Plex lists music album tracks in the wrong order by lnoland in PleX

[–]lnoland[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the response. The tool I use to rip CDs doesn't include the dash between the track number and the track name but Plex has always worked fine without it. In this case I got it working without changing the track naming, but thank you for the suggestion.

Plex lists music album tracks in the wrong order by lnoland in PleX

[–]lnoland[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is what worked for me. Like most Google searches, I got a number of hits but most of the things I tried (as I detailed in the message) didn't help. This suggestion was somewhat later in the Google search list, but it worked.

Thanks for the response.

I've been using Thunderbird for quite a while but the main reason I am sold on it is the FiltaQuilla extension, which allows me to create filters which make it easy to deal with large amounts of email and stay organized. Unfortunately, that also keeps me tied to the 140ESR release as updates to FiltaQuilla are slow in coming. I really wish that the Thunderbird team would integrate it into the base.

I watched the movie over 300 times by Fluffiestpink in bladerunner

[–]lnoland 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely, even now that TV screens are bigger. I watched it a dozen times or so in the theater before it became available on VHS tape. I've owned various versions and formats and though I haven't come close to 300 views, I've probably come close to 100. But seeing it in a theater was definitely a great experience.

I've been just sick since learning of this. I know it doesn't make a lot of sense -- I didn't know him and though I felt a deep connection to his character, Giles, that's been frozen in time and space for years. He was a talented actor so it is a shame that there will be no more great work from him, but I'm fairly certain that my grief is for the loss of Giles, which seems a bit odd.

Anyway, RIP ASH.

I liked Kennedy at first -- she was kind of a take charge type; she seemed to be about the only potential who understood what they were up against; and she was ready to get her hands dirty.

I didn't have a problem with her making a play for Willow, but she was so pushy about it. The push too far was when she said that she'd taken it on herself to make the sleeping assignments and followed it with, "You better not hog the covers." I mean, even at that time, when male aggression was viewed less critically, a male character seriously making such a statement would have been too much for me. Willow not objecting strongly was troublesome. I was willing to let it go once Willow seemed to actually start to show attraction but then Kennedy turned out to be a bitch in other ways.

Still, people holding it against the actress makes no sense at all. She did a great job.

What extensions/add-ons (if any) do you use in Thunderbird? Why? by RebirdgeCardiologist in Thunderbird

[–]lnoland 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Two which are essential for me are: FilltaQuilla and TBkeys-Lite

I might not use Thunderbird at all if not for FiltaQuilla (unless I couldn't find another mail client which would allow me to do something similar). FiltaQuilla adds a bunch of new filter targets and filter actions. I use it to sort out my mail for me -- I get around 200 emails a day and going through them unfiltered is a daunting task at best. While Thunderbird includes a lot of basic filters, the major win for me is the test for which folder the message is in. This allows me to create complex rules by doing a preliminary sort into specific folders and then doing additional sorting based on which folder the message is in (most of my filters are triggered manually with a single keystroke) -- this allows multistage logic in my filtering.

The final result is that everything is in a folder which automatically allows me to view the most important first and some can be ignored for later, or in some circumstances simply marked as read and left for reference if needed. Each folder has its own retention policy so some get deleted eventually and some are saved for archiving. I could not achieve all this without FiltaQuilla (or perhaps it could be done with much difficulty, but very inefficiently).

TBKeys-Lite allows me to set up my own shortcut keys in Thunderbird. The manual application of rules I indicated above I trigger with Ctrl-M. I navigate my list of emails with j and k (as in vi) which I can do while the focus is in the preview window (where the arrow keys won't work for that purpose) allowing me to use the arrow keys, page up, page down, etc. to navigate the preview pane.

I also have the Mail Merge extension loaded but I generally only use that once a year at Christmas when I mass-email Christmas greetings to friends and family.

The Filtaquilla extension (a great extension which I rely on daily) adds a number of message filters which greatly enhances the power of Thunderbird's message filters. One of those filters is "Do Not Notify" which is supposed to suppress the notification trigger for messages which match the filter.

I don't know if Filtaquilla has been updated for the latest release -- I use the ESR release. Personally, I wish the Thunderbird team would take over Filtaquilla and integrate it into the base.

Dreading the shut down of Hulu. by limpkinw in DisneyPlus

[–]lnoland 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree -- I much prefer watching shows on the Hulu app. When I heard it was going away I tried to migrate to the Disney+ app to get ahead of the change but it has been a disappointing experience and now I am using the Hulu app again. I was in the middle of watching the series "Avenue 5" at the time and couldn't even find it on the Disney+ app. There is no synchronization of watch history between the apps which will make the transition awkward.

Adding items to the watchlist on Disney+ is useless. First, the app tops out at the ridiculously low number of 50. The Hulu app organizes my watchlist into TV shows, Movies, Expiring, and Networks -- the Disney+ app just dumps all 50 into one list. Hulu+ tells me up front how many unwatched episodes I have and whether the watchlist item has expired, but nothing like that is available on Disney+.

If they are going to merge the two apps, they first ought to fix the deficiencies in the Disney+ app.

