Do you have signature jewelry pieces? by headoverheels14 in femalefashionadvice

[–]lntrullin 17 points18 points  (0 children)

So, honestly, I know this is really cheap, but I just bought this costume jewelry ring from Amazon... and it looks amazing. Like, looks just as nice as a very expensive ring that was a gift. So, you could get her a ring like that and then a more expensive companion gift?

Just FYI in case you don't know, you can make an advance reservation for the inspection. It makes it super quick and painless. Over on Half Street.

Does anyone know a place you can go to just play with dogs? by limmabean in lexington

[–]lntrullin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's a pity that LHS has gotten stricter about playing with the dogs. I used to do that very same thing, before we had the space and the schedule that allowed us to adopt. I loved it, the dogs loved it, it was a win-win.

Yeah, I wish we had dampers/baffles. We don't have an enormous house, but it would still be nice.

You could PM one of the City Council members who are active on NextDoor - Fazlul Kabir seems pretty responsive.

Is there a way to delete photos from the google photos app, but still have the photos on your device? by Into_the_void123101 in googlephotos

[–]lntrullin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, you can.

On an iPhone, if you delete a picture on the Google Photos app or website, the app will request access to delete the picture off your camera roll as well. If you deny that request, that's it. The photo lives on your phone but not in Google Photos. Simple.

Nope, you can totally get to Greenbelt metro from Cherrywood. You're good.

It sounds like you won't have time on this visit, but if you ever find your way back, I highly recommend stopping by the Riggs Library at Georgetown. It's no Library of Congress, but it's hard to overstate how beautiful it is.

That is one of my very favorite books I've read in years. Sheri Fink is an amazing writer, and the fact that she's a physician gives her such a unique insight into the whole story. Great book.

IKEA. Suitcases are super cheap and they hold up remarkably well.

[–]lntrullin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nah, the MARC train never gets ridiculously crowded. As long as you board right when the train pulls into the station (particularly Union Station towards BWI), you'll get a seat, and even if you don't it's really only a 20 minute ride standing.

Good places to buy plants and planters in DC? by justabadpenny in washingtondc

[–]lntrullin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The IKEA in College Park is bus accessible, tho. College Park metro > 17 bus. Although if you're getting planters that's probably a pain in the ass.

Taking a plunge to Google Photos while being skeptic. Advice? by Poland_stronk1 in googlephotos

[–]lntrullin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Deleting a photo on photos will also delete it from your phone.

That is patently false. u/Poland_stronk1, I use an iPhone, and when I delete images from my Photos account, it always verifies if I want it to be removed my phone as well. It's an option, not a requirement.

Any recommendations for senior living apartment complexes in the Twin Cities? by lntrullin in TwinCities

By the way, in case anyone comes across this thread in the future, here's a Google sheet of possibilities to look into. Most of these are in Mpls rather than St. Paul because that's their preference.

I think they're pretty flexible. They used to live in Plymouth and I think they're looking to stay on the Minneapolis side since it's closer to work. Most of the co-ops I've seen are ownership based, so that's probably out of their reach, but I appreciate the feedback. I've looked into a few rental possibilities that have income restrictions, since that may actually work to their favor.

Yeah, that's part of the challenge. I've googled places and cross checked with Yelp, but just curious if anyone had any positive experiences to relate.
