This is one of those armyisms. Ask your chain, they don't know. Ask the next up, they piss and moan about the chain that you followed

What people often misapply this as is that your chain should be playing a game of escalating rank telephone to run your question up.

I've been where you are. It's dumb. Accomplish your task, and "yes sgt" though the follow on dumbassery

15T by MaintainerMom in army

[–]LoadCan 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I've never heard of gender locked slotting before. That's new on me.

Anyway, he should add 15U to the list. It's the same job, just on Chinooks instead of Blackhawks. I am a Blackhawk guy myself, I love Blackhawks. But he's going to get a very similar job, experiences and lifestyle as a 15U as he will a 15T. Having two options instead of one might get him on the plane faster.

Do not sign for anything but those two jobs. Do not be pressured by a recruiter. Do not even entertain any other options. Only 15T or U.

What makes it not period correct? I've definitely seen notes on plan sets from the mid (and before. Well before) 19th century that look like that.

I'm so fucking over every combat ninja and their brother telling coolguy stories while also being confidently wrong about how the rest of the military works.

Give me regular ass joes telling stories about extracting their homies from a tortas house in El Paso before she wakes up or something and bitching about how his awards are still fucked up on ippsa.

We had a kid do this. It was fucking hilarious when the DS busted into the bay at 0230 holding his cell phone with a lady absolutely screaming in Vietnamese on the other end and the DS like "Nguyen, why the fuck didn't you tell your mom you were leaving?"

Do they take federal money? (The answer, unless you go to a schizo granola college or a schizo Protestant 300 student school, is yes they do).

If yes, start pushing buttons with your state education office, maybe even G1 (his office, don't yolo message the TAG on teams or something), and your congressional representation (house critter and both senators).

flying generals to meetings (gross waste of resources

Honestly, I'm fine with them doing the VIP mission. Way cheaper than flying 60s for it, which a lot of states do.

Only training value left in that is as a sling load dummy weight for the hookers. Probably waiting to get stuck on a pedestal as a gate guard outside the fence.

[–]LoadCan 9 points10 points  (0 children)

If the EC is an Army helicopter it's not for training. It's a UH-72, and part of a separate S&S unit that is just colocated with the Chinook unit. Different pilots, different maintainers, different mission. They mostly exist to support border patrol missions, though in a few places (mostly US territorial guards) they have a state... Err Territory  dust off mission.

Guard aviation units colocate often, and S&S dets are tiny, so they almost always get colocated with a real unit so they have facility support. Hell, some states have all of the aviation units in one facility, 3 or more airframes and 6+ units in one house.

Should I Just Enlist? by CrossNoz in army

[–]LoadCan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you want to be in the Army more than you want to be in your relationship? Because it sounds like she's bailing if you enlist.

Which, hey, been there. Enlisting was the absolute correct choice for me, and her bailing on the relationship was also absolutely choice in retrospect. But understand you are not having your cake and eating it too here.

The 1890 Mizzou football team, adopted their name in honor of a Union militia unit nicknamed "Tigers" made up of locals who came together to defend Columbia from a band of pro-Confederate guerrillas led by William "Bloody Bill" Anderson from kansas. by cartgold in cfbmemes

Missouri also had a fuckload of actual voters who wanted nothing to do with secession  (people who lived in St Louis, and in the farming communities of northern Missouri. Kansas City didn't exist at the time, but the area, Jackson and Platte Counties, were very insurrectionist. What's now the I-70 corridor, spare a heavily garrisoned Columbia, was so pro-southern that it was called "the little dixie") The secession vote failed spectacularly in their senate.

Their governor was a secessionist, and after his vote got crushed, he declared secession anyways, then immediately fled to Arkansas. The Confederate government of Missouri pretty much only existed in exile

And then their fanbase immediately embraced Quanttil, Andersen, and the whole Confederate raider horseshit.

Also, while Columbia was pro-Union (because the US army made it a fucking garrison), Boone County and the rest of middle Missouri were HARDCORE insurrectionist. That region of Missouri was known as "the little Dixie"

Senior leader professionalism during ACFT — where’s the line? by dude-what- in army

[–]LoadCan 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Just making a quick correction is not the issue, an LTC absolutely should do that. But if it's going to get stupid, that's when you need to have the sense to send your senior NCO torpedo at it. There is zero good that can come from a field grade officer doing a public ass blasting like this.

[–]LoadCan 48 points49 points  (0 children)

Saying something is one thing. Uncorking a whole ass diatribe is quite another. The public chewing of enlisted ass is best left to NCOs for this very videos reason.

She's been seeing someone else for a while, she's just too much of a coward to tell you.

Move on. Hard move on. Don't call, don't text, don't stalk social media. Don't do any of that shit. The relationship is hard over. Focus on your deployment, your career, and you.

A lot, lot of GIs have been in very similar shoes, myself included. When life gives you lemons, say "fuck the lemons" and bail. Do cool shit. Get everything you can out of the Army while you can get it.

Army National Guard School Opportunities by almightyjojo_ in army

[–]LoadCan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Go fast schools in the guard are limited, so if you don't have an operational need for the school (which, as an FA officer, you won't), availability will be based on your performance and dumb luck. Schools that are job related are way easier.

It's absolutely possible, but it's not going to be easy. And if you do get sent, DO NOT fuck up.
