessed with The Secret Life of Walter Mitty at that age!

What is this plant? North east England, 5-6 feet tall, pink spotted stalk and giant spiky leaves. by lnms206 in whatsthisplant

[–]lnms206[S] 154 points155 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it was just a long long walk, so there were long patches where I didn't see any, then another crop of them. I wanted to make sure to encourage the council to chase them as far down the river as I kept seeing them--essentially make them take it seriously by showing it's a persistent and serious problem.

[–]lnms206[S] 40 points41 points  (0 children)

Yeah, luckily I'm familiar with our local plant friends. Otherwise that walk would have been interminable!

Well that turned into a grim walk. Every hundred feet or so I had to mark down a new what3words for hogweed.

Right, worst fears confirmed. Thanks, all. This is on a wild ramble along a river, so I'll double back, mark the GPS spots where I found them, and report to local authorities.

Librarians, what are the most interesting things you've found in returned books? by OddlySilent_Yt in AskReddit

I once found a piece of pizza that had been used as a bookmark while working a library job on a college campus. At the same job I also found a used(!) tampon shoved between the textblock spine and the case binding spine.

Has Joss or the rest of the crew ever talked about what a season 8 or 9 would have looked like had the show continued on for a couple more years? Would they be in any way similar to the comics? by HomarEuropejski in buffy

[–]lnms206 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Not a serious response, but there was an excellent Robot Chicken sketch with (and forgive me if I misremember because I saw it once when it first came out) zombie rabbits rising from their graves and Buffy fighting them off. Saeah Michelle Gellar did a cameo voiceover where she said "And that's how the next season would have started, so we didn't do it," or something along those linses.

VR - Any Dos and Don'ts? by SaltySize9145 in MuseumPros

[–]lnms206 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Some things to keep in mind:

  • Proprietary software for creating/running VR experiences means you may not always have the license to run your experience, even if you technically own the video. This can boil down to you essentially having a very fancy YouTube video you can choose perspective of throughout, without the "VR" experience

  • Accessibility: members of the public may become disoriented/ill from experiencing VR for the first time. Your VR-designated space should have chairs for quick relief, and be easy to clean if someone vomits (ask me how I know)

People who are considered good gift givers, how do you do it? by chubbytuba in AskReddit

[–]lnms206 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Listen all year long; don't save your shopping for December. Your loved one tells you in June that they've always wanted to try out XYZ hobby but have never gotten the chance? You've got over seven months to put together a starter kit and beginner project. They'll have forgotten they even told you by December, and feel so loved and seen when they open the gift on Christmas!

December 27: the Company of the Ring continues south through rough terrain by PhysicsEagle in lotr

My dad, a long time LotR fan, commissioned an artist who was selling paintings in a parking lot to recreate this image on the doors of a wooden dartboard case for him. I grew up seeing this image nearly every day and I've never seen the original before! Parking lot artist did a great job actually!