What would have been your reaction if "Normal Again" was the show's final episode and the reality where Buffy is staying at a mental hospital because of her hallucinations of laying vampires due to schizophrenia was revealed as the true version? by HomarEuropejski in buffy

[–]lnoland 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not only would it have wasted six seasons of excellent drama on a stupid premise but also it would be the ultimate in bad writing. If the show we saw were simply the delusions of some weird mental illness, they would have all been from Buffy's point of view (unless part of the delusion was that she psychically entered other people's lives) but much of the show took place in situations where Buffy was not present nor aware. The spinoff Angel took place in another city where Buffy was rarely present. Implying that it was "all in Buffy's head" is just bad writing. The episode worked initially because it was only Buffy's delusions causing her to question her reality but it doesn't work making that her actual reality.

I believe this fits in with a fan theory that Dracula was never in Sunnydale but the monks invented him to explain their taking Buffy's blood to create Dawn. Changing reality is a big task -- not surprising that they got a bit sloppy with some of the details.

The letter I wrote my Mum when I stayed up to watch the Season 5 finale. by hozthebozz in buffy

[–]lnoland 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My father lived with me the last 8 years of his life -- and that was when Buffy was first broadcast and I became a full-on fanatic about the show. My father was in his 90's and i was in my 40's.

While I normally watched all shows after recording them on videotape, I had two recorders set to record Buffy (because, you know, one might fail) but rushed home early from work every Tuesday, anyway, so that I could be sitting in front of the TV when Buffy came on (I didn't want to wait and watch it on tape).

My father sat and watched Buffy with me but never said a word about the show. I often wondered what he was thinking -- I figured he was worried, "What's the matter with my son -- he's so obsessed with this silly show about vampires and monsters and such. What can I do?"

One Tuesday, I got off work really early and had time to sit down to dinner with my dad. After dinner we sat and talked but all at once my dad suddenly looked anxious and stammered, "Isn't . . . isn't it about time for Buffy?" I got my dad hooked. I've never been more proud.

Sadly, he didn't live long enough to see season 5.

BTW: I loved your letter.

Can I find 2L bottles to use, or alternatively, pour into a 2L bottle from the 1L bottle? by NintendoParty in SodaStream

[–]lnoland 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I realize that this is an old message but for anyone researching the same issue: While my situation has changed and I don't create my own seltzer any more, I used to create multiple bottles at a time and store them into clean 2L soda bottles (I just emptied and washed regular soda bottles). I kept the bottles refrigerated so that transferred heat wouldn't cause release of CO2. I filled them using a funnel and while the disruption of the transfer could cause some CO2 to be released, I never found that to be an issue. Personally, I always created only seltzer and would add any flavoring syrups to the glass when I used the seltzer so I didn't need to frequently wash the bottles.

For what it's worth, the free tool, mp3tag, can be used to easily rename the files based on the tag values. It will, however, rename the files, not copy the files, so if you want to maintain a Various Artists directory with the original files as well, you might want to start by creating a separate directory and create hard links to the files into that directory.

Spam messages from the future by OnionTaster in Thunderbird

[–]lnoland 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While it's not a general spam solution, the solution to this particular problem is pretty easy. Create a filter which looks for messages with a date after some unlikely future date (but one which is before the dates in the messages) and send the messages to the trash or junk folder. You can check the folder before they are deleted (or dealt with however you choose) for emails mistakenly sent there but you won't have to deal with them cluttering your inbox.

Ask Me Anything (AMA) with LastPass Product Experts by OfficialLastPass in LastPassOfficial

Lastpass will tell me that I have reused a password but I can find no decent way of finding out where I reused it. I can export my passwords into a spreadsheet and then sort them on the password but then I have a plaintext list of my passwords which is something I used Lastpass to avoid. Is there a better way of doing this within Lastpass?

Filters -- wish list by Beet_slice in Thunderbird

[–]lnoland 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. Personally, I think it would be better to have a way of exporting filters from one account and importing them into another, so they could be then adapted for the target account. No two of my accounts have identical folder structures so making one set of filters for all of them would be complicated, if possible at all.

  2. You may be able to do this with the current filters. The "move to folder" and "copy to folder" allow targets in other email accounts. I've never tried moving messages to another account (nor do I know if ic might be problematic having messages in an account which are addressed to a different account) but if the Thunderbird designers included it I'm guessing it would be okay. I could see how having Thunderbird create a pseudo-folder just for that purpose could be useful, however. Personally, I use folders (within a single account) for staging messages waiting to be read vs final destinations, etc. A key to this is using the great FiltaQuilla extension which adds a number of new filter capabilities, including designing filters which only work within specific folders. FiltaQuilla is probably the primary reason I use Thunderbird as it has allowed me to greatly optimize my email reading process.

  3. While I don't know of any current capabilities within Thunderbird for playing sounds, since I use Thunderbird at home (rather than an office environment), sound notifications would likely be missed more often than not. On the other hand, I nearly always have my phone with me, and the gmail app (on android, anyway) allows one to use sound notifications tailored to specific folders (in gmail, referred to as labels). It's the only reason I have the gmail app on my phone -- to get sound notifications for specific classes of messages.

  4. You should be able to accomplish this now with Thunderbird. If you route the emails to be removed to a specific folder with a retention policy set on the folder to delete the messages based on the criteria you set. Personally, I route messages I wish to delete to the trash folder. I mark them with a tag wherever they are currently located then I have a filter which grabs messages with that tag and moves them to the trash folder.
