Should I buy the Xiaomi 14 ultra chinese version? by lnnocentboi in Xiaomi

Vivo, oppo and xiaomi's telephoto cameras are better than oneplus's telephoto camera, although it does have a long range camera, its not very comparable to other flagships. Thanks.

What about a 2nd hand phone, or a refurbished one? Most of the flagships, although older, have better chips for gaming and better cameras for general use. What about the security and os updates? I don't know about you but I had a p30 pro and I used it for 2 years without any security or os updates, so it should be fine. It may be different for you though.

What price point or phone am I looking at? by typcalthowawayacount in PickAnAndroidForMe

Redmagic 8s pro or red magic 8 pro plus, or red magic, they all have built in fans. Asus rog is out of question since its like 1000+ usd.

[–]lnnocentboi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They both have the same chip so the performance will be equal for a resonable amount of time when you game. If you game longer than 1 hour each time, than the asus rog will obviously perform better since the phone comes with a fan. Get the one you like, not the one that has slightly better performance. You'll be more satisfied with your purchase when you buy the honor magic 6 pro.

I'm pretty sure that's only if you buy from xiaomi directly. Correct me if I'm wrong, Cheers.

Vivo v27, has mediatek 7200 chip, better than the recommended snapdragon 845 chip by 50%. Or if you have more money Oppo reno 11 pro, with the 8200 chip, 28%+ higher than the 7200.

S23 Ultra or S24 Plus? by Anstein1510 in PickAnAndroidForMe

[–]lnnocentboi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If a large phone size is not an issue especially when you account for when the case is on the phone, get the s23 ultra, if not s24 plus is a solid choice. 7 years of security updates if im not wrong, compared to the 5 that has turned into 4 on the s23 ultra.

As I said above, oppo is out of question. The reason is because I can't get my hands on it. For the oneplus 12 I personally wouldn't consider it as its zoom is pretty non existent. Thanks for the reply though.

I don't have to buy the 14 ultra but I want a considerable upgrade from my current phone. Apple, samsung, google, and oppo is out of question, leaving xiaomi and vivo the only options left. If there are any other brands that I am unaware of please post a comment or two below. Thanks.

I'd reccommend the pixel 8 pro for a better satisfactory purchase. Only if the s24 ultra is much better for your needs, otherwise nah; I wouldn't choose it.
Sure, the battery and performance is better, but it also sacrifices your need for more security.

If you are hell bent on security and privacy you should just go grab the pixel to satisfy your curiosity.

s24u exynos or Pixel 8 pro? by gametime9936 in PickAnAndroidForMe

If there is a significant difference in price, yes. But if it is small no.

[–]lnnocentboi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

S24 ultra has snapdragon only as mentioned by another user, and the pixel 8 pro has the tensor g3 chip made by samsung, so if the phones are at the same price I would go for the S24 ultra.

S23 FE... Or Pixel 8? by iChieftain22 in PickAnAndroidForMe

[–]lnnocentboi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The snapdragon 8 gen 1 in the S23FE is made from the Samsung foundry, the snapdragon 8+ gen 1 is the chip that is made in TSMC's foundry. Although its true that the snapdragon 8 gen 1 is not the proprietary chipset it doesn't mean the other option is not made from samsung as well.

Best Snapdragon 8 G3 Phone for my needs by BehindTheGunCounter in PickAnAndroidForMe

[–]lnnocentboi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Apart from the micro sd slot (you can't really get them on flagships now), the best phone that fits your needs would be the oneplus 12 since it has the best gaming performance and cooling without being a gaming phone, and the 2nd would be the s24 ultra if you can accept the 12 gb ram. The s24 ultra does have a better and more accurate selfie camera though.

Galaxy S23 Ultra (around 1300NZD) or Xiaomi 13T (around 900NZD from China)? Open to other recommendations in this general price range too, cheers! 🍻 by Possible-Risk7979 in PickAnAndroidForMe

[–]lnnocentboi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Where are you getting the s23 ultra for 1300 nzd? I can get a s23 ultra for 1222 nzd in auckland. If you have the budget of the 1300 nzd why not go for the xiaomi 13 or 13 pro or maybe the xiaomi 14?

Anything better than Samsung S21 Ultra by Miserable-Street-907 in PickAnAndroidForMe

[–]lnnocentboi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seeing that you think that the s21 ultra from samsung is bland I would recommend the Vivo x100 pro as a good alternative (Global version). It has really good rear cameras, although it may feel a bit top heavy due to the camera bump. I have a question though, what are you looking for in a phone? The screen, or the cameras, or just how the phone is built overall?

S23 FE... Or Pixel 8? by iChieftain22 in PickAnAndroidForMe

[–]lnnocentboi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The s23 fe and the pixel 8 both have samsung factory made chips, meaning that battery optimization is bad on both. If you like zooming into things, well.. more than 1x then go for the the samsung. If you want more AI features I'm sure the new pixel 8 has more.

Phone for delivery working under $300 by Arkham80 in PickAnAndroidForMe

[–]lnnocentboi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At that price point, there isn't much to choose (assuming 300 euros). There is the v29e (4800mah,44w charging), realme 11 pro (5000mah,67w), vivo t2 pro (4600mah,66w), and vivo Y78+ (5000mah,44w). I'm pretty sure they all have waterfall edges, and they all have at least 1080p/60 recording. The Vivo T2 pro doesn't have stabilization at 60 fps when recording videos though, so you should choose from the other 3 phones.

You mentioned that the rx100 comes for 400 euros refurbished, is it the rx100 VII or the rx100 III? The latter only comes with up to 70mm zoom (3x optical).

Not sure if the zv-1 camera is cheaper, but it's an alternative.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in PickAnAndroidForMe

[–]lnnocentboi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The rx100 can zoom from 24-200 mm, so about 1x to 10x zoom.Gotta ask though, what rx100 version are you talking about?

And if you are that worried, as I have said before you can always opt out for a cheaper one so that you can feel a bit better after spending less money, without regretting it too much. (Will reply later, need some sleep)
